@@linasalazar7496 Hi! Well the best way to describe it is that you’ll be skipping a meal. I chose the 8/16 method , you can google or KZread for more info. I eat within my 8 hour time span and I stop (fast) for 16 hours, which means through my 24 hour day I have skipped breakfast, started my first meal at 12:00 pm and stopped my last meal At 8pm. I chose this way because I want to be able to socialize during my fast and of course, going out during the weekends you usually eat late. I’m not a breakfast person so that’s another reason this timeframe worked for me but you can do ANY slot that works for you of course. The hardest part is getting past my snacking cravings, but that’s the most important part to stay disciplined because you don’t want to break your fast. Also, only Do this if you are overweight! And this is short term, but it gives you discipline with eating and a good start to eating better. 😊Good luck, hope this helps 🙏🏽

I started intermittent fasting May 16th 2021 for weight loss, I fast 23 hours a day. The first 2-3 days was hell but I love my new lifestyle. I weighed in at 315lbs 🥴😮‍💨😩, today August 3rd 2021 I’m at 265lbs. Eating whatever I want just not in big portions like I used to. I gave up soda and made water my bestie. I don’t exercise but I’m sure if I did I’d lose more. I hope to reach my goal weight of 160lbs-170lbs by the end of the year (I’m 5’9 btw) We’ll see what happens 🤞🏾🤞🏾

I was just about to post what you said! I started very lowcarb 5 yrs ago, cutting out all sugar/processed foods/most grains. I finally cut out all grains last year and the weight loss picked up again. But lowcarb satiates and I just realized I've been more or less doing IF automatically. I thought I dropped 200 lbs just from lowcarb but it was probably the IF too! No exercise btw, and I am a 62 yr old female. Post-menopause is supposed to be the hardest time for women to lose weight, but for me its been the only time in life when I did, and keep it off.

I was actually doing IF without knowing I was doing it years ago. I gain 100 lbs with my first pregnancy. I was also a single mom and decided to get back to school after my son turned 2. Well, I wanted to finish school as fast as possible and decided to go full time. So I had a full time job, going to school full time and was trying to spend as much time as possible with my son. Some days I only would get 4 hours of sleep (if that). Well, my schedule got reallying crazy to where I literally was forgetting to eat. So next thing I know after putting my son to bed I would eat like there was no tomorrow. However, I would feel guilty and said to myself "ok, no skipping meals tomorrow." But the next day I would just be very thirsty during the day and do it all over again (eating at night). However, I noticed I started to eat less and less as time went by to the point I could probably not eat at all for a whole day, but I thought to myself "this can't be healthy." So I would eat as much as I could without feeling too full or going overboard. I did this for months or maybe a whole year (unfortunately)? I feel like maybe I went on autopilot, but next thing I know I was back to being 120 lbs. It was so crazy though because one of my brothers pass during this time and I had to fly out of the country for the funeral. Well I packed up and left and I was so embarrassed, none of the nice clothes packed for the funeral, the wake and all that fit me. Everything was so big. That's when I decided to step on the scale and realize that I had lost all of my weight and was walking around wearing oversized clothes. Anyway, IF does work, even when you eat at night and are having a stressful life.

On fasting. Ion average fast anywhere is between 24 to 94 hours. Most commonly it’s between 24 and 48 hours. I’ve went down over 30 pounds in six weeks and it’s solid weight that I’ve lost. With certain moderate exercises to it’s easy to tone back up and not have that skinny out of shape luck. This is definitely A easy lifestyle change that can fit around any schedule and any events where you would want to be able to indulge.

IF helps to keep people metabolically flexible. That is the body can swap over from being a glucose burner to utilizing more fat for fuel. Once one's body has become fat adapted your hunger diminishes and blood sugar stabilized leading to less cravings for junk food. But I totally agree choosing the correct foods to eat should be a primary focus.

I am also peri-menopausal, Im 52 started gaining weight around 45yrs old. It's like my metabolism just packed up and left. Lol. I started doing the OMAD two weeks ago and I'm down 7lbs. After day 4, the cravings and growling stomach disappeared. I choke down black coffee around 9am and I mix black and green tea and drink that around 12:30 and I'm good to go until I eat around 5pm with a snack or dessert.

@@j.wmarie857 It is though that trace amounts of fat do not break a fast. I have modified bulletproof coffee recipes & use only a tsp of coconut oil, Mct oil or ghee/regular butter per coffee. 35-40 cals per coffee. Mix it with expresso in a blender. It makes it creamy & frothy! No sugar/ dairy takes the edge of the black coffee & keeps me full/satisfied till 2-4pm. Great for OMAD days. Also, mixing egg whites (high protein in) will make blended coffee very frothy! But the protein will definitely break the morning fast. Good luck.

So I have gained a lot more fat / weight under my skin following fasting and I don't know why . I originally did water only fasting for 3 days. Then a month later I did the 7 day water only fasting (this was very difficult, especially last 3 days.) After this I decided to follow the 16:8 routine. But I when I started eating i felt overweight and lethargic . So I decided to do a 3 day fasting again to get rid of any excess weight . Now that Iam back to eating normally, I try to stick to the 16:8 routine or omad. However, everytime I eat now, I find blood rushing to the surface of my skin throughout the whole body, and I start sweating even on a cold day ! This happens everytime I eat, unless I eat a very small tiny meal, then I don't sweat. Also I find immediately after I have a meal if I then rest or sleep then I don't sweat, I feel rejuvenated and stronger. But it's not a good idea to sleep immediately after the main meal, right ? The other problem I have found is that my muscle mass has decreased significantly , and all I see and feel now is soft flabby fat instead of muscles. I..e my muscles seem to have turned into fat ! My skin has become more fattier and flabby. When I look in the mirror my skin looks fattier and looser than before, doesn't look nice. I have also gained a lot of fat around my waste. Even though this had decreased a bit following the 7 day fast. I don't know why this has happened, when the whole point of fasting and controlling diet is to lose weight and become more healthier. But it seems to be worse than before. I feel more weaker, i.e less strength. Probably due to lack of good sleep. And the fat under my skin has increased. Does anyone have an explanation for this ? I have also started drinking ACV with lemon juice first thing in the morning, but after a week of this it seems to have destroyed my muscle mass and turned them into soft fat ? Also one other astonishing thing I have noticed is that I don't go to the toilet to poo that often. In fact not even once a week. ! The last time was 12 days ago. This is shocking since Iam still eating and normally I need to go poo at least once every 2/3 days. Sleep has not been that deep either. Uncomfortable sleep. Tiredness and fatigue has also increased. I don't know what's going on. Any thoughts / opinions / explanations will be appreciated. Maybe Iam eating the wrong things. But iam eating a lot of protein as well as drinking a lot of water. Hardly take any sugar.

The key to me is eating what the hell I want up until 5:00 PM and at 6:45 I have guacamole with corn chips or Italian bruschetta with gf toast. This is great. I have lost four pounds in five days. Please note I have had cancer and I am in remission, this is safe per doctors!!! You can do this!! And for any sweets I say to you in coffee use 1 stevia original or even better monk fruit by stevia brand!

If you have insulin resistance then intermittent fasting is necessary. Insulin spikes all day long will interfere with all body systems. If you're fasting, your body will focus on repairing other systems instead of constantly fighting insulin spikes and digestion.

That is not a controlled study then, so to address the health benefits of intermittent fasting the food must be selected for both groups and it must be the same. The food is one of the important variable, the idea is to see if fasting is beneficial. That way they can asses the benefits or non benefits of fasting.

I see that some people call some methods for beginners. What is that? If I can lose kilo's or pounds or whatever by intermittent fasting like the 16/8 method (that's the "beginners"?), what's wrong with that? Why should I go to do a 24 hours fasting or even more? I think it is already an achievement do do any type of fasting and change your way of living. Besides that I think that with the fasting, you also inherently snack less. Before the fasting you would eat anything at any time. Now you eat in a window of 8 hours and you are just full with food. There is no room for snacking. So even if you eat the same amount of food but skip the snacking it might lead to something. If not weight loss, a healthier lifestyle, right?

The great thing about intermittent fasting is that you have some flexibility in what you eat. I love IF and hate keto... I don't personally think keto is necessary or useful for the longer term. Unless you have say Type 2 diabetes. I'm a slim as I need to be on 16:8. Front-loading as this report covers is more important for me than keto.
