Watched your previous video and then this one. You truly did a spectacular job on this truck and I am sure your grandfather or great grandfather would be proud knowing what you completed. And had the drive to complete this restoration. Thank you for sharing

Hansen’s did a great job on the wheels. And they did not pay me to say that. They are miracle workers and true craftsman. I’ve done my best and still have a bit to go. I’ll need to fabricate all the tailgate irons next.

That truck is as beautiful as your farm! The editing and video are right up there as well. Thanks so much for the ride along - I enjoyed it very much and will probably go for another ride before the end of the evening.

Bet there's not a lot of "off the shelf" parts left for that truck. If it breaks, you'll be making it yourself. It's stunning.

Thanks. The lathe and milling machine have been invaluable. Anything missing or needing re-bushing has been addressed. I do my best to retain the “as delivered from factory” configuration. And when original paint was found, I preferred to preserve it in place (tie rods, steering gear, hub caps, etc.

Nice truck! I imagine with the reverse flow of cooling air that the hood helps with cooling and is required when working hard in hot weather. Does it have a working temp gauge?

Truck has no instrumentation. However,I did replace the missing radiator cap with a reproduction Boyce MotoMeter. Cooling system is unpressurized. I imagine the hood will help with cooling once installed. The fan draws air from back of radiator forward and down and out across the engine. I had the radiator re-cored at The Brassworks in Pasó Robles, California. I had them build a new core to the same specs as the original round tube core. So far, so good. Looks correct. Holds about 6 gallons and doesn’t overheat.

Hey, just wanted to make contact with you. My father had a 1917 international truck, which I restored back in the 80s. He just passed away and I inherited it. I had it running about 5 years ago, but now I’m going to try and do a better restoration. Thanks for mentioning the wheel right, that will be my first item. Interestingly I have pneumatic tires on the back.

Nice to hear there’s another owner out there. These trucks are quite rare. I connected with a group on Facebook during the final stages of my restoration. I was needing final dimensions from original trucks to fabricate missing parts. International Harvester pre-1940 group. A few owners there continue to be extremely helpful. Referencing the Fred W. Crismon book, pneumatic tires were a $50 option above the $1500 base price, depending on model F or H. 36x5 pneumatics. I would expect all four wheels to have been either solid or pneumatic, but all I can go by are the old photos in the Crismon book. There are still few wheelwrights in the USA if that’s where you’re located. I highly recommend Hansen’s. Condolences on your father’s passing. B-1B? I was a mechanic on the final assembly line. Best of luck on your restoration.

Thanks for the tip on Facebook, I’ll connect with them. Quick question: where did you get your data plate, the one on the dash. Mine got stolen and I’d like to replace it. FWI, I flew the B-1, thus the name.

Aluma Photo-Plate Company in Houston has the files for data plate reproduction. I can send you the details via FB Messenger if you like.
