You’re supposed to be able to see the insertion site for leakage that’s why you use Tegaderm.

When disinfecting the site, you clean with one continuous spiralling stroke starting from a central point then outwards and not the back and forth strokes demonstrated here. Also important not to apply the surgical tapes under pressure as that could cause stasis within the vein. Tegadem is preferred, if available.
