artnet is thrilled to present an in-depth conversation with Brooklyn-based artist Wangechi Mutu (Kenyan, b.1972), interviewed by senior specialist, Heather Russell, about the current survey of her work, Wangechi Mutu: A Fantastic Journey, at the Brooklyn Museum.

One of the most amazing artists in the contemporary art world. Mutu has the ability to address tough issues of colonialism and being a prodigal daughter in a foreign land, as well as tackling gender and race stereotypes. That being said, she produces fantastical imagery that even the most low-brow art fan can digest, simply put - her collages are kick ass. She is a huge inspiration.
I have been interested in this artist for a number of years now, in a half hour interview do you think it would be possible to have a little more than 45 seconds of art work shown?
