Interview with Former Roman Catholic Mike Gendron

In this video/podcast, I had the privilege of interviewing Mike Gendron whom God saved out of Roman Catholicism. Mike discusses the importance of the Protestant Reformation and what it accomplished. He also discusses some of the heresies of Roman Catholicism and names names of those in the evangelical world giving Roman Catholicism theological cover.

Great discussion! I've read a book by James G. McCarthy called "The Gospel According to Rome" published in 1995. Purchased through The Berean Call (Dave Hunt & T. A. McMahon, who was raised in the Roman Catholicism). Roman Catholicism kept me away from hearing and listening to the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our family was Jewish and Roman Catholics would call us "Christ killers" for many years. I was witnessed to by a born again Gentile (she was a member of a Presbyterian Church). She had studied all about Judaism and why the Jews reject Christ. She said RCs were not Christians, which was a shock to me. I identified Roman Catholicism as Christianity. Praise God, He brought me out of Judaism (not my ethnicity as a Jew) and I was born again in March, 1974.

Thanks for this wonderful and insightful teaching, Lots of God’s blessings,,,I posted my testimony in my KZread why I left the Catholic Church after being a Catholic nun for 13 years. They wanted me to answer a very personal questionnaire in order to get an annulment and I refused so they excommunicated me. I cannot go back into the RCC for mass now that I know they symbolically crucify Jesus again in the eucharist(the abra cadabra latin they say), and raise the piece of wafer. I was raised Roman Catholic. When I read the Bible and listened to Bible based teachings. I was amazed to learn from the Bible that Mary was to be honored as a faithful servant to the Lord Jesus Christ, and not worshiped as the mother of God which is not true. She was the earthly mother of God, not to be worshiped. There is only one God the Father, and I was shocked to learn that I need no earthly man to ask for forgiveness of my sins, just the Savior of the world who takes away all the sins of the world. The list goes on. I now know Jesus, and I have a deep loving relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Thank you for having the courage to post this. I pray it be in truth and a deep love as Christ has shown us, led by the Holy Spirit. Amen

Size and ceremony.. works righteousness, I understand that systems mechanisms. It's a curious thing.. as a child raised in CC I never hated the RCC. I saw their systems as like a 20x recopied faded photograph. No real substance.. But reading the Bible on my own as a young man I knew I needed to be saved.. The answer is the Bible it seems as I discovered. Which is why I understand they forbade people reading it for so long. Then as time goes by you get more demanding as to why they do anything they do. One by one the man made systems and Heresies evaporate. Difficult to discuss with family that are RC about this.

@@billbrasky12 You say the answer is in the Bible. Funny. Martin Luther said that mass is important. Reformed Baptists like James White reject this claim and say that it is a false doctrine. Does this mean that Martin Luther was not a "real Christian" or "real Protestant"? It is schism after schism within Protestantism which is why I left it in the first place. Look at the works of the Lutheran theologian Dr. Jordan B Cooper. Luther wrote about the admiration of the eucharist which Reformed Baptists say is a "false gospel". Heck, even Presbyterians and Reformed Baptists disagree on Baptism yet the NT talks about the strengths of Baptism. Clearly, just reading from the Bible is not producing unity.

When Fish Catch the Fisherman A. W. Tozer History shows clearly enough that true spirituality has never at any time been the possession of the masses. In any given period since the fall of the human race, only a few persons ever discerned the right way or walked in God's law. God's truth has never been popular. Wherever Christianity becomes popular, it is not on its way to die--it has already died. Popular Judaism slew the prophets and crucified Christ. Popular Christianity killed the Reformers, jailed the Quakers and drove John Wesley into the streets. When it comes to religion, the crowds are always wrong. At any time there are a few who see, and the rest are blinded. To stand by the truth of God against the current religious vogue is always unpopular and may be downright dangerous. The historic church, while she was a hated minority group, had a moral power that made her terrible to evil and invincible before her foes. When the Roman masses, without change of heart, were made Christian by baptism, Christianity gained popularity and lost her spiritual glow. From there she went on to adopt the ways of Rome and to follow her pagan religions. The fish caught the fisherman, and what started out to be the conversion of Rome became finally the conversion of the church. From that ignominious captivity, the church has never been fully delivered.

I get into discussions with Catholics a lot on X, and they inevitably, to a man, will eventually say that Scripture is not enough, that we “MUST” take church history into account. When it reaches that point, we no longer have a common foundation in the Word. They will agree with II Timothy 3:16, that the Word of God is inspired, or God-breathed. But then they tend to ignore verse 17, that states the man of God will be complete, THOROUGHLY equipped for every good work. When I say that the Word of God is sufficient for ALL doctrine and nothing should be added to it, that’s when they vigorously disagree. They can’t see that the RCC not only adds to Scripture, but their doctrines and traditions contradict it! Thank you for this video, and especially for the Bible verses to use. God bless!

Titus 2:11-12 11. For The Grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. 12. Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and Godly in this present world. Constantine brought paganism and Christianity together causing the great falling away. In the Bible God forbids us to eat human flesh and to drink blood. THIS IS A SATANIC RITUAL. In the Bible God says to call no man father and do not do repetitious praying like the heathens do. In the Bible God says He is the only one who can forgive sins through His Son Jesus. There is no other way. Jesus is the truth, the way and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through Him alone. Who do you think Jesus was talking about in Revelation 17:4-5 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead was a name written MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT. THE MOTHER OF HARLETS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. The catholic church is full of idols. They deleted God's 2nd Commandment 'Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness that's in heaven, on or under the earth, in or under the sea. Thou shalt not worship them or bow down to them' and they halved the last commandment to make up ten. There is an obelisk outside the vatican which represents Nimrod, sungod worship. Mary represents semi-ramas symbolised by a crescent moon and baby Tammuz is camouflaged by baby Jesus in Semi-ramas arm's. There is your MYSTERY BABYLON. I love the Catholic people and so saddened that 1.3billion are being deceived. I know Jesus loves them because He says in the Bible 'COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE AND DO NOT PARTAKE IN HER SINS AND RECEIVE NOT OF HER PLAGUES' Jesus said THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. It is BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH WE ARE SAVED AND NOT OF OURSELVES. We need to humble ourselves, repent of sins, accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and believe He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, arose from the dead on the 3rd day, ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God. We need to be born again in The Holy Spirit and we become a new person. The Holy Spirit, dwelling in us gives us comfort, peace, joy, encouragement and helps us to overcome sin and guides us in good works but not of ourselves. Jesus wants us to have a personal relationship with Him. Pray and walk close to Him. We cannot work our way into heaven. Jesus says our works are like filthy rags. He paid for our sins on the cross. Before He died He said 'IT IS FINISHED' and the curtain separating the sacrificial alter was ripped from top to bottom. Jesus was the sinless sacrificial lamb that took on the sins of the world. It is by GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH WE ARE SAVED AND NOT OF OURSELVES. The true church of Christ consists of those who have been born again in The Holy Spirit, have become a new person in Christ and follow Him. His bride. His New Jerusalem. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYd_ya-ndZm1YKw.htmlsi=ZwU-Ru20S-DmjSvX

Some facts about Mary to tell your Catholic friends. Mary was so important the apostles when writing the New Testament that she was only mentioned once after the Gospels, Acts 1:14. Jesus was mentioned 335 times by name after the Gospels. Mary was only mentioned once in the Bible in a context where she may not have been present. Every other place in the Bible she was directly present and her actions were recorded. Jesus however is constantly talked about in a transcendent manner when he is not around. Here's that verse. Luke 11:27-28 - "As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

  • @LaMammaDiElvis

    2 жыл бұрын

Exactly...when I started to read the Bible, I thought...where on earth is Mary? So, I did a search to see where her name appears in the Bible only to find that she is, in fact, hardly mentioned. The Catholic system took the few times that Mary was mentioned and turned her into a deity, giving her almost all the same attributes of our Lord. From being born without sin right to ascending to heaven. And giving her the most blasphemous titles of Mediatrix and Co-redeemer. When I approach my Catholic relatives and friends with the realities of Mary, they always respond with "we don't worship Mary, that would be blasphemous, we venerate her"; we only worship Jesus. It means the same thing. A synonym for venerate is worship. It doesn't matter which scripture passage I've shown Catholics, such as Luke 11:7-28 which should, once and for all, put the whole Mary worship to rest, but it doesn't. Their response is: "It simply means that Mary is blessed not only for bearing the flesh of Christ, but most of all because she heard the word of God and obeyed it." So when Jesus says "those" he really only means one person...Mary...more lies. The "Mary" that they worship is, in actuality, a demon or demons. Mary is in heaven with our Lord, she does not hear prayers, she does not answer prayers, she does not sit at the right hand of Jesus...all lies. I pray daily for Catholics as well as all unbelievers. John MacArthur has a great 4-Part Video Series on KZread on "Mary". It's great.

@@LaMammaDiElvis Thanks for your reply. You're right, Catholic teachings breaks down once you begin to have a real relationship with the Bible. My favorite method of dealing with Catholics about Mary is a two-step process. Step 1. I ask them a question. If you don't worship Mary then what is it that she does for you, why is Mary important? They respond with the false doctrine that we need we pray to Mary for grace and help in our times of need. Catholics are taught that Jesus is too holy to approach. So they must go to his merciful mother instead. Step 2. Then I simply follow up with Hebrews chapter 4. God told us to go to his throne for grace in times of need. Some of the truly brainwashed Catholics will then claim that Mary is Jesus's throne. Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV - "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." Mary called the baby in her womb "my savior" in Luke chapter 1. Mary said that she needed a savior. She wasn't sinless.

He refuses to call Mary the Mother of God, which the Third Ecumenical Council *clearly* defined in order to combat the heresy of Nestorianism, the teaching that Jesus and the Son of God/Logos were two separate persons. Because Jesus is *fully* God and Man, he is God. Because Mary gave birth to Jesus, she gave birth to God. Not God in His Divine Essence, but in the flesh. To deny that Mary gave birth to God is to deny that Jesus is God.

Sounds like you are exalting your experiences over the Scripture. I won't deny your "DAILY" encounters with the Holy Spirit. But those encounters/experiences don't trump the Holy Word of God. If the gospel you follow has discrepancies with the True Gospel of Christ, then you need to throw out your experiences and seek out the actual gospel. The Catholic church does not have the true gospel. I grew up in the Catholic church, but as I studied God's Word and came to know who God is, He led me out of that heretical church and into a sound Bible-believing group of followers that could disciple me and walk along side me as I came to know the real gospel.

Thank you for sharing this-i I came out of RC two years ago and now attend a good solid bible church with my husband. What he said about Catholic church is so true-the hard truth is that most Catholics stay in their church because of the "culture". They have been raised that way and find it hard to leave. LDS members have the same problem. Its hard for them to leave because they are leaving a "comfort" zone. It took me many years to break away but the word of God and the prayers of my evangelical relatives along with the mighty grace of God brought me out.

I completely agree with what you said once: you can be saved in the RCC but once saved, you cannot remain a RC. Totally agree 100%. Once saved , a person is indwelt with the Holy Spirit , the giver of truth and it’s impossible for the Holy Spirit to dwell in a believer while they are practicing and adhering to false and heretical doctrine as is practiced in the RCC. As a former Catholic, I can tell you Roman Catholics are very very indoctrinated with Catholic teaching and it’s a challenge to witness the truth of the Gospel to them. The Scripture was compiled, edited, and deemed canonical by the Catholic Church. Your acceptance of its canon as a rule is ipso facto acceptance of the Church’s teaching authority endowed by Christ Himself. This is all in the Gospels; I can prove it.

Thank-You so much for sharing this knowledge. I put this onto my timeline on Facebook. TY!! 👏❣️🕊️🙇 It hurts me so deeply, I have an uncle who is a Catholic. He's even a member of the Knight of something of another. He wont hear my teachings of the Bible. 😭 What to do? I won't stop sharing Jesus Christs love for him and how Jesus wants a personal relationship with him, my uncle. 🕊️🙇🕊️❣️

What makes you think YOU can do anything? All we're told to do is spread the seed. God does the rest. And there is NO guarantee anyone will come to Christ. You've done your part. Now pray.
