Great interview. There are other interviews and panel talks where Bruce goes into more detail on what he's referring to as "manufacturing."
I think he needs to be more specific about 'manufacturing.' I get the impression he is referring more to the displacement of an old technology with a new one since you can have regional or monopoly like attributes in a manufacturing firm and conversely you can have disruption of a service business like Uber and taxis which are not manufacturers.

I think his overall point was, if you have an industry with rising productivity and slowing demand, you'll end up with less employment and slimmer margins by definition. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes things difficult for blue-collar workers (rise of Trump, etc).
