🎊 Whether you're hosting a surprise party or planning a large corporate event, you want to follow a structured process to ensure an enjoyable experience for your attendees. So, in this Event Management 101 video with Google Sheets, I break down event planning and take you through my method step-by-step!
No matter what type of event you're planning, there are many constants: attendees, registration or invitation process, speakers and agenda, marketing materials, and communication channels. Literally every event in the world has these things in some shape or form.
I like to break down event planning into different buckets: Pre-event, during-event, and post-event. This allows me to structure my thoughts whether I'm planning a wedding, a birthday party, or a team offsite.
While the concepts in this KZread video is more than enough for most people, if you're a professional who frequently comes into contact with events at work, or an aspiring marketer, the full introduction to event management Skillshare course will be very useful!

Heyy Jeff, this video was absolutely nice!! The way of keeping a track of things has been exceptional from your end. I have a slight problem here. Since I m a 3rd year bachelor's student learning computer science, we aren't familiarised with this event management concepts nor we have any prior experience. Hence it looks totally new to us. It would have been better if you could explain a bit more deep to the freshers who are learning or those people who have taken a turn towards Event Management. Frankly speaking, these things really went like bouncers on the top of my head. I hope you understand!! Thanks and have a good day!!! Cheers!!!

It’s interesting to know how broad marketing can be :o I used to be under the impression that marketing=sales (my first principles of marketing class quickly dispelled that thought though) but now I’m finding out how prevalent event planning can be in some marketing roles, pretty cool stuff :3 Thanks for the video!
@JeffSu

Sales and marketing are VERY different 😂, glad to hear that this video also cleared some of that confusion up! And within marketing there are many many differences as well, for example the responsibilities of a growth marketer are very different than those of a product marketer!
@Andrea_Dong
2 жыл бұрын
This is the first time I heard about growth marketers :o I did a quick Google search and by the looks of it, they’re almost the opposite of a product marketer 👀 I’m just remembering how you mentioned in a previous video that you liked seeing the impact you’re making 😆 considering how growth marketing has a longer time horizon and thus won’t give results as quickly, I can see why you didn’t go that route haha
Amazing

hi jeff! can i ask if you ever considered using notion for event planning? :0 and if you did, if you could share a template for that? context: my main concern right now is figuring out the timeline for event preparations, and i found that using notion really helped me visualize work timelines and deliverables as well as create filter views for separate departments to look at. however, after watching this video, i realized that there's a lot more information that i should be making available to my team & wondered if i could replicate what you did on googlesheets to notion just as effectively. thanks for making such great videos & tutorials! 🎉

Great video. You got me to watch your entire lesson on skillshare. It should be very helpful as we move forward with a small conference of 40-50 people. I wonder if you have any suggestions for logistical in-person event stuff like badges, arrival and hotel booking, and stuff like that. We are also looking for a very simple conference app solution that can have a brochure, schedule, speaker bios, local info, and in-app messaging. Any suggestions would be splashing! Thanks again for your content. I would keep my skill share account if there were more deep dives from you on it. peace.

Wow that's great to hear Daniel, hope it was helpful! To be very honest when it comes to event execution, I highly recommend hiring an event agency (they're usually very affordable, even for SMBs) since they already have the tools and processes in place for running the entire event from beginning to end. Conference app would be a bit more complicated (and expensive) so I honestly recommend creating the agenda online (using Google Docs or Notion)
