This was great. Thanks a lot! I'm probably the same age as your grandparents now, I grew up with blues and R&B and rock & roll. These days I listen to a lot of jazz and also world music, and I've also been getting into house music. This genre is so expansive now and has so many variations, it seems to me that it has outgrown the name "house music." There's just too much going on to call it one thing. Maybe it needs a new name. Or maybe we should just call it music. Anyway, I love your mixes. I love the relationship you have with funk and R&B. I don't care if you smile or not. Just keep doing what you're doing. I love it.

Great comment, I'm in my 60's now and I'm more enthusiastic about music than ever. Totally agree with the hundreds of house music genres, people say to me, oh you're a bit old to be into house music with no idea that the house music I listen to is not the same as boom boom boom house music my children listen to. Jazz house, chill house, afro house etc. The list is endless.

Great comment! I'm in the same boat. 67 and have been playing jazz, R&B, and rock music in bands for about 50 years. I think house music is such a rich genre and is really popular world wide now. I combine house music with live instruments and am all about beats. Funky Heartbeats is very cool1

This is and will be a great addition to your already awesome channel Eric!!! You are a House Music Purist and it shows through and through! I learned to mix with disco/eurodisco under my older brother and once House Music was born, that was it for me, I did gravitate to techno and had minor success spinning in NYC in the 90's but House is where its at!!! Great channel! Great concept! I subbed a while back, but from the first watch. Having grown up in Chicago being in Jr High and High School when it all began, I salute you for wanting to show house music in a better light. I'm also curious about why you chose the equipment you chose? Love it! Simple, clean and to the point.

I’ll def share my responses on the next video but briefly I got these numark cdjs after selling my technic turntables since vinyls were really getting expensive, I’ve had these cdjs for a long time and it’s about time to change honestly, but I’m just so used to it and can’t seem to move on from them, they r my babies haha

Another fan from Australia, great work on the usual mixes but hats off to jumping into conversations around learning and education. Would love to see some things around the eras and what defined them, notable stand-out artists, or even sub or breakout genres that you're a fan of. Even a famous sample breakdown to show where things are used and borrowed or influenced from is a really good area to learn how far inspiration travels and in what forms. Personally looking back the acid house and the big beat scene is really what I miss in the current times and its always fun to go back and listen. Cheers again for the mixes and also for this exciting next chapter.

When I listen to house music, I listen to it both when I'm happy and sad. And I have the same personality and concerns as you. The situation is the same in Korea.

The bits that are most prominent in my mind at the moment are: 1) house music is played in gay clubs 2) you moved from S. Korea. 1) Do you want to invite the world to enjoy what the gay clubs are thought to have, reduce the association of the two ideas in the minds of the population, a combination of the aforementioned, or something else? 2) What motivated the move from S. Korea? Perhaps you were so young that you were along the ride with the family? Thanks for the nice music. It is becoming something I go to in the evenings after work.

Thank you!! sounds good, i'll respond briefly here but i'll also share the info on my next video as well. I have numark ndx 400 cdjs with 2 channel pioneer mixer, simple and probably not the best quality of cdjs out there sorta 2nd tier below pioneer brands, i've had them for a long time and it's sorta breaking down on me time to time but they are my babies haha, I do shop for tracks mostly on beatport.com and spent good amount of time listening to all samples to select the ones i like, if i can afford all the vinyls, would love to get turntables and vinyls, I regret selling my first technics a while back but vinyls are too expensive these days

You brought up the "gay club" stereotype. When I first came out 24 years ago, I was actually annoyed by all the house music in clubs. A decade later I began to fall in love with the music. But by the time I made it back to the city, most of the gay events' DJs were crap. I wish we could still hear that soulful groove the way it was back in the day. 😞

I totally feel you! I lived in San Francisco for a decade before moving down to LA and scenes have changed a lot for sure in both cities, I don’t think I’ll ever will feel the old soulful stuff from back in the days but hopefully we will keep it going :)

왠지 한국의 기운이 느껴지긴 했는데 혹여나 실례될까봐 말씀을 못드렸었어요ㅎㅎ 짧은 댓글은 영어로 써보겠는데 긴 글은 엄두가 나지 않아 한글로 쭉 적어봅니다. 1. 믹싱은 배우신건지 독학이신건지 궁금합니다. 믹싱 포인트가 굉장히 부드럽고 딱 제가 하고싶은 그런 플로우라서 멋져보였어요! 2. 디깅을 따로 하는 곳이 있는지, 이 곡을 내 믹셋에 써야겠다 하는 부분이 있다면 어느 포인트인지 알고 싶어요! (간혹 믹셋에 같은 아티스트 특집처럼 쭉 연결된 영상도 있고해서 어느 날 느낌이 왔다던가 하는?!ㅋㅋ) 그 외에 궁금한 것들이 많지만 줄이겠습니다ㅋㅋㅋ 차차 또 여쭤볼게요. 언젠가 저도 집에서 믹셋을 만들고 싶은 생각이 있기에 에릭님이 부럽고 멋졌어요ㅎㅎ 항상 신나는 믹셋 만들어 주셔서 감사합니다!!❤ 간간히 코멘트 영상도 올려주세요ㅋㅋㅋ

안녕하세요!! 코맨트 너무 감사드려요! 제가 다음 비디오에 답해드리겠습니다!! 항상 봐주셔서 감사합니다! 간단하게 답을 드리자면 네 믹싱은 대학교부터 제가 독학하고 또 여러 dj 친구들과도 같이 도와주면서 하니까 또 늘었던거 같애요 전 beatport.com 이라는곳에서 음악 샘플을 듣고 맘에드는track 들을 사는데 대부분 여러가지 genre 에 하우스 음악을 사서 믹스가 잘돼는 track 들을 연결하지요, jazz 아님 funk 장르가 비슷한 track 들 부터 시작 아님 첫 track 을 고르고 이것저것 시도 해볼때도 있고, 특별히 꼭 따라가는 pattern 는 없어요, 노래를 듣다가 좋은 timing 됄꺼 같다 싶으면 시도 해보고, 솔직히 100% mix 가 돼는건 거이 없어요, 그럴땐 mixing style 을 바꿔서 할때도 있고, ㅋㅋ 죄송해요 도움이 돼는지 모르겠네요 재가 비디오에 또 올릴께요 :)
