INTERIOR DESIGN COST PLANS: How interior designers estimate a budget for a project

You guys know that on this channel we like to talk about all the things that they don't teach you in design school and very often it involves topics about money. Today's video is exactly that- I'm taking you through the processes that designers go through when creating a cost plan for their projects.

great video, helped me a lot, how do you make margin percentage, is it the same on all items and how much is your margin percentage?

Everyone's margins are different. Could be anywhere from 5% and up to 50%. It's designers decision. In bigger companies there would be margin targets for the business in general so the quantity surveyor or designers would try to make those targets. I know it's not giving you much but it really depends on each project and client separately. Hope this helps! 👍

Ughh, tell me about it 🙈 There's so many things wrong about the higher education for designers.. that's one of the main reasons why I started this channel 👌💯 But to answer your question- yes, you'll pick it up as you go and will feel more comfortable with time. Like I said, juniors don't usually get to do this part. You might help on parts of it but it's usually senior's who would issue the costs to the client. Good luck with your career! 🙌🥂
