I have always been interested in the Victorian era. I have decorated my house with every thing Victorian. I wish they had a place where you could experience living in the Victorian times. Wear the clothing etc. Live in the homes. Of course I prefer the wealthy side ,, The beautiful dresses and homes .

She mentioned the economic times in the 1890s. People don't realize how strong, resilient and self-reliant people were during hard times. Interesting to note: It was the rare individual that wasn't touched with death. There was the Spanish flu going around as well as other diseases. Yet people didn't mourn forever. They understood the circle of life. They generally didn't get overly depressed for long periods of time and they didn't commit suicide because they lost a loved one. The people knew their Bible and depended on it for reliable comfort and solace. They had family, friends, neighbors and their church congregation to uphold them in difficult times.Today, if people don't get the candidate they want, they have a breakdown and burn down the city. There's alot we can learn from our prudent, wise great-grandparents.

People take issue becasue they have criticised the modern world. We have amazing advances in medicine and technology we have the internet for Christ's sake. I'm Goth I base a lot of my beliefs off the ancient Egyptiansand the religion Thelema . Ancient egyptian makeup is thousands of years old way older than the Victorian era . So yeah live ure life but when u criticize others ure gonna get fallback off that . Which they have done in other videos. Victorian era did not wear tons of eyeliner like Goths and ancient Egyptians. Do I criticize Victoria are no it just isn't my path .

I like Sarah. This was a sweet interview. However, I wish that it was much more in depth. There are so many things I'd like to know... How do they handle toileting? Do they use chamber pots; do they have an indoor "outhouse', which was called a gardeloo? How do they dispose of the waste? How do they get their ice? Does she ever wear pants? Do they have children? [Victorian families tended to be large.] Do they use Victorian methods of birth control? What does Gabriel do for a living? Do they have modern insurance? Do they pay income tax? Does Gabriel know how to drive a car? Do they keep up with events in the world around them? Do they have a phone? Do they have a well? Do they have a pump in the sink? Does their water freeze in the winter? Do they heat with coal? Do they use modern hygiene products [shampoos, and deodorants], canned goods, take vitamins? How do they wash clothes? Do they go to the store for their products, [How often? How do they keep meat really fresh, - or are they vegan?] or do they order from one of those old fashioned catalogs?

priorattire makes clothing reproductions from various historical periods, including Victorian. She's also done videos on how Victorians would have used chamberpots in their clothing. How this particular couple deals with the juxtaposition of the modern world and Victorian world is an interesting one. I imagine it's a blending of some of both worlds.

I thought it seemed like she was taking the time to think genuinely about how to best answer the question she’d been asked. Very confident without arrogance. It amazes me how much she even looks like she is from that era. Her smile, mannerisms and soft approach. She does not seem like a controlled, suppressed woman at all. Quite the opposite. She clearly is extremely intelligent and educated. I love how she speaks of her husband with admiration but not “worship”. Watching videos of this couple has dispelled so many assumptions I had about what they are like. It intrigues me so much. I find her confidence and modesty to be incredibly refreshing. I think it just goes to show that femininity is attractive. She has me thinking so much about how alluring being mild mannered, elegant and modest can be. She is so classy and interesting.

Did you ask her off-camera if she wore a liner under her corset? (I suspect she does.) A couple of Amazon reviewers were puzzled that she didn't mention wearing a chemise and didn't have one on in the photos in her book.

I just rewatched it 2 times, I may just need to go look that book up. okay I just went to Amazon, and they have it on Audible and you can listen to the first 4 or 5 minutes of it. Will I miss anything if I get the audio version ?

I wish I knew! Orchard Corset had sponsored the filming crew for this trip, and they brought all their own equipment. I did ask about their lapel mic at the time (3 years ago) but it was well over $400.

She was definitely born in the wrong era.. Her whole mannerisms and how She even speaks is not of this time. Plus I've seen how allot of Women so called new wave feminist have been so negative towards her . Saying why go back to a time when women were oppressed and all stuff like that They really don't know History at all as there was so many Women Movements allot of Powerful Women came up out of the Era Plus they spoke of even LGBTQ community Thousands of same sex relationships were going on back then even Women dressing in Men Clothing . Ppl need to open their mind

Just a quick question for Sarah, does corsetry help reduce back pain from aging? Also you look very good for a 60-70 year old

Hello, I don't know if Sarah has a KZread account but she is in her 30s, she's not in her 60s. :) There are plenty of people who start wearing corsets as they age for better posture! Ann Grogan is in her 70s and wears corsets regularly, and Cathie Jung is 80. If you're interested in reading more about the physical benefits a corset can provide, I have a list on my blog: lucycorsetry.com/corset-benefits/physical-benefits-of-wearing-a-corset/

I have heard that the corsets were excellent support gor the women at this period because they'd be carrying their babies on their hips or trying to carrying huge buckets of water up and down stairs. The corset protected their spines. Makes great sense to me.

The content of this video was very enjoyable, but the mics weren't even attempted to be hidden. It appears both unprofessional and distracting. Regardless, both of you ladies seem and look lovely (as always) and you were very pleasant to listen to.

Sam Poulin when I last visited them, they didn't have immediate plans to have children but they treat this as an interesting ongoing project in a way; they've basically said that they'll keep it going until one or both of them stop enjoying it. They're adamant about not forcing their lifestyle on others though, and they've said that they wouldn't do anything that would hold a kid back in life or make them ill-prepared for functioning in the modern world. I'm paraphrasing of course, because this conversation happened over 5 years ago. They're very reasonable people though.
