Agreed 100% ! It's irritating watching Brewer in this vid acting like he's oblivious to the fact he screwed Mark over. To be clear Don and Mel were beyond talented; I taught myself to play drums by listening to him on the records. But without Mark the current GFR lineup is nothing more than a Tribute band.

if you don't know the other guys in the band, you aren't a true fan. They were all listed on the cover of the platinum record collection released in 1972 Their ads always listed all three of them. Don and Mel are accomplished professional players worth of respect, Sparky, They don't need your disrespect just because you couldn't be bothered to pay attention back in the 70's. I'll bet you own maybe one of their records, if any. Deadbeat.

While Don Brewer may "own" Grand Funk, Mark Farner IS Grand Funk.

I agree that they are a better band with Mark, but I also know that life is too short to play music with someone you'd rather not.i respect Don and Mel's desire to enjoy themselves onstage.That's more important than you and I crying ;like babies for a reunion of guys that don't like each other.

He reminds me of Saul Zantz and the other members of CCR having screwed John Fogerty out of his music and the rights to his music. The wolves are always at the door. Same thing there, as the drummer and bass player went out with another guitar player and singer and tried to replicate Fogerty's songs and live off of his music, because they couldn't write & sing & play their own. Some people are just born out of shit. Hopefully Karma will come around soon to get them. Put just Mark Farner in the RR HOF. The other two belong in the Hall of Shame!

I have 12 Grand Funk Railroad albums, in pristine shape. And , after Don Brewer Shanghai'd Mark Farner, I took a black magic marker, and blacked - out every Don Brewer face, on every album. Granted, Don Brewer is a great drummer, but no one would know his name, or would he have achieved the game and fortune, had it not been for Mark Farner.

I saw Mark Farner last Saturday with his American Band. He put on a high energy performance and had the place rocking. I have no interest in this cover band with someone else singing and playing songs on guitar that Mark wrote. Mark is a nice down to earth person, I shook hands with him and got his autograph after the show. He appreciates his fans.

As a drummer of 52 years, Don Brewer was one of my influences along with Bill Ward, Ian Paice and John Bonham. But I was wondering, Don, when you read ALL of the comments about GFR that say there is NO GFR w/o Mark Farner, how does that make you feel? I grew up with Grand Funk Railroad. It was mark, Don and Mel. What some might not know is Brewer became a lawyer ( figures ) while GFR was dormant. He was hellbent after the break up when Farner was touring and he and Mel weren't doing shit ro reform Grand Funk then to get Farner out of the band. It worked. He's a scummy prick for it. Marks' son Jessie had a bad accident, the hospital bills are soaring. GFR was offered 100 mill to get back together. Farner was for it, spineless Mel said that he would do whatever Brewer would do and brewer said screw it, and has the balls to tour as Grand Fonk Railroad. If Mark Farner isn't playing guitar, it's not Grand Funk Railroad. He's nothing but a self righteous, gutless prick. To this day he can't give anyone THE REASON as to why they won't let Farner back into his own band. He either says no comment or gives some lying, bullshit reason that makes no sense. Farner's not sinking songs written by Brewer, but every night that GFR plays Brewer will sing songs written by Farner. Life is only good until it's not, Don.

I find it interesting how the guy in the band today that sings Mark's songs has a stage appearance that looks amazingly like Mark's back in the day. Coincidence or intentional deception? When I saw them a few years ago, at that time I wasn't aware Mark was no longer in the band. Based on past reunions I assumed it was still the original guys.

I have absolutely no respect for this guy and Mel for what they did to Mark. I used to love the dynamic of the group from the first time I heard them 50 years ago. Saw the original line up, with Craig Frost at MSG in 1974 and it was the best show!! Saw them again in 1996 at the Beacon for the Bosnia tour. Great show. But since then I've seen Mark several times, but I wouldn't go across the street to see this clown and the newer version of the band. It ain't GFR without Mark. And while Mark is touring the world, these guys are playing small venues and county fairs just before the puppet show.
