Interview with Karyn Kasvin - Mouth Breathing Awareness

May is Mouth Breathing Awareness Month!
That means over the next month, I'll posting on social media every day, trying to spread the word, and I've asked my amazing MyoMentor Graduates to help me out.
MyoMentor students and graduates are some of the most passionate dental and healthcare professionals I know, and many of them have struggled with their own myofunctional symptoms - mouth breathing, tongue-tie, sleep disordered breathing, and more.
So I'll be interviewing THEM to share their stories and highlight what they are doing in their practices and communities to help their patients.
Today I spoke with another amazing MyoMentor Graduate, Karyn Kasvin. Karyn is a dental hygienist who also teaches yoga, pilates, Buteyko Breathing, and she started integrating myofunctional therapy into her practice as well!
I loved how she explained the story of her teenage daughter - we've heard other interviews about kids, but this is the first time we've heard about teens. Karyn's daughter had her tongue tie released at age 15 and even though she noticed other mouth breathing and myofunctional symptoms earlier on, she didn't realize they mattered. Karyn looks back at pictures of her daughter when she was younger and can see her open mouth posture.
Karyn's whole-body approach to wellness is super inspiring to me! I love how she is so passionate about the big picture of our health and how she practices what she preaches through yoga, pilates, posture training, and connecting the fascia and body awareness components to all areas of her practice and treatment.
If you are live near Rocklin, California, or the Sacramento area, you should definitely get in touch with Karyn!
