Dave Allen great comedian, Clive James great comedic interviewer .

I think Dave Allen just about gave Clive a facial tick in the interview :) Two amazing intellects sadly no longer with us but thankfully they live on through their work.

In Aus Clive James is or was an amazing intellect. Over here he was a smug self regarding windbag.

Dave Allen was a genius story teller

Clive James was about the best interviewer on TV. He was not full of himself, or his own opinion, and never let the interviewee struggle to get a word in edge-ways. He asked intelligent and respectful questions, always listened, and one learnt a lot about the person he interviewed. Few, and I repeat few, more so on today's media, are like him. Jonathon Ross and Richard Madeley could have learnt from this guy.

Paul - think you're getting confused with Clive Anderson - quite a differen cup of java and nowhere close to the talent or intellect of Clive James

Was an utter genius in story telling , could read the phone book and make it hilarious.

Loved both these blokes.

10:30 after Spitting Image, watching the The Clive James Show with all the European adverts and Endurance ( Japanese game show) It was the only thing that made thinking I had to go to school the next day worthwhile. Dave Allen was also awesome, as a kid, I thought he was the height of sophisticated comedy. As an adult, he’s just bloody funny

When giants of satire meet.

This was one of the last interviews that Dave Allen did. The other one was in the same year(1998) and on Clive Anderson's talk show on BBC. He was sort of semi retired by then, but still very funny.

Bloody hilarious!

Two absolute legends, both very funny in their own ways, now up in heaven sharing plenty of great jokes.

Dave Allen’s appearances on Saturday Night Clive were always funny. On another episode Clive showed a US made video about toilet training small children. Dave’s comments afterwards made me laugh out loud.

Suddenly wonder if modern digital prowess could manufacture a joint debate of James, Allen and Hitchins.

Binge watch Dave Allen until it hurts.

Some great stories but foxes and dogs can not interbreed.

Dave Allen was just doing his act from start to finish , Learned nothing about him . I wouldn't call it an interview .
