This trip-hop mix feels like a nice Sunday walk in the park with a warm 75 degrees, a few puffy clouds in a deep blue sky all by yourself with no people noise and just a bird here and there. You're walking by yourself enjoying the fresh air and then a giant hole opens up in front of you and you slip down into it and slide your way for 1:15:54 into sonic bliss and then pop out and go about your day totally refreshed.

Man, Kanute-"Not Sleeping" sounds so familiar. I'm struggling to find if it was sampled by a band or if someone used their lyrics or maybe even if Kanute covered the song. Serena like those lyrics were on a rock song popular in the 2000s but I just can't place it. Also, that last track "Delta Dawn" had me trippin cuz it sounds like "Catfish John" by Grateful Dead. The Dead had a way of borrowing from old standards and gospels so I'm not suprised, but just happy I noticed the similarities! Now if only I could do that with "Not Sleeping"

Man, I don't even know where to start. I listen to your mixes everywhere. At work, travelling, even home... just, fucking thank you. I appreciate your work. I am writing a book. It's about a noir detective, living on a giant colony ship travelling for centuries through hyperspace. I would love to include something from you in my story as a tribute to your stellar creativity. Anything. Be it a name, a character or a place. I will work it in. Love ya. Drew.

Thanks for that. It's really encouraging to know that these mixes have helped you in some way. As for your story I've given this some thought and here is what I got... Throughout the history of the channel my life has been anything but stable. I've moved all over the country, lived in and out of motels, had all kinds of jobs and met with people from all walks of life. However... There has been one thing that I've kept with me throughout my journeys - My cat. Her name is Mama and she taught me how to love again. If you could work her into the story I think that would be pretty cool. For some reason I think if she were in Hyperspace, she'd probably be wearing a monocle and maybe have some sort of cybernetic enhancements, though that part isn't so necessary. Thanks for thinking of me, let me know when you finish your book. I'd love to read it. Best of luck with it too :)

Thank you for such an awesome reply. This is one of the reasons why I fell in love with your channel. Mama it is. I have a rough idea as to what I shall do with her, and she will be especially what you wanted - and more! But first, lemme remind you of a certain comment you have written elsewhere. Somebody has asked you how did you come up with your name. You gave this nice, elaborate reply, and mentioned writing a book, not telling anyone about it and then dying with it either next to you, or burning it yourself (can't recall now, apologies). It is such a cool concept, and because I felt like you would appreciate it, I shall give you another one. I will write this book. Fuck everything else. I will. Even if I were to do it only because of you. But it will be published in Czech. Which means that unless you learn Czech, or by some random chance it gets translated, you will never be able to read it. So somewhere in the world there will be a couple hundred books that will forever feature your beautiful cat, and it will just be lost in existence.

  • @confusedbi

That is fucking beautiful. It's like our intents, whatever they may be, aren't really our own. Somewhere out in the universe are dreams are being played out and even if we decide to change them, somewhere and to someone they are as true as they once were for ourselves. That's really beautiful and kinda sad. It's like our lives are soooo important, yet almost meaningless and it's terribly exciting, seeing the world unfold like this. Best of luck to you on the journey. I'll make sure you have some fresh music to listen to, if nothing else. Thanks for this, it makes me happy :)

Publish/share your books, both of you. Everything is worth more when shared. Allow the books to penetrate someone else's mind. If you are afraid to put your own name, use pseudonyms. One of the greatest writers in my country used pseudonyms (more precisely, heteronyms), one for each of his multiple personalities.

I love how this mix still inspires people and it still gets comments to this day. As a former DJ, I've listened to a lot of mixes and this is literally one of my favorite Trip Hop mixes right up there with The Psychonaut's Essential Mix, UNKLE's Throwdown Mix, The Chemical Brother's Brothers Gonna Work It Out, DJ Shadow's In Tune and On Time, and Bonobo's Essential Mix. A DJ can only hope to achieve musical nirvana once in their life by creating a mix as good this one. This isn't a mix. It's a musical journey that takes you to far away places featuring some of my favorite Trip Hop songs that were introduced to me through this mix. One can never hope to surpass a masterpiece like this one but perhaps a superfan could be inspired by this mix to create a tribute mix? Fortunately, I'm a former DJ and I asked Confused Bi-Product of a Misinformed Culture if I could post a follow-up mix meant to be a spiritual successor to this mix, because I had wished that there was an Interstellar Trip Hop 2 or Interstellar 2: A Trip Hop Mix (if we're using the original naming convention). I can't hope to surpass this masterpiece - just too many classics in it - but perhaps I can be inspired by this mix to create a similar feel and sound that fans of this mix can enjoy. He enjoyed listening to an early draft of the resulting video and gave his approval for use of the title of my premiere mix (because he's awesome like that). For fans of what is now a legendary mix, here's my authorized tribute mix respectfully made in homage to this mix called: "Interstellar Trip Hop 2". I truly hope that you enjoy it. Having issues with new draconian KZread posting rules even for non-commercial, DMCA fair use - maybe I can stream it? - so the tribute mix is being posted on Soundcloud and Vimeo for now. * Interstellar Trip Hop 2 * Audio version: soundcloud.com/jay2da-b/interstellar-trip-hop-2 Video version: vimeo.com/382728616

I've collected hundreds of tracks and playlists to listen to while working, because as someone with ADHD, this kind of music is necessary for me to concentrate and get work done. I have to say this. NOTHING works as well as this particular playlist. To say its a masterpiece is an understatement. Every time I get stuck in my work (which is frequent in people with ADHD) and I just CANNOT get things done, I put on this playlist, and bam, it ALWAYS gets done. ALWAYS. You have a magic my friend. A special, unrivalled magic. I'm so glad I came across your channel. It's special to me, and this is most definitaly my favourite playlist. Love you, and looking forward to more.
