    I’ve just watched this for about the fifth time haha - lovely video Phil! It has inspired Andy (Kent Survival) and I to do a little Medway trip of our own next weekend, taking in a few of your sights of interest - thank you!

    What happened to ya clifftop tangram vid? I just ordered one and wanted to re-watch it. Tangram looks like a good tent for summer hot weather and mozzies. The tent I use in this adventure is too heavy and bulky for a backpack.

    Aye thx for sharing Andy...very kind of you. Overall I am pleased with the film....it ain't perfect....it's all edited on my phone...so some things are hard to get spot on...like lip syncing the sound to the video for example. If I ever get to Scotland (House is sold....going thru paperwork stage atm), i'm getting a new desktop to edit on. Originally I wasn't gonna do the history voice-overs but I had this image of Tom Outdoors in my mind, shouting at my vid..."M8...where is the history...how can u visit these places and give no history?" So I did them.....anyway...thx again Andy.

    God that was brilliant. You sir are king of the timelapse. Agree I'm more of a sea and estuary fan myself. Really wanna visit all of these locations and camp but as you say kayaking is an expensive hobby. As is any hobby really so it is worth it for the freedom it gives you.

    Hi, have you kept the thigh straps with the recently fitted rudder control foot pedals? Good kayak even though I say so myself having got same kayak in same colour. Phil.

  • @SapperPhish

    @SapperPhish

    10 ай бұрын

    I haven't tried the thigh straps along with rudder....they could possibly impinge on the rudder lines. When I get my kayak down for the next paddle....I'll get you a firm answer regarding that. However....now that I have the foot pegs I feel that I don't need the thigh straps as I feel firm enough with the boat.

    @@anotherangleUK regarding the thigh straps....I have my footpegs half way down the rail and they don't interfere with the rudder lines. Pegs any nearer to the seat would interfere. I was gonna go out on loch brora today to test the Cambridge kayaks deluxe seat...but it's abit windy. I'll go tomorrow.

  • @k956upg
    @k956upg3 жыл бұрын

    Nice trip but not so keen on the music it was too much. Your boat is top heavy how about a tourer it’s longer so more hydrodynamic & longer storage lower down...seriously why a sit on top I can’t see the desire to lose control weather protection (sun-rain -wind) & no storage unless you compromise your buoyancy with complicated top heavy setup...

    After shattering my pelvis and being told never to roll a kayak again, I got a perception triumph 13. I paddled all year round and was never cold. Neoprene boots and strides, rash vest and short sleeved cag. (And hat to make up for no hair) I managed to pack for multiple day trips, and just had to give some thought to weight distribution, but then I had to do that with a sit in. It never felt tippy or top heavy. There’s also a safety aspect for sit on tops especially as I was nearly always solo. I never capsized, but, like Phil did, I knew I could climb back on ( I did practice). If Phil had been in deep water and was in a sit in, he could’ve been in trouble. While some sit ins should be banned from being on sale, the triumph has the Carolina hull, albeit in a sit on top, so it has well proven handling, and has some surprising speed about it. I’ve now turned to packrafting, but never discount a good sit on top.
