If anyone's curious, the into starts with three bars of 5/4 and then one bar of 3/4. I think it changes later on but that's the overarching structure. Excellent song!

True! It goes 3/4 on the chorus and the ending too, and switches back to 5/4 for most of the song. Pretty unorthodox for Interpol, yet unreal and fascinating.

The guitar work has often been unconventional with Interpol but that makes it more listenable IMO

Interpol refuses to make an album that doesn’t blow ur mind. They’ve never disappointed me. Fav band of all time.

Joy Division were their template. Still my Favourite. But they are with the National as good as any else around today . Also like Low, London Grammar and Wolf Alice.

Have liked them since seeing them live around 2003 in Birmingham UK. Not my fav band of all time though . One of them with Wall of Voodoo, The Velvet Underground and Fleetwood Mac and of course the Beatles. Favourite current band = The National . Saw them play a near Two hour set at the Depot, Manchester last Saturday . They were sensational /brilliant. It helped I was only a few feet away from the front of the stage = no moat ! also like LP, London Grammar and Wolf Alice

Yeah, the lyrics don't suck, either. This track is an absolute cocktail of vocal, 4-string, 6'er, skins, and some pretty solid "engineering and production" with the fill. The changes in cadence and vocal tone are very freestyle in nature. All in all, it is very eclectic and it all WORKS VERY WELL! TREMENDOUS!

Listening to this while walking through a city at night hits different🔥

When I first heard the song on the album, it was probably the weakest for me, didn't really feel it. But now It's just absolute masterpiece, definitely one of the best not in just this album, but Interpol discography as a whole. Love it so much, the atmoshpere is so unbelievable.

What a dark gem of a masterpiece. Gorgeous 🖤

Hauntingly beautiful with some truly rad progressions and an almost ethereal feel. Strangely, it puts me in the mind of some Bauhaus material, with somewhat updated production. Tremendous track!
