I seriously need to reevaluate my life. Working a 51 hour shift at Heathrow airport means I'm far too tired to do anything else on my rest days. The thought of getting on two wheels and just riding somewhere fascinating blows my mind. Thank you for sharing your amazing life stories.

Very welcome in our little corner of the world Freddie! And yes : Most Belgians can switch very fast into minimum 4 languages... We are raised like this from childhood or school , but also in the media . All movies we watch are in the original language with subtitels in Dutch or French. So we learn it very fast to speak a lot of different languages. For example : i'm a flemmisch citizen and Dutch is my native language, Frech my second , German, Englisch, Spannish, Polisch, Russian and a bit of Italian .... It makes our hollidays a lot easier!

Hello. What a nice surprise to see this road trip starting in my city of Malmedy. And thank you for the great pictures. For the record, the garage with the old Volvos was the old Volvo dealership in the region. The owner did not want to follow the standards imposed on Volvo dealerships and ended his contract. He had several new cars in stock at that time. And he always kept them... I wanted, 20 years later, to buy one but it was not possible. So they are still there, new and have been for more than 25 years.

Amazing roads and good variety of routes (look up Grand Tour du Luxembourg for 7 amazing routes around the country) and the close proximity to tracks Spa, Nurburgring and Hockenheim can certainly keep you entertained during the weekends. So what's young Dobbs up to today? I think us Brits tend to neglect Belgium, yet from everything I see it strikes me as the perfect place to go for a motorcycle trip. For a start, it's close, no long slog on the autoroute to the Mediterranean just a short hop on the ferry, or the tunnel if you must and you're there. The roads all look beautiful, the scenery stunning, I have a Belgian friend who's Instagram is full of winding roads through forests, opening up to stunning views across meandering rivers, craggy out crops and beautiful little towns, all with great places to stop and eat. And whilst as you point out there are three official languages here, from what my friend says, almost everyone also speaks at least a smattering of English, so for us monolingual Brits, we can get by. I'm very tempted to pack a bag and hop on a boat right now.

Hi Freddie. Saw you wiping your visor with your gloves, here’s little wrinkle that I found helped lots with mucky visors when I used to commute into London every day. . I got a chammy leather, punched a hole in the corner, tied it to a piece of tape. Tied the other end of the tape to a bulldog clip. I would then wet the chammy before setting off clip the bulldog clip to my belt (so I didn’t lose the leather but if it got tangled up it would just pull off) I’d shove the leather between my legs and every time my visor got mucky a quick wipe and it was clean again. Worked brilliantly unless the leather froze - which it did every now and then on the coldest days.

When your in Luxemburg City, not far from the Pont Adolphe there is a bakkery called Backerei Fisher. Croisants and coffee there are splendid and not expensive. It is our breakfeast spot every morning if we are there. Make sure to visit Parque la Petruse and Museum Dreï Echelen. Enjoy Freddie, I'm counting down two more weeks and I'm in Luxemburg City again ;)

I’d love to know more about that old Volvo dealership. My parents owned a silver Volvo 240 GLT when me and my brother were kids. Great car and built like a tank.

Used to do day trips to Luxemburg from Central Germany and back, back in the days. The "official" idea was to ride through the Hubsrück Mountains for about 250 miles. A benefit was getting cheap cigarettes and booze there, which for some seemed to be the entire motivation. These were the times where you had to go through Border Control in Wasserbillig of course.

Yep, the language in that region can be confusing. A few weeks back in that region I checked into a campsite, using my best French, and the person asked if I was German. On finding out I was from the UK they said that's good because they didn't speak very good French....!

A lot of the campsites in the North of Luxembourg are owned/run by the Dutch! I once stayed in a hotel there and the staff didn't speak French.

Most of us are trilingual, english flemish french. So in Brussels in a bar we constantly switch, you might order your beer in french then have a conversation in dutch. And depending on the company switch to english or french mid conversation.

You've been watching too much Mickey Flanagan by the looks of it, due to the way you pronounce "restaurant" 😂 You missed out if you didn't go to Esch-sur-Sûre on your way back. Major bike ride to place in Luxemburg. Head up N12 or the 101 out of Luxo, it takes about 50mins to get there. Nice cafes and on the river. There's a dedicated bikers hotel there too.

Luxembourg is indeed very nice, so is the country side and the city of Luxembourg. Was just there last week on Thursday. You mentioned a lot of "special" cars/vehicles when you were in Belgium/Malmedy. Mind, it is in the vicinity of Spa race circuit and one will always see very serious money on 4 and 2 wheels there. Belgium and Luxembourg are really very nice to explore on two wheels. Foodwise, Belgium is more reasonable priced than Luxembourg, I think. Should there be people who like madeleine biscuit: Go to 4 rue de´l Eau in the city of Luxembourg. You will get the most delicious madeleines you´ve ever had!
