Into the heart of Thuringen: IC 2155 ride Cologne - Gera

Since I´ve seen these short Intercity trains pulled by diesel locomotives in Erfurt over and over again, I wanted to travel by one of those one time. And here we go.
One of these is the IC 2155. Is is only five carriages long, having one first class and four second class ones. The second class carriage on the end of the train is a cabcar. There is no bistro on the train.
The IC 2155 starts from Cologne main station every day, and transits the Ruhr metropolitan area at first, in order to get to Hamm. There it changes direction of travel and heads towards Paderborn, driving through the flat Westphalian landscape. From there on the terrain becomes very hilly, as the train enters the Hessian- Lower Saxon- mountain range. In there the route leads through Kassel and Bebra, until eventualy reaching Thuringen, with Eisenach being the first stop in this state of Germany. Short time after, in Gotha, the electric Class 101 locomotive gets uncoupled from the rear of the train, while a diesel locomotive of Class 246 is placed in front of the cabcar at the head of the train. From there the Intercity operates only diesel-powered, which becomes necessary at Weimar, because the railway from there to the terminal stop, Gera, is not electrified. Eisenach, Gotha and Weimar are rank six to four of the largest cities in Thuringen. The top three are Gera, Jena and Erfurt. And all of them are part of the route of the IC 2155.

Schöne IC Route hast du ausgewählt=). Ich glaube die DB bietet diese Fahrt drei mal täglich an meine ich. Ausserdem wusste ich gar nicht, das zwischen Hamm - Paderborn 200 km/h gefahren kann trotz einige Bahnübergänge😮.

Ja, die Route war echt schön! Der IC 2155 ist tatsächlich der einzige Zug, der wirklich täglich von Köln aus ganz bis nach Gera fährt...der IC 2157 endet Samstags in Erfurt. Dann gibt es noch den IC 2151, der erst in Kassel beginnt und nicht Sonntags fährt. Da, wo die Bahnhübergänge sind, wird nicht 200 km/h gefahren. Die 200 km/h sind zwischen Soest und Lippstadt möglich.
Mit dem IC Fahre ich mit 2 Kumpels Von Erfurt nach Gera am 15.6

Ja das hörst du richtig. Da hat eine ne Katze von Düsseldorf nach Kassel verschleppt. Ich weiß auch nicht, wie man auf so eine Idee kommt...
