I really don't understand why Emile Hirsch didn't get an Oscar for his performance in this film. One of my favorite movies ever.

This movie inspired me for life. It is one of those movies which changes the way you see the world. I'm a changed person now.

So much, i saw it in summer 2008 and weeks later i was hiking in switzerland on my own for 10 days. Today my plan is to go to Canada and start a new chapter of my life

I swear that book made me look at everything differently. I was raised to question the establishment, and to avoid conforming, and i even rebelled against my own parents who were rebelling against society by living by their means. I found myself living outside of my means, and eventually was to a point of no means. I was destitute, and without a home. I was a failure, but i found contentment with nothing, and i remembered Into the Wild. The movie came out. Changed me again. Life is not property.

Sold my car and my goodwill furniture, hitched rides all the way down to Oaxaca, Mexico, back up through Northern Cal., crossed into B.C., Alberta, walked on a glacier, and then over to Saskatchewan. The only difference between me and him is that I was prepared, perhaps less idealistic... and lucky.

his journey is an ode to life... death is just a part of the cycle, living your life is the best thank you one can give to the gift of life. his journey was one of spiritual endeavour, his body carried him through it.

"Happiness is only real when shared." So true. Finally he realised it. But it was too late. We won't forget his last thoughts.

Great movie. The book takes a harsher viewpoint focusing on the disconnect between people and having to find the emotional content in nature.

This song is also (?) on the soundtrack to Cruel Intentions, and I find it's one of the best Counting Crows songs.

1:38 scene in this video is what i keep on watching everyday. and the background score in the movie of this vary scene make me forget the world.

the amount of potential Chris had was rediculous.. he could have literally gone for the stars and beyond that. Somehow, through the most of simplistic means, he did just that though, or at least i'd like to think so. He lived like very few ever will. He enjoyed nature which is just looked and then simply forgotten. This man made me realize not to conform to what society wants you to conform to, but to conform to what your soul wants to conform to.

Once you've spent some time alone with nature the two of you have become one it will change your life forever every man should try it at least once

this guy had the right idea. ever since i first saw this movie about 10 years ago i wish i could do what he did, just amazing his life may have been cut short but atleast it wasnt filled with bullshit. judging from the movie here id say he had an amazing life full of freedom and adventure and honestly thats what i look for in life, exitment, great food, and adventure. love goes out to the mcandless family. chris had such an impact on me

Somehow I always come back to this video..

McCandless really was onto something. Though he realize he needed people to share his happiness with, he realized that our over crowded society has complicated life and made it almost a chore just to be happy. How much is enough? What can we live with and still be happy? To what end do we work countless hours just to satisfy our materialistic wants?

Perfect song for this video.

I have begun doing alot more traveling on my time off on my motorcycle...may not be to the extent of Chris....but it really opens your mind and gives you a new outlook on life.

Happiness...only real when is shared.

I owned my own rig. I was a flatbed trucker for 30 years. Saw every place this guy saw more than once. I was happy. I was independent. I was free. Still am. Now I got and ole lady. Sometimes I wish I was back on the open road.

a well done video to a wonderfulf although sad movie. this song seems to fit the video

you made a great video, by this confronting, touching, emotional, inspirating, sad, happy, weird, just beautiful story that made me cry, laugh, and realise in what f*cking society we live.
