I have no idea why people have given this the thumbs down , this human being has obviously struggled with issues ....but overcame them not only to succeed in an aviation career but as become a well rounded and very interesting person regardless of gender . I think she would make an excellent recruitment officer .

It's sad that some people have closed minds , I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but you give respect to such a brave lady and pilot.
Proud to have Caroline as a personal friend. Such an amazing career and motivational speaker...brilliant well done AI!

Thirty five years of service to her country. My admiration for the way the Royal Air Force listened to Caroline. Our armed services are a manifestation of the sort of people we are or they are nothing.
Respect both to Caroline and the RAF.
A very enjoyable interview. She has had a remarkable career in the defense of our country and a brave person. Much respect.
She just gained my respect... when she said "Burners" and not freaking reheat... Thank you, Caroline!
Fantastic interview with Carol, just goes to show she had to overcome a few obstacles in her life /career and didn't let it affect her, very interesting and informative, great work Mike

Aircrew Interview cheers Mike, and so you should too, if anything you are raising there public profile, which is great for them and yourself. Again thanks very much :) I shall keep my eye open for that book.
Very interesting interview. I have seen many interviews long and short with military pilots from the RAF, USAF, USN, etc. None of them came across as ''Maverick'' or ''Iceman''. They seem very cool, calm, measured and level headed.

+thefrecklepuny Glad you enjoyed it, i have interviewed a fair few guys/gals now and i can honestly say non are like that, all great people.
Fantastic interview, amazing career. I hung on every word despite the traffic noise...
I always enjoy this format as well as the stories and assignments served. I didn't read the comments before seeing the video, hence I was a bit confused by this pilot who looks like a woman by sounds like a guy as well as trying to figure out how long again women have been serving in the RAF given the USAF has been allowing women in fighting training for something like 15 years if that long ago. After the video, I get it and all I can think to say is "You must have a never ending supply of courage". I can't imagine how hard it was for you to endure what it took to match you inside with you on the outside. Then to have to re-introduce the you as a woman to all your associates and friends, that had to be terribly hard. You're Carolyn the fighter pilot, I hope your have nothing but happiness for the rest of your life.

Very kind words and I am sure Caroline will come across this comment. Caroline has recently brought a book out (we get a small mention in it) and you can watch her latest appearance on TV chatting about her story. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZJpmys-zkZnUpto.html

Pilots are pilots; male, female, big, small, black, white, green, near-sighted. far-sighted, fat, thin, with nuts or whithout. Get used to it. Love of flying is not a private club.
Superb!! A great insight into a fascinating career. She can be rightly proud of her contribution to our defence. Best of luck with your new job in helo tactics Caroline.
Very interesting about the F-4. Caroline is a very great speaker.
I really enjoyed this interview. What a great career she has had. Yes another great video. Thanks

Superb interview. I wish I had the intelligence and drive as Caroline. I am obsessed with aviation and my kids to this day always bang on about me getting my PPL but I am skint and can't afford that.

Superb interview of a superb interviewee.
Same CIO as i joined up in Liverpool, i rejoined in Norwich, the RAF demonstrates itself here as a true meritocracy, regardless of gender.
Amazing woman and top marks to the RAF and her colleagues for supporting her.Just recently passed Leuchars gate and there was an LGBT flag flying along side the Army flag.

Interesting that she thought the Flying Scholarship/ PPL was perhaps a disadvantage compared with elementary flying traing on the Chipmunk. Perhaps the EFTS on the chipmunk instilled standards more like those on basic flying training? Memorising all checklists for example, or perhaps a faster pace of learning?
Brilliant video as always. Very interesting lady.

Terrific interview yet again. Always interesting to see how aircraft/air crews roles evolve through time . Delighted to see British forces attitude towards transgenderism.
Get Mike down to Bruntingthorpe... Yes! Bruntingthorpe should have been made a heritage site a long while ago... now to get XH558 Down there ;)

Caroline, what a truly inspirational women you are, a great story, a fascinating interview.
I think smart people realize these days that pilots and love of flight knows no race, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, religion, etc. etc. etc. That's not being PC at all. It's just reality.

Fascinating story, perhaps recording somewhere with less annoying background noise could be considered.
What a fascinating and humanly honest interview with a truly interesting person. A clear treatise on the challenges of military flying and of adapting in a world that is only just beginning to acknowledge and accept who Caroline truly is. With the challenges still facing transgender teens and the hideous suicide rate among that group Caroline's example of courage and sheer determination to be who she knows she is is very uplifting.
16:50 hahah love it
Bit different this interview - But really worth watching whole thing - Very unique story and someone who has worked through Iraq & Helmand to help UK Ground Forces

Most interesting.
What a wonderful woman...
Splendid.
I am confused af... and if I am wrong, which is very possible given the RAF history isn't my strength, but I thought Penny Wild was the first and only female Phantom pilot?
@Mors_Inimicis
4 жыл бұрын
Kitzkrieg Hobbies Yes , Penny was the only female pilot or navigator in the RAF on the F4
Caroline did any Navigators vomit in the back seat due to lack of visible references ahead ? One ex Wing Commander (Navigator )retired who taught me how to navigate ships as Officer On Watch said the canopy was simply to let the light in. I took this as a joke but he also disliked Pilots who thought they knew it all. I later went onto do my Multi Licence and IMC Rating plus others as I wasn't the right stuff for the RAF.

FunnySkies You need to get that sorted , if you have more balls then I suggest you are more selective in your choice of gender reassignment surgeon next time. He’s clearly fucked up if you have ended up with more bollocks, they were meant to be in the bin weren’t they ?

Great interview but spoiled for me somewhat as its forty - not fordy, navigator not navigador. Otherwise fascinating to listen to, great career

Have you heard of the wonderful thing we have called 'accents'? If slight pronunciation can somewhat spoil an otherwise great interview, consider reevaluating your elitist priorities.
@munson71
3 жыл бұрын
@@GrunOne who shat in your litter tray? Elitist priorities?? a) I don't understand the context (and probably neither do you!) and b) I'm from t'north and have no such agenda, don't consider myself better or worse than anybody else and c) also held the queens commission as aircrew and pronunciation of numbers and letters as part of RT technique and housekeeping is of the highest importance. So please, take a step back and wind your neck in. You forgot the part I said about fascinating to listen to and a great career you cock womble...
@GrunOne

@@munson71 You shouldn't be surprised that you might catch some flak from others when you complain about someone in a public setting. If you want to know what I meant: 'Priorities' as in the things that you feel are important enough to publicly complain about. Certainly pronunciation is important enough to you that you need to tell everyone. 'Elitist' as in the fact that apparently you feel you are in the rightful position to be telling this retired person how they should be speaking. (I do agree that elitist comes off a little too strong but it's what came to mind at the time.) Now cock womble is a little too British for me but it's charming nonetheless.
