Interview with Chelle Wegand - Mouth Breathing Awareness

May is Mouth Breathing Awareness Month!
That means over the next month, I'll posting on social media trying to spread the word, and I've asked my amazing MyoMentor Graduates to help me out.
MyoMentor students and graduates are some of the most passionate dental and healthcare professionals I know, and many of them have struggled with their own myofunctional symptoms - mouth breathing, tongue-tie, sleep disordered breathing, and more.
So I'll be interviewing THEM to share their stories and highlight what they are doing in their practices and communities to help their patients.
Today I interviewed Chelle Wegand, a dental hygienist and myofunctional therapist from Battleground, Washington. She shared stories of her two sons. She's the first person I've interviewed who has discussed speech problems as a symptom of myofunctional problems.
Her oldest son has his tongue tie released as a baby so she never thought it was a problem. He had delayed speech a trouble pronouncing the "R" sound that continues to this day. He struggled with snoring and mouth breathing at night and it wasn't until Chelle had myofunctional training that she was able to connect the dots for her son.
Chelle's interview goes further into discussing her other son's thumb sucking habit, her own clenching and grinding and TMJ issues, as well as her husband's sleep apnea.
Her family's array of symptoms really demonstrates how prevalent these myofunctional problems are!
Chelle's myofunctional therapy practice is called Myofunctional Fitness. She just started her practice so the best way to get in touch with her is by email or facebook below:
