Intermediate Salsa Tutorial - Learn How To Salsa Dance With A Partner - Demetrio & Nicole
Ойын-сауық
We will be going over a intermediate salsa social dancing combination. We have a lot of videos inside of our main online course before reaching the social dancing combo section, so if this is your first time dancing Salsa, this might be a little difficult.
This video is so you can get a peak at our teaching style if you are interested in our online course. We will be uploading a few more videos soon that are a bit easier than this, and a few that are more difficult.
Instructors: Demetrio Rosario & Nicole Thompson

Wonderfully taught pattern, clear, easy to understand. I've missed soooo much dance over the pandemic. I'm having to find safe opportunities when and where I can. I had my first salsa class in close to two years tonight. Had such a blast I came home and found your video. Now I can't wait to practice this and bust it out the next chance I get. Thank you so much. A really well done video.

At 2:58 she says "you are going to feel a push", but is that really so? Dont we always look for that strech as in "body leading"? So it is not a "push", but the follower tries to keep the connection because the leader relaxed it (to create a backwards movement) and it is followers job to follow until connection is created again, no? With open (in front of each other) it is much like having the follower on close with the right arm, but streching away from her to create that strech to make her take a step back than to go forward (see video, first move)... I dont "push" my followers, ever, I always body lead and when followers understand that their job is to create strech again in the connection the dance is much more dynamic and smooth. They do this perfectly all the time: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hZNmp8ulmpDfqso.html

Hi there Mark, There should be a push back to create tension so that when you do the quick direction change thats next, the follower has the correct amount of tension in through her frame and also understands that its kind of a mental prep for a fast direction change. If you are super relaxed and are just creating "space" then you all the sudden change her direction it might feel super abrupt like you're dragging her through the move. Don't get me wrong, we say push but it is not so dramatic or rough, leading should always be smooth and controlled never rough. When we say push and pull your really controlling frame, tension, and direction, not doing it aimlessly. But if you're currently leading it with success without a push, then by all means you can continue to do it without a push. There are many ways to lead moves and as long as you get the result that you want, then you're all good! Hope that makes sense! :)

@@BachataDanceAcademy Thanks for the reply. I know preps only for turns and they are very important. But even there you wouldnt say "you push her arm to the right to prep to turn left", right? And with this move at 2:58 the follower is already walking in that direction, she will naturally take that step back (no need for push, or rather compression), only for pull to get her off the back step to go forward again. Ofc I assumed body tension and frame to be as they are suppose to be. But not from push pull, but from having her led into that direction - which a good follower will keep traveling until she feels a new input (the pull, increase in tension, connection) or it becomes obvious it is enough. Anyways, nice to see different points on leading. However, I do know some followers who do not like to be "pushed around", literally ;) Try body-leading, it is much more comfortable for the follow so she doesnt feel like a shopping cart :D

@@markfrinch7865 Hey Mark, thank you for your comment :D Thats the best part of dance, always seeing different points, on leading and following. This is just our style of teaching, but always respect other styles as well. :) hope you have an amazing week! 🕺
