🤗thank you for your sweet comment. What people don't understand is you can make great money as an interior designer. So Go for it!!
I was a residential interior designer in a firm for over 3 years without a degree. I'm a computer networks major, yet all ID graduates came to me for advice on autocad, ecad pro and more. If you are passionate you can learn all basics on youtube, then get some training on 1-1 sales (this will be your main job). If you sell, your boss will love you 💯

Hi Sandra! Thank you for the helpful info!! Do you have advice on naming your interior design business? Do you find any benefits to having it as your name? Also, when did you know it was the right time to start your own business?
@SandraJessicaChavez
2 жыл бұрын
I would name it something easy to remember, short, and simple. Also, make it meaningful to you as well. I for the life of me couldn't settle on a name so I used my name lol. I also researched to see if there are any other design firms named "Sandra Jessica Interiors" and there were none. So you can use your name because your name is unique. Lastly, there were so many life changes I was experiencing at that time I was debating on starting my biz so I saw it as a calling to finally do it. There really is no "right" time. There were so many times before where I told myself "I just need a little more time" or "another 6 months" so ultimately I was making excuses for myself. I Hope that helped! =)
Hello, thank you for doing this video. Im currently doing igcse maths, geo, art, bio and english and i have to choose 3 as level subjects. Do you think i should take geo or bio?
Love your videos. Is it better to go to a design based school or a regular university or college that has interior design?

Hi I am final year student in interior design. Can you suggest best master course for interior design.
Hi sister, I wanted to know if an equivalence certificate will be needed to work in a country if I learnt abroad.
What app are u using for your designs on 1:08 ?
Hi Sandra, I love this video, definitely one of the most informative ones I’ve stumbled across. Would you recommend a design based college that is specific to interior design or do you think a regular college that offers that degree would be ok? Do you think employers look at that that specifically? Thanks!!
@SandraJessicaChavez
2 жыл бұрын
1,000% yes! I recommend a college specific to interior design! I feel like you get more one-on-one time with professors, classes are more informative, professors that teach either have in the field or are still practicing, just SO much more pros! I know some employers look at that but not all.

@@SandraJessicaChavez Awesome! Thanks so much for your input, I’m excited to get started!!
hii i just watched your video and i loved your explainations, they were so on point with what ive been thinking. I am currently starting my second year at college with a major i dont know if i like or not. The major i am currently in sounds like a good major, something that comes with good job opportunites and something that i know people around me will praise me for. I know if i work hard in it, i will do good. But i dont know if its my thing. I have always been a creative person and once i start doing something creative i completely lose myself in it, like i love to do embroidery and at times i just find myself so emersed in it. I like to think im a very optimistic person as well. I like being creative but i dont know if its a quality i should gamble my future with. I should go down a road that offers me fiancial stablility but I am just afraid. I feel like interior designing is like a tiny flame in me that just wants to burst out into the world, but since im such a creative person i dont know if this flame will burn out in me and make me regret my choices or will it grow in me to become my burning passion and make me a happier version of myself. I am stuck choosing what i want in my life. I dont want to go on 4 years of college with my major i would regret but i also dont want to move colleges to study a major that may only be a tiny flame inside of me that could burn out and burn me at any time. it sucks not knowing what you want, it sucks not having a dream. wooaaahhhh i wrote so much, wow i was in the zone there, im so sorry u had to read that i just felt like i could spill my feelings here since your video gave me comfort :) i guess i dont have a major question here or anything so i wouldnt want to burden u with responding. i hope youre happy with what you are doing and your choices. I hope i find my purpose before its too late. You just earned a subscriber! ill be watching more of your videos now to learn more about this field! thank you so muchhh :))

hiiii!! omg, no worries! I am actually glad you find comfort watching my videos, it makes me smile. So, I totally get where you are coming from. The other career probably seems like a "stable" or "safe" choice. Honestly, I see people who have a corporate job/lifestyle, make good money yet they are unfulfilled. I was in that position and it was not worth my happiness or mental state of mind. Everything in life is a risk so why not try?? If you find you didn't like well at least you know. I have been in this field for about 8 years have not regretted my career choice. Sure, there will be times when things don't go well or you might get a little burnt out, but I have not felt that flame or passion leave. When you truly love your career that burning passion stays lit. I am 100% happy with what I do, I love seeing people's faces light up and smile when I show them their designs. I hope this little pep talk help haha and hope you find the courage and strength to follow your passion!!💕

Hi Cheems! Reading your comment felt like someone wrote my story. I'm currently going through the EXACT SAME situation. It is not at all an easy decision to make so I'm stuck aswell. I was wondering if you switched your major then?? But I hope you're happy and satisfied with whatever decision you took
Just saw your video you did for a small apartment bedroom and living room. Great work! Are you able to help me lol

Thanks! Yes, I am able to help you! Send me a dm or email of what rooms you are looking for me to design. I will let you know the price!
I believe school is a necessity if you want to be a designer wether youre designing commercial or residential you need to understand the safety measures for houses and be able to provide solutions and functional spaces before the aesthetic aspect and lets not forget that designers study how certain elements affect on the psychological behavior, and to me I believe anyone who designs without understanding the principles of design cannot be called a designer but a decorator which falls into another category
@SandraJessicaChavez

You got it spot on! I will always encourage school for interior designers. yes, you can learn some on your own but it's not close to knowledge you will learn in school. There's just so much!

Y’all there’s hope if u went to school for let’s say science and u decide u don’t like it and want to go into interior design but don’t want to go back in school. My friend got a physical therapy degree and now he designs the insides of nursing homes and other hospital based environmental settings. It’s all about connections honestly. And skill. He at least knew what he was doing. U have to have a general understanding or else u physically cant do that job 😂

Ultimately depends on the firm you apply to! Some firms allow you to work from home but there are times you will need to go into the office. Unless, you work for yourself and offer designs only remotely. So, it is possible to be a designer and work from home most of the time!
