One of them-volunteer firefighter and bank clerk Alexander Joy Cartwright-would codify a new set of rules that would form the basis for modern baseball, calling for a diamond-shaped infield, foul lines and the three-strike rule. He also abolished the dangerous practice of tagging runners by throwing balls at them."

America becomes an adult, gets all rebellious, gets into a big fight with their parent Britain, moves out, and then becomes "independent". Then after a while, they put aside their differences and become a family again while maintaining their own independence. They still drive each other crazy all the time, but in the end, they still love each other.
