Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Ok, so you’ve tried it all. You've tried the general cure, you’ve tried the polypro, you've tried mixing metro in the food, but nothing seems to work.
Your fish still has white stringy poop, still has sunken belly, still has bloat, still has internal parasites!
Well this method I'm going to show you today is going to be your last resort, if this doesn't cure internal parasites in fish, nothing will!

As I am a complete newbie to fish keeping hobby so was just wondering how to treat for intestinal parasites etc. for small tropical freshwater fish which are around only 2cm- 4cm being the largest size in my 18.5-20 US Gallon fish tank or 70 litre which I have. As I had my firsh tank/ aquarium set up for over 1 year or around 1.5 years doing fishless cycling method and having growing out some live plants using Fritz Zyme 7 live nitrifying bacteria and for natural ammonia using Fritz zyme fishless fuel. According to my local pet store/ fish store they said my fish tank water was very well cycled and very good consistent water parameters except that my water PH being slightly high at 7.6 and also quite high water hardness but other than that completely good. I have quite a lot of live beginner aquarium plants covering nearly my whole aquarium and the fish I have are 5 small red cherry barbs, 2 bright and wonderful Yellow Honey Gourami and 2 beautiful black/ greyish colour Dwarf Suckermouth Catfish/ Otto which are very much like plecos (Latin name: Otocinclus. sp.) As they only tend to stick to the sides of my glass fish tank or on top of ornaments or my live plants. As for regarding health generally majority of the fish look very nice, vibrant colour and swimming around well however one of the red Cherry barb is looking quite sluggish or at least down at the bottom of the fish tank by himself and not eating much mostly unlike the other community fish or possibly something red sticking out of it's underside belly lile bloat possibly??? I have also one of catfish I noticed strangely just started yesterday white stringy poop coming out as it was swimming around which if correct according to my research/ knowledge is obvious sign of intestinal parasites etc. Other than that all my other fish such as my 2 Yellow Honey Gourami are completely fine and seem to be very healthy and doing very well, looking fine and eating well etc. Any useful information/ tips and advice would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. As obviously unlike in this wonderful KZread video I obviously can't treat fish individually by taking them out of the fish tank and lying them flat on a towel etc. as my fish are way too small. Also unfortunately as I don't have enough money I only have 1 fish tank so no other separate fish tank to use as a hospital tank to treat the fish that maybe looking sick in my opinion individually. As recommended by Kaveman Aquatics KZread channel I have been using since I bought my fish (not bought all at once obviously) using Seachem stability and Seachem Prime and Seachem Flouish Advance for my live plants. Thank you, Kind regards, Tom from UK.

0 nitrate is strange. When your bacteria convert ammonia and nitrite it will add nitrate. Maybe something is wrong with your test kit, try a new one and make sure your water really is ok.

Hi Kev. I’ve been. Educating my fish with API GC since Saturday evening. One starting flashing against a barrel decor inside the tank (couple of times). I kept my eye on her and by the end of the night I seen two others do it. Did not see any white spots on any of the fish. No distress is seen in them no rapid breathing, still are eating and swimming around. Followed instructions and so far still flashing (all of them now). Can’t raise the heat on the tank heater cause I don’t have that option (standard heater that came as a kit). Been checking water parameters, been good. Keeping tank clean….I tried low dose salt (really low) but my Cory’s scared the bajesus out of me so I did a water change and they are ok. I have no idea what to do and there are literally NO vets near me who specialize in fish. Best I got was to call the Shedd Aquarium (live near Chicago) and ask them who their vet is. Even the local pet stores basically just try to treat their fish on their own. I’m at a loss and don’t want this to get worse. Any advice? How long does this usually take? I have platys and the two Cory’s

You are absolutely amazing ❤️ I am from India🇮🇳, My dad brought 20 gallon tank, and that pet shop guy had loaded it with 11 African chichlid, 1.5 years ago. Currently there is only one left, he is aggressive too. I know it's too small for this fish, but I am a student and want to keep it alive till I buy my new big tank..this fish is alone and I don't know which fish to add with it can live happily. Please answer my query sir, there is no guy around me to discuss about this except u as an expert.

Ay, I'm peepin game from Kev all the way in KCMO. I'm about to setup my first african cichlid tank and was curious as to what causes the parasites. Is it a result from poorly taking care of the tank water, conditions, and parameters or just a random thing like tha dreaded Covid-19?

Wow. I just came across this video as I am trying to research about my fish (ranchu goldfish). Same thing, he hasn’t been eating and I can’t diagnose him well. Only symptom was he suddenly became inactive then doesn’t eat. One time he tried to eat he just spits it out. After that I moved him into a quarantine tub with salt and methylene blue and then I notice he started to have a fin rot. Treated him with API’s Fin and Body Cure for 2 weeks, the fin rot fortunately didn’t progress much since I noticed it. Also done a highly concentrated salt dips (1/2 cup per gallon) for 5 mins. But still after all these he’s still not eating. Now I’m treating him with praziquantel and hope it would eliminate the internal bacteria that’s preventing him from eating. I might also add a doze of metronidazole. If that still doesn’t work I will give this a shot. Thank you for this! Great video.

HI KEV! I have a juvenile Electric Blue Jack Dempsey, and when I bought him and his sibling, they both seemed fine and were swimming around with a ton of energy in my 30 gallon tank along with my 2 Geophagus Tapajos, my Turquoise Jewel Cichlid, and my cory cats. About a week later, his sibling (the smaller of the two) started acting weird and was hanging out near the top of the water and then two days later, he stopped eating... and then about 4 days after that, we found him on the floor of the tank in the substrate, dead.... Now, about a week after that happened, the one that is still alive is starting to do the same thing. He swims around very slowly, and is usually hanging out near the top of the tank and not eating. He is doing weird things with his mouth where he like pushes out his lips and was like gasping for air (is what it looked like). He swims around from the upper part of the water to the bottom every so often and just sits and stares at this rock and doesn't move for about 5 minutes. I've noticed that the Jewel cichlid has been nipping at him and the rest of my fish, but would that be enough to make him not eat and act the way he is acting? His very bright beautiful shades of blue on his scales are starting to have a very faint yellowish tint to it now... I dont know what to do! PLEASE HELP! I have metroplex, paraguard, polyguard, kanaplex, focus, garlicguard, and CopperSafe. He WONT eat though! I just tried feeding him the medicated food last night and he wouldn't! (Frozen Brine Shrimp but thawed out, Metroplex, Focus, and 2-3 drops of garlic)

For swim bladder try feeding some skinned green peas, this can aid in digestion if that’s the cause of the swim bladder disorder. Aquarium salt in this case would be more effective at treating the multiple causes of swim bladder. Also make sure your water is pristine! Water change every 2-3 days.

If fish not eating, it's usually indicative of stress(check water parameters), bloat, or malnutrition, it could also be just because of picky eating, so agree switch the diet up. A white casting or the white stringy poop you see may not be a cause of concern, it's usually either a digestive response if fish has gone a while without eating, or it could be simply natural. If you see white stringy poop more than once or often, that's the time to be concerned. If the fish hasn't ate for a long time and you are seeing this poop it's a digestive response, as the fish has been unable to eat, could be many factors of why the fish IS NOT EATING definitely one of those is a parasite though. Knowing what to look for and constantly observing appears to be key.

Glass surfing can sometimes be a sign of stress, not always though...he could also have internal parasites which can kill appetite...or It could just mean he needs time to adjust to his new home before he’s comfortable enough to eat. Is he in quarantine? If not I would take the cautious side and treat your entire tank for internal parasites as it is very contagious and best to attack it sooner rather than later.

If hes eating normally it may not be internal parasites. But cut the feeding down to ensure its not bloat. Yellow labs are herbivores so he needs to eat veggie based meals. Too much protien can cause bloat in Mbunas. He could just be adjusting to the new environment and new water parameters. Keep him in hospital tank for about a week or 2 until you notice hes back to normal. You could medicate the tank with General Cure just as a precaution. Wont hurt him but could help with a variety of diseases. I also have a free webinar training on African Cichlids that may help you learn more about your African Cichlids. I tried this today with my Blue Accra who had not eaten in 2 weeks despite treatment with prazipro and medicated food (could not get him to eat). I was able to get the medication into his belly but the volume was too much and the parasite came out of his vent half way. He died within minutes. He was likely going to die either way and it was a last ditch effort. I think it was just a little too much volume and the parasite was taking up most of his belly. The rest of my fish are eating the medicated food and hopefully will be fine though. Now I know the technique for future fish that won't eat. It definitely works I think 1 ml or less would have been better though. I used a 2 ml dropper. He was about 4 inches long.

Sorry to hear you lost your guy! This method is always intended as a last resort for this exact reason. Hopefully you won’t have to use it again as long as everyone else keeps eating the medicated food 😁

Is it possible to do this method in case of a betta fish? My pet betta is hardly 2.5 inches & so weak right now… not sure whether he would be able to bear it

If he looks like he's not going to make it anyway....its worth the try, IMO

Check your water conditions and make sure she isn’t being bullied by anyone. Make sure she has hiding spots too to rest if needed.

Is there epsom salt specifically for fish, or we can buy epsom salt as long as it states it's magnesium sulfate? Thanks
