I have an 20 year old cub cadet that I’m about to retire. This week I will order a new one. But I always wanted one of the original models. This is a great video since it is nice to see how things were built with such excellent quality in American factories with pride.I’m still hopeful that somewhere there is an original cub cadet tractor sitting in a old barn waiting for me to find it.

1969 Cub Cadet 73 bought off original owner 25 years ago have used it ever since to mow many acres of lawn. She told be as I was leaving that day, "They Don't Make them like that no more" Boy was that an understatement 💛

I learned to "drive" on a 1961 'original!' The bluegrass music in this video is appropriate, considering the tractors were built in Kentucky!

Ron Kline Agree with you. The MTD junk out there is giving the Cub Cadet name a bad rap. International Harvester Cub Cadet tractors are the very best tractors in the world.

That's right K-161 7 hp Kohler engines for the first Originals,70,71,72 & 73 CC's...K-181 8 hp for the 86 and AQS 8 hp for the rare 800. I love the vintage pics of the Loiusville Works assembly line! Funny how they mounted the rims/tires coming off the line then took them back off to ship to dealers. RIP Ralph Stanley :(

Great video! I doubt I would have showed pics of MTD cubs. MTD has ruined the cub cadet name. I have 10 cubs from 1964 to 1979. My 122's are 50yrs old and still working today. MTD will never build anything to last that long

the 122 is my favorite of all time! That was my atv from 8 years to 16 years old!!! I would leave it full throttle, and dump the clutch in first, burn the tires for 5 feet, shift from first to second to third without the clutch popping wheelies and chirping the tires every gear!!! Now that Im 30 I wish I wasnt a stupid 16 year old and sold it.

@@gunsandatvs8703 I wouldn't say they are junk, but they are only lawn mowers now. and are comparable to all the other makers riding mowers, its a shame they dont make something we could put a plow or other farm gear on.They do make one that can lock the rear wheel drive . .

The art deco look of old tractors is far better than the more modern look of new tractors. A modern manufacturer who goes back to an art deco design will get a lot of sales.

mtd=junk. welcome to strongsville is there advertisements LOL. IH made these things strong, MTD ruined the brand and made it cheap disposable crap like everything else made in the last 20 some years. the last good garden tractors were the JD 300 and 400 series, and the last of the wheelhorse which pretty much ended in the mid-late 90's. i wonder if ingersol still makes a product, they used to be case and were decent too. i have a cub cadet original (1961) and a 1948 farmall cub.

andrew donohue You did alright in your writing, except ya had to mention juvinile delequient. I'm pure International Harvester Cub Cadet tractor, however don't crack up over juvinile deliquient tractors, that's what i call john deere tractors, juvinole delequient, or, green boogers. Let me tell ya a story here. A guy goes and checks out two tractors, one juvenile deliquient tractor, L.A. and a Farmall Cub tractor. Now this is a true story here. Guy buys the juvinile deliquient tractor. Then he goes and tells another fellow what he bought. The other fellow ssid, Why didn't you come to me, i could have given you better advice which of the two is the better tractor. They loaded both tractors, pound for pound with heavy bolders, the juvenile deliquient tractor did nothing but spin, while the Farmall Cub tractor pulled out of there like a scared gorilla. What's that tell ya about the good ole Farmall Cub tractors as opposed to juvinile deliquient tractors.

quincy962 MTD junk. Agree. The International Harvester Cub Cadet tractors are the very BEST tractors out there, none better! And i also own 2 Power King tractors along with a International Harvester Cub Cadet tractor 982 with a 50 inch mower deck. That tractor mowes beautifully, eats grass like it's nothin and many years of trouble free service. And folks, I wash and wax my tractors to, like to not only keep them running in top condition, like to keep them clean and well maintained.
