This is a conversation between Kiyo Shimizu, who became the silver medalist in the women's karate division at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, and Keno Mabuni, the 3rd head of Shitokai who has nurtured Shimizu since he was a little girl.
It was a calm discussion where I could hear Shimizu's true feelings, such as his determination for next year's world competition after the Olympics, and his message to children who aspire to karate.

This is a side of Kiyou Shimizu I thought I'd never see. Laughing, joking, smiling, etc. I'm used to seeing her as a stone cold kata machine on the mat. It's nice seeing this side of her. I was a fan already, but I like her even more.

Durante los juegos Olímpicos, en todas las fases de participación, preliminares y de calificación a otavos de final; cuartos de final; y semifinales, Shimizu Kiyou san obtuvo la más alta calificación, entre todas. Me ocupé de ir anotandolo. Fue curioso que en la final la calificaran menos que la española, obteniendo la medalla de plata. En esa última kata, Shimizu san también fue la mejor. Los jueces adolecieron de falta de objetividad. En mi opinión Shimizu Kiyou san mereció la medalla de oro.
