Mine is a '19 LT and the TPMS (tire pressure monitor system) has a failure so that infernl chime is constant. My dash, etc is a bit different, mine doesnt have the light brightness button it has a manual type dial (up or down) and has a trip odometer (1 and 2)...I tried holding the brightness dial to the top while resettting Trip1 Odometer but that didn't reset the chime....any other ideas for resetting the chime on my International model? I even considered wrapping the chime speaker to muffle the chime but couldn't find it amongst the wiring when i removed the lower dash panel to look for it.

Unfortunately I haven’t played with enough of the newer LT’s to see if there’s a trick to do the same thing on those or not so I can’t offer any additional helpful advice aside from trying to wrap or plug up the chime speaker as you said you were already trying to do but I k is they’re a pain to pinpoint lol

Tony, volvo fm9 (Ireland ) the dial in cab for switching between cold and warm air is broken, stuck on warm, not good this time of year ☺I've been driving scanias most of the time and know where the manual opener and closer is under hood, searched all around volvo and can't find it, any ideas?

Did the actual dial break or does it just not seem to be doing anything? I would open the hood and check the firewall for where the heater cord hoses come out. Follow those and see if there’s any manual shut-off’s in-line with the heater hoses. If not, you may have a blend door or switch issue.

Kind of hard to pinpoint it without some testing, but I’m guessing your actual air pressure is fine since i normally can’t fluctuate like that. You’re probably looking at faulty wiring, instrument cluster, body controller, or somehow both pressure sensors went out at the same time. But again, hard to pinpoint without actually looking at it.

Yeah it MIGHT not work with the low air buzzer. Some situations it just simply won't stop beeping, but it's worth a shot. I believe the beeper itself is housed just below the cluster but I can't remember which side of the steering column it's on. Another gentleman in the comments here said he located it and jammed a rag in the speaker compartment and that made it much more bearable lol.

My low air alarm woke me up (cool bought, with air bleed off) and with the key in the off position and the auto start/stop button system on, this trick didn't work. I tried putting the key in the accessory position, it still didn't work. It only works with the key in the 'ON' position, which of course disables the auto start/stop system. Am I just out of luck and can't use the auto start/stop when it's cold?

Yeah unfortunately the key has to be on, so if your auto start is disabled with the key on then you’ll need to get the actual problem fixed in order for everything to work properly. Possibly just the air tank pressure sensor itself

There’s really no way to do that. The gauge often reads empty with a red warning light when there’s a general error with the DEF system. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the sending unit is bad. It’s generally caused by a broken wire or bad DEF quality. A lot of times, changing the DEF and DEF filter then running a regen will remedy the issue but without knowing the exact code, it’s a bit hard to troubleshoot.

I have a 2014 Int Terrastar, somehow whenever I put the fuse in for the windshield wipers i get an alarm for brake pressure. I’ve tried this hack, but couldn’t get it to stop the alarm from chirping.. any ideas?

It’s pretty hard to diagnose without being able to see the truck unfortunately. Does the truck have hydraulic or air brakes?

I think there is a cable going from dial to heater, when u turn from warm to cold it's doing nothing, staying on warm, just can't find the manual shut off. it's very easy to find on scania, just lift grill and it's right under front window, thanks for the reply

If it’s not the same noise as shown in this video, but rather a buzzing or humming noise, it’s likely your electronic brake assist motor not shutting off for some reason. The motor helps assist you with braking in the event that you lose hydraulic/vacuum assist. You can check the fuse box on the passenger side dash and on the drivers side steer fender under the hood to see if there’s any fuses or relays for that brake assist motor that may be bad. Otherwise there may be an issue with your ignition where it’s still sending power even with the key off, or the motor itself could be shorted out. Hard to pinpoint exactly without being there to check it out but hopefully this gives you some idea.

Tony I have a 2016 d13. The low air warning buzzer works with the truck started. It will not work with the key in the in position Any suggestions

I assume you're talking about a Volvo? I think that's how they make them to be honest. I've noticed when doing DOT inspections on a lot of Volvo's, they typically have the visual light indicator showing that the truck is low on air if the key is on, but won't actually sound the chime unless it's running.

Tony The Truck Guy Yes it is a Volvo. I have someone testing in it Friday and one of the air brake pieces is that with the key on and truck off to bleed the brakes down to 60 lbs til the alarm comes on. There are plenty of lights that come on but no alarm.

I've got an older freight shaker and when I drop the air bags a buzzer goes off. I do that to level the truck out to sleep lol. Not a problem when the truck is off, but if I need ac or heat I just idle the truck. Is there a way to do a temp or permanent disable of that buzzer?

Not that I know of unfortunately. Unless you were to cut the wire going to the buzzer, but it might be the same buzzer as your low air warning so that would be a no-no for DOT lol

It’s possible if it has an On Guard system or other system like Bendix that has forward radar and lane assist. Would have to be a pretty new International, though.

@Tony The Truck Guy I started working for a terrible company and the first day I drove which I've been driving for years but the first day I noticed the alignment was off so I was on the line a few times and she's like oh well trucks this big can't keep a good alignment and the international will make a loud noise on either side of the inside of the cab if I go over a line and they don't have brand new trucks. The one I'm driving now has over 230 thousand miles on it but I just thought that was a crazy thing to say!

@@avibeontherun You can definitely get a decent alignment if all the suspension and steering components are not worn and whoever does the alignment does it right. International dock trucks all ride like shit, though. The rear suspension sits on the bump stops from factory.

It looks like the LT is just their new truck line, advertised as being the most fuel efficient and aerodynamic truck they’ve built. Unfortunately I haven’t got to play with a truck that new yet so I can’t tell you any guaranteed fixes. You’d think there would be a setting you can change in the instrument cluster but if you aren’t seeing anything there then I’m not sure unfortunately.

Hmm. Not sure what air noise you are referring to. The instrument cluster makes a bit of a whirring noise each time the ignition is cycled, but that’s all I can think of. Otherwise I wouldn’t worry about it. If the ABS light stays on even after you start driving down the road, you’ll have to have someone scan it to see what codes is active and troubleshoot from there.

My prim and 2nd air gauges pointing straight down & alarm constant. Know a fix?

There are many possibilities, bad pressure sensors, bad instrument cluster, bad body controller.... I’d start simple and disconnect your batteries for about 10-15 minutes then go from there.

Hey I'm having this same problem did you get your's fix if so what's the cause of it

If this does not work, which in my case, did not work, then I have a bandaid... through losing my damn mind over constantly hearing this beeping, i finally found where it's coming from. If you put your head under the dash panel light dimming switch and look at the bottom of the dash... up by the wires and everything. There is a small circular hole kinda above the back of the dimmer panel. If that made any sense. That hole is where the beeper is at. My temporary fix was just using the tools i had handy, i stuffed a balled up piece of mcdonalds napkin in there. I can no longer hear it. However if you feel like opening your dash and unplugging it, that will work too. But a balled up piece of napkin works great too. Just have to stuff it into the hole.

It only works with key turned to on position. But once truck is running, it doesn't work, the alarm continues to sound. All my gauges on right don't work either, like volts, fuel, air. And DISAB (rollback assist) blinks. I have 2016 International. Any ideas? Lol, yes, I'll eventually get it to a shop.

It seems to also work with the engine running, but only for limited issues. I’d say body controller issues or wiring if it’s a clump of gauges not working. We have had a few in our shop act up and people shotgunned gauges at them without curing it.

If the PTO is always engaged, your switch is likely bad. Try holding the regen button with truck in park and see if the light goes off after a parked regen.

Hi thanks I tryed that and the regen comes on for 10sec then stops so the pto light coms off but it says to do a regen now then it comes on for 10 seconds so I put my diagnostic machine on on these are all the codes po404 exhaust gas recirculating and p2174 throttle actuator control system sudden low air flow any ideas thanks Wayne I’ve been trying to fix this for four years now

On the international trucks, the dash will sometimes display “cruise set/PTO on” in the dash cluster. Is that what you mean when you say the PTO is engaged? Or does the truck actually have a PTO with a separate switch that stays lit up? As far as the regen goes, it’s probably running for 10 seconds then cancelling out because of the 2 engine faults that you listed. Those will need to be fixed before the truck will do a successful regen. Both codes could be caused by either a failed component itself, wiring, or computer issues. You would have to figure out which pins to check for each component at the engine ECM, then test wires from there to the EGR and throttle valves. Or bring the truck to a shop for diagnostic confirmation if it’s over your head or you don’t have the proper wiring diagram.

Not working for my low air pressure with key on On position 😭 any tips? Update: key on accessory position worked but not all the way to the left. Awesome thanks so much dude, now I can watch TV in peace without the buzzer going off.

Typically if it’s beeping, there’s a warning light on the dash or a message displayed in the odometer. If it’s not doing any of that, it’s going to be pretty hard to pinpoint the issue.

I hadn’t seen the CA message before, so I Googled it. Apparently if you have an automatic truck, CA means Clutch Abuse. Apparently it comes on when the clutch gets hot, aka slipping. This happens while backing up, or just if you’re slipping the clutch too much. If your foot isn’t on the clutch pedal and you’re not working the truck hard, but it has the CA light on, that may be an indicator that your clutch is failing.

It will continue to get worse until the lurch is slipping completely and you can’t move basically. I’m now sure on the cost of the actual clutch for an automatic, but I think typical clutches for rigs run about a grand give or take. Plus about 12-20 hours of labor.

Unfortunately the truck does not work for every warning message. I would try a few more times to make sure you’re doing it right. I’ve also heard that disconnecting the batteries for about a half hour could do the trick but if that fails, you’ll likely have to fix the actual issue. Here in MN, ABS is required to work in order to pass a DOT inspection anyways.

I’m not aware of any way to silence the alarm on those. I’m not certain that you even can to be honest. Usually the Cascadia only makes noise when you’re low on air or have red check engine light on. What’s the issue with yours?

Brakes are squishy as hell but theyve been like this for nearly 3 years and the company refuses to fix them.

Ahhhhh. So literally sounds like the two issues are related haha. The brake pressure light is one of the more severe warnings for the beeper so I don’t think you can silence it until the actual brakes are fixed. Typically a truck that size probably just has a smaller compressor and air tank assembly unit which commonly fails but yeah I would be screaming at the company for not having safe equipment that you have to drive.

Question 2015 prostar. When I turn the key off acc power remains on no matter what I do.

Well THAT’s no bueno. Even if you have the lights off and key out of the ignition? If that’s the case, then it kinda sounds like a faulty ignition or body controller which would of course take some troubleshooting to figure out.

@@TonyTheTruckGuy yes, key off and out. Lights off. The only way to stop it is to pull cluster and radio breakers. Also I have no bunk lights. Not sure if they are connected issues. It doesn't malfunction all the time tho. Another thing it will do is when it does cut off while the apu is running everything will light up from time to time and then cut back off

None of that makes any sense unless there’s some sort of issue where the cluster or radio are getting unwanted power and back feeding to the ignition. That wouldn’t explain the APU stuff though. Have you verified battery connections are all clean and tight and not contacting anything that they shouldn’t be?

Tony The Truck Guy well actually my volt meter dips and beeps. Has been at the shop over a week and can find nothing wrong. So when driving it just beeps and beeps randomly all day. Sometimes it'll just beep the three time and be gone. Later it'll beep and beep non stop.

Ah, this trick is not working for you because it would need to be done every time the beeping starts. When the truck is off, it only tries to beep once so unfortunately the only way to stop it is to fix it or tear apart the instrument cluster and disconnect the beeper.

Did not work on my 07 dt466 straight truck but I found where the beeping was coming from and unplugged it

Yeah it depends on why the truck is beeping. Som alarms can’t be silenced. Sounds like you found the little beeper behind the dash haha

@@fdiscua19 Pretty sure it comes from the instrument cluster itself but if you look under the dash there’s usually a small area you can jam a rag or something to quiet it down.

@@fdiscua19 If you run your hand under the dash panel behind the light switches to the cluster ther is a round little speaker and a small white plug you can unplug

Check the side of the brake master cylinder, which should be mounting under the hood on the driver's side of the firewall. There should be 2 sensors going to it. 1 of them is notorious for snapping off. If it's broken, you'll have to extract the broken piece and replace the sensor, or worst case scenario, replace the master cylinder if you can't extract the broken piece. If the sensor does not appear to be broken, it could still be faulty, so you would have to replace the sensor, or take an ohm reading and find the spec on the sensor. Aside from that, you could have air in the system, or even just be low on brake fluid. The only way to tell for sure would be to scan the truck and see if there's any codes in the ABS ECU.

That’s likely part of your Bendix Wingman system. The forward radar would need to be disabled either in the truck or sometimes by laptop.

Tape a pop can to the sensor on the front bumper. Spray paint the can black first and make sure to remove it before going to any terminal or shop.

Certain triggers for this alarm can’t be silenced with the engine running. What light are you trying to reset?

I tried it and it worked for about 3 minutes and then the beeping started again. Now the trick won’t work at all. It keeps throwing “electrical fault” even though nothing is wrong. The brake pressure, brake fluid, ABS, and TC lights all come on. The brake sensor has been replaced twice already. All fluids and everything are full and it has hydraulic brakes

If there’s an active issue like that then it won’t work unfortunately, you’ll have to figure out why all those lights are on and repair the issue. You’ll likely need to scan for codes to see what’s going on.

To my true truckers out there, I just found my solution during driving. Make sure you turn off the PDL switch 👍🏾🤦🏾‍♂️

Not yet but I will. In the meantime, here is the procedure: 1.) set parking brake 2.) turn key to the “on” position but don’t start 3.) press “cruise on” switch 4.) press “cruise off” switch 5.) press “cruise on” switch 6.) rapidly press the “cruise resume” switch 4 times and hold it down on the 5th time for at least 4 seconds 7.) “oil change” message should clear This might take a few tries to get the pattern down right and sometimes even if you do get it right, you will still need to do it a few times. I’ve actually had a few trucks that just never cleared for some reason. After every attempt, I turn the ignition off and back on. Hope this helps.

Only works when the trucks off. Key in acc. Turn on and the alarm starts again

It's DOT violation if low air buzzer is not working but is ok for some other thing

It varies by state. Here in MN, you just need a visual low air warning, audible is not required, however this trick is not permanent and is only used during truck service.

Any idea where the speaker is located? Sounds like it's coming from behind the panel there the mirror heater/light switch/ panel light adjuster is. I'm going to stick a knife in this thing. It would not be as annoying if it weren't so GOD DAMN LOUD!

Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure the speaker is built into the instrument cluster. You’d probably have to cut it apart or smash it lol

man. i did this trick on the school bus, it wasn't until i was walking away until i realized that the child alarm was supposed to be beeping and then the horn alarm went off. any chance we can silence that horn alarm too? lol

So your truck dies every night? That’s very odd. With the lights turned off and the ignition off, nothing should be on. The LCD screen where the odometer is should stay lit for a minute after you close the door but then it should go out. It’s hard to tell what could be causing that without being able to look at the truck. I would check and fuses and relays related to the body controller or ignition.

Play job man I’m shrunk like you had a nice day just weren’t mad they would’ve beeping and beeping at you trying to talk and I hear the beeping but I can’t hear you. Oh my God I just ruined my day.

I did it but when I turn on the truck and start driving the beep comes back on.

Tony I have a 2010 international prostar. Where is the front AC blower? Is it easy to install ?

What do you mean by “A/C blower”? You mean just the blower motor for the cab? It should be located in front of the passenger seat. You’ll have to remove the plastic panel down by the foot area to access it. I can’t remember for sure but once the panel is removed (which is the hardest part), I believe there’s just 3 or 4 screws that old the blower motor in place. It’s about a 30 min - 1 hour job.

Yep, keep going until you see the blower motor. It should be black with 2 big wires coming from it and held in place with 3-4 screws.

The noise goes off with this method when its not running but when i start the truck the noise will not go away. Any thoughts?

That’s likely one of the issues that can’t be silenced once the engine is running because it’s a safety issue. You’ll have to actually get the brakes fixed. As you said, it will work with the engine off, but some alarms can’t be silenced with engine running.

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a fuse for it, the beeper is tied into the instrument cluster wiring, so you’d have to cut the wires going to the beeper or something

I don’t believe the low air can be silenced with the engine running as it’s a safety precaution but this is the only method I know to silence the alarm in any way unfortunately.

@@TonyTheTruckGuy oh ok. Auto Start/stop is a feature that allows the truck to start up and turn off when the volts drops below 12.1 are 12.2 so that the batteries will recharge.

Mine's beep because of the fuel light and now it's still beeping help please

Some of the functions that cause the buzzer to make noise just can’t be silenced unfortunately. If your truck is full on fuel and still beeping for low fuel, your fuel level sending unit is likely bad. They’re a common failure on Internationals.

@@TonyTheTruckGuy well the fuel light is not on but it is still beeping I'm just assuming that it's what's for fuel because when I was low in fuel the light came on and shortly after the beeping started but right now my whole dashboard is clear no lights but I'm still beeping

That’s very odd, usually there’s a warning light of some kind on the dash or at least a message by the odometer. If there’s really nothing on then you’ll likely have to bring it to the shop unfortunately to get it checked out.

Where is the alarm located? I'd like to just cut the wire to it.

It’s part of the instrument cluster motherboard. You have to take the cluster apart partially.

Thank you. I pulled the cluster out. Pulled the metal panel off the back. Unplug the speaker from the board. I also unplugged the horns so you don't get the stupid chime if your doors open and you try to drive around. Thanks for the video.

Federal regulations require this alarm if you disable it you will fail a level one inspection 😂😂😂

Correct. I believe the 2022 is the MV body style. Unfortunately, I am not aware of a cure for that one.

The main other reason the dashboard alarm goes off is when an emergency exit is opened, accompanying the beeper for the exits. If you were to just have the bus in neutral and shut it off without the brake, the alarm goes on continuously until you turn the key on. If your bus has a child check, the alarm will pulse simultaneously in the same way for about a minute until it stops and the horn starts to pulse. To clear that, you have to either depending on the model: A. Open the back door, or B. Press and hold the reset button in the back. The dashboard alarm may also pulse quickly 5 times when you start the engine.

The only worse warning sound besides international is a ford pick up!

WHY? those buzzer go off for a reason, it’s to let you know “Hey, there is a problem, must get it fixed”. If they didn’t want you to know, they would not make it buzz. Especially if it’s for a Air Brake buzzer.

Because when you’re a mechanic trying to work on a truck and it’s beeping at you for 3 hours, it gets pretty annoying. Important alerts such as low air can’t be silenced anyways.

This works unless you start the truck then the alarm will continue until tanks are full. We have an air leak that of course the shops (can’t find because no one take initiative anymore) so my wife and listen to this noise everyday. Oh you turn the key on and the silence does stop with this trick but go ahead and turn the key forward and start the truck then it starts the damn beeping again. 🙄🙄

@@TonyTheTruckGuy I think I have a slow airbag leak,I pumped the breaks to release & rebuild air… and tried your method again it worked for now! my heater bunk doesn’t work so I have to sleep with truck running hopefully it last, thanks again !
