    I made a huge mistake. A buddy brought his g.f. car over for light polish and protect. Red 2016 Rav 4. In the sunlight I said " see some of those swirls? I will polish some of those out". Buddy said "nope I don't see any swirls". I trained his eye how to spot the swirls. Bad, bad decision. He hung around to watch the process, and would say "what about that swirl, what about that scratch?" Oh man. I told him that we weren't after 100% perfection and some swirls were staying. A somewhat easy job took aggravating extra time. You should have seen him moving around the car getting light angles to find swirls. Fortunately he didn't see my paint inspection light on the counter! I learned a valuable lesson from that car. No more eye training! Great job on your car, and great video. Hi wife.

    I've called technicians choice and you do not need to do a paint prep if using their detail spray or their ceramic coating. In fact you can use their detail spray to remove the polish if it's being stubborn. They also now have a graphene detail spray, but I don't know much about it. I don't know if the polish is a universal base polish, but their customer service is very friendly and you could give them a call. I was even offered once to have one of the chemists give me a call back.

    You don't do polishing if the car is off the lot brand new, and even then you still gotta do clay bar

  • @MirandaDetailing

    @MirandaDetailing

    2 жыл бұрын

    🤔 Polishing depends on the condition of the paint not the “newness” of the vehicle. Polishing is not done arbitrarily, it’s done on an as needed basis. I fix small defects on brand new “off the lot” vehicles all the time, hazy sections from a dealer “detailer” trying to buff it, dust nibs from factory, swirls from them washing it and so on. Inspect the paint then make the decision to polish it.

    @ Dav Guy. Incorrect. Brand new car still has lot of impurities and imperfections on clear coat. I had my car from dealer directly into Worst Detailers shop, ever. They did clay, but didnt use iron nor buffing. So you guys can imagine… Flushed money. Lot of impurities, and had to break ceramic coat $800, to get into the clear coat, and remove all iron and buff all scratches left by claybar w/ iron residues sticked 😬 Yes. My brand new car had lot of impurities sticked to clear coat. Darker colors are probably difficult to spot impurities. You gotta remove any Tar as well.

    I've been using a *ton* of 580 coating. I got a crazy good deal on a case of it. Basically $10 a bottle. It is very DIY friendly. Applies fast and easy, effortless clean removal. It's also very hard to leave a high spot as it beads up as it flashes, and it's easy to see on any color. And even if you leave it on way too long, it still wipes off nice and easy as the beads stay wet for a very long time. I sell it as a 6-12 month coating, a step below something like CQUK, CSL, etc.. But for the price, it's phenomenal protection, very comparable to TAC Moonlight. Plus it smells like a Christmas tree! 🎄 Thanks for the video! 👍✌

    Yes. If paired with a heavier cutting foam or even microfiber pad it can definitely cut more. I prefer foam pad for enhancements or one steps because they cut and finish well. Microfiber pad usually leave micromarring that needs an additional step in polishing to remove.

    Ahhhh, gotta love those frigid August Mornings, during the week of a heat wave! I know it's an old shoot, but I'm still sticking by what I just wrote. LOL! Man, I really love this car. I been wanting one for a long time, and it was this or the Cayman S, then I got married. Goodbye dreams! *Proverbially shoots it out of the proverbial cannon without the proverbial catch net* Nah, I just wept a little bit, and then got a poster of the Cayman S I almost got. By the way, those carpet stain residues, it's like finding a rock chip on your brand new car with only a few miles after driving home. It's depressing. That's why I hate doing carpet cleaning and got rid of my carpets altogether and am sticking with all-weather mats from now on. I'm surprised you don't cry a little when see that stain remain after spending time on cleaning the rest of the carpet up. Did steam not help?

    😂. Too funny man! Yeah carpets and interior jobs can be depressing sometimes, oh well. Sometimes you win...sometimes you lose.

    @@MirandaDetailing Amen to that brother, amen to that. It's just like life, I just hum the song in my mind "suck it up buttercup." Then chuck the brush and interior cleaners into the street with a smile, instead of the floor mats. LOL 🤣😂🤣
