I came across your video and it’s sadly a story that is all too familiar to me right now which is why I am researching. My father who is 67 has a high output fistula from a major abdominal surgery. It has been 3 months and it is not healing and he has been on TPN that long. Surgeons say they may operate at some point but with radiation treatments from 8 years ago, his tissue is fried and crispy and therefore they say not healthy enough to be repaired at this time. He weighs under 100lbs and is just withering away even with TPN. I’m thinking of a second opinion to look at him. There has to be something that can be done to close this fistula. Right now he has his colostomy bag which he has had since 2013 and two other similar bags over incision sites on his stomach where bowel is coming out. Some days all three. I’m very discouraged and just don’t know what to do as I’m afraid we are running out of time. If in reality they don’t ever see a surgery being done then I wish we could just bring him home to eat and be comfortable. I don’t see how fried tissue from 8 years ago radiation can suddenly become soft to do surgery on. Any suggestions? 🥺

Thanks Unfortunately the effect of radiation is delayed and the damage remains there for decades, it is a prohibitive situation, you always have the right to refuse treatment or accept surgery with high risk of complications

It's very good information but if you speak slow and proper names it would be very helpful for all students Because some words are overlapping and missing

Should i wait to heal itself or i had to go through surgery again? I am.also having TB medicine for 6months course as doctor prescribed to heal the fistula
