Into the Raging River by Steven Reineke - flute & piccolo perspective w/ sheet music

Музыка

Hellos hellos my lovelies,
Here’s a performance of this wonderful and chaotic piece by Steven Reineke.
Also the whole story of this piece in short is: sunrise, getting to river, uh oh, oh wait this is actually pretty, nvm this river really mad, the raft is in the rapids, phew it’s all good, in my resting place, so pretty, yup just as i thought here we go again, very chaotic and long battle with the river, yay last battle, finally over the falls, dang that was a beautiful journey.
*just a side note, yes i mess up many times but thats just normal, my concert nerves wanted to be a part of it ig lol.
Enjoy and happy listening,
Rohanna 🍓

First of all, you did great! Second, I can see your hesitating in some of the parts where you know you will be heard DON'T HESITATE!!!! YOUR THE PICCOLO PLAYER LET IT BE KNOWN!!!!!!! Just be confident in your playing abilites and everything will come naturally, great job thought 👍👍👍

Aww thank you! Yeah, I am honestly unconfident on piccolo knowing that I will probably sound like a scratched-up dog whistle with those high notes 😅 needed this confident boost

@@rohannamaedefiesta I completely understand what you mean, its either you sound like an angelic little angel or a dog whistle and will shatter everyone, but you just have to have that confidence to go for it because at the end of the day, if there wasn't supposed to be a piccolo there the composer wouldn't have written a part for it 💜💜

Hey!! You have a great sound! In the fl 1 solo, try to add some vibrato in the longer notes to give it some life!! Also in the end of some held out notes, you tend to go flat sometimes :)) so keep the air speed flowing even in the softer sections, just use less :))

Wait, does the piccolo have a head joint like the flute , but it's just smaller?

Yes, and because of its size, you have to adjust the embouchure significantly! That is why it’s tough to play picc and then immediately switch to flute :))

I have to also switch from piccolo and flute between a song because the other kids in my section can not play their parts. Where do you put your other instrument when you arent using it?

ideally, it’s good to have a hercules stand to safely place the instruments. I find that it’s the safest option without hurting the mechanism or having someone accidentally step on it 😅
