Today we have a 1915 International 8-16hp Mogul that we recently fixed up. It had been sitting for a fair while so we had to touch up a couple things but thankfully there were no significant issues. It runs great and drives smoothly. It's worth taking note that this tractor has a very minimalistic transmission, it has no shift lever and no clutch(!). On the left hand side of the tractor, there is a set of spinning drums. This is a planetary gear transmission. Using two sets of planetary gears and two brake bands, this tractors is able to produce one speed forward and one speed in reverse. This may not be much, but it was very simple, very reliable, and it got the job done.
This tractor also has local significance. It was the first gas tractor to be purchased and used in Clark County, Washington. Even now, it currently resides within miles of where it originally ran. We are very fortunate that this piece of our history still exists to be preserved.
