Holy crap--I am going to re watch this again. ALL this time I have been blabbing about how sugar turns to fat. Ted is truly brilliant. I have had his e-book since it came out. His approach is just brilliant and of course yours is exactly like that also. I am gradually reducing my fat grams now and have started to actually track them. When I started increasing protein and dropping fat I was much more hungry. That tells me I likely was eating WAY too much fat before. I got sucked into "eat lowest carb, but don't worry about fat". THis is now changing!!!! Great video!

I did high fat carnivore for 18 months and my blood sugars doubled and as a diabetic I was really ill. My triglycerides were very high too. I got diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver. I got told by alot of well known carnivore advocates I was lying trying to ruin the carnivore name. I have now done your psmf and my blood sugars have gone down by half. My morning fasting glucose is amazing best it's ever been. I am fat and I have over reached my threshold clearly. I am glad I found you and other low energy advocates.

@@CreatingintheWaiting Somewhat, but overall energy intake (carbs and fat) will be king every time. Energy toxicity, regardless of the type of fat, will be a problem. Yes, some fats like linoleic acid are especially bad, but the amounts of any being too high will have the same result.

How did your protein intake compare between the keto days and now? I don't know obviously, hence the question. But I would believe an energy toxicity would be the issue, i.e. high protein high fat diet (beyond bodily needs)

This was so enlightening! I’ve been watching way too many guru’s lately promoting fat, but I’ve never heard one logically explain where all this fat is going in my body. (I believe one guru claimed it just whooshes away if we drink a gallon of water every day 😫) And all this makes sense why I often feel fatigued and why I keep hitting plateaus even though I diligently stay on my keto and exercise regimen. I’m actually cringing right now at just how much HWC I go through in just coffee alone! 😩 Maria, I’m going to purchase some of your books right now!

If you really want to know your heard disease risk, look at CAC score. Calcium score is a cheap (usually $100) and easy test that measures the plaque buildup in your coronary arteries. The score given correlates to heart disease (and overall death risk) by orders of magnitude better that total cholesterol every does. Total cholesterol is only a couple percent correlation in the statin companies own tests. CAC score of 1000 (vs. 0) correlates at 800% increase in death risk!! www.thefatemperor.com/.../repeat-after-me... PSMF is too low of calories and fat to sustain long term without risking metabolic adaptation and other health issues. It is a method of fasting, and should be treated as such. Ie. your calculator suggests protein based on .8 of lean body weight where Dr. Naiman goes on 1lb. Therefore your calculator suggests slightly more fat than Naiman’s P:E diet does. Thank you.

I am doing carnivore. Coming from a background of binge eating and purging, I find that lowering the fat and eating lean protein only triggers me somewhat. I struggle to feel satiety. Food remains in the back of my mind the whole day, instead of me just forgetting to eat altogether, after a fatty meal. I feel more restricted instead of free. I am stalled, but I will rather be stalled than feeling tempted into slipping back into really bad old habits. Does this make sense to anyone else? So, for now, I am just cutting down the butter, dairy and sauces instead. Yes, I would love to lose the last few kilos and reach my dream goal weight BUT I think I am going to stick with my body healingly and slowly getting there on its own.

I enjoyed your interview..Maria I think you're a fabulous young woman and I love a lot of your recipes. I have always loved a low-carb diet because I think it's healthy and I don't think dr. Adkins gets enough credit because he was here before all of you and he started the ball rolling.. I think many times you and your husband come off as thrashing fat and you need to make people understand that fat is not bad. It makes sense to me that overeating fat is not healthy. I think a higher protein diet is much better for the human but I am no doctor. I highly respect these doctors each person's body is some people need more fat and research proves that that works for these type of people.. I think you are well-respected so people do listen to you however you need to make them understand that fat is not bad when you eat it properly because sometimes it seems as though you're on the low-fat way of eating and that's not good either because your body does need fat so make that clear. The interview that you had with Ted just seemed to me that it was not full understanding at some point. Make people understand that that is not bad. However eating a stick of butter is very questionable in my mind and I wouldn't do it however some people need to because of health issues so make it CLEAR.. I don't eat. It doesn't agree with my body so I eat higher protein with a moderate amount of fat that comes from the meat I eat.. I do not add fat however I don't shy away from using fat. I've lost 100 lb.. good interview I enjoyed it..

Interesting stuff. One pet peeve. Please define "Refined Carbohydrates" which I interpreted as "fiber free carbohydrates" thanks to hours of Dr. Lustig's rants, and "Refined Fats" which I didn't know how to parse, having been more carb-insulin focused in my reading. Just any fat that's not endogenous to the plant or meat for consumption - is an Avacado a "Refined Fat", is it Butter, Cream, fruit pressed oils? Or just seed oils? I'm personally a fan of Dr. Bickman's work currently and this is a nice adjunct.

There are so many postings begging for answers to why Keto, ZC, or Carnivore is not working for me. There are people believing that if they can force down 5# of Ribeye like Shawn Baker it will work. Others drink liquid fat hoping they can get a high enough Ketone meter reading. This is probably the best interview explaining you need to fill & deplete energy storage in fat cells. The cells don't care if they are filled from eating fat or carbs. The cells are just full. The PE diet is typically eating 70+/-% of calories from fat or carbs. People assume it is 70+% of calories from Protein. I don't know why this is so misunderstood.
