    Respect is the key as well as a perspective that faith is such a personal thing and that even people with the same core belief system can have strong differences of opinion. Knowing that naturally leads a rational person to recognize that there isn't any one right or wrong way to express our spiritual side but rather that we have an obligation to ourselves to find what resonates with us. With my wife and I on different spiritual pages and my experiences with various belief systems it has become very apparent to me that for the most part religions have differing ways of approaching the same subjects; different stories and observances but the core reasons and not how but what is taught have much in common. I tend to simply think of it as expressing the same things using different nouns and backdrops. There are however some things contained within some systems which can be destructive to the individual when not put in the proper perspective such as the demonization of being human and separation from personal love and power. To a lesser degree perhaps the separation between god and self but that can be worked around to a degree. In the end it really comes down to how ones faith affects them, if it is positive and serves them well, bringing what they need, or if it doesn't serve, lowers vibrations, or actually causes trama. There is of course a wise point of view that sees seasons that come with life lessons that faith can certainly play a part in. Much love, enjoyed this video.

    I couldn't tell you what perfect timing you posting this is! I have been needing to tell my boyfriend about my beliefs and practices but have been having such bad anxiety about it because I've been shamed for it before. I don't think he would be upset once I explain what it really means to be a witch and everything. He grew up Christian but he isn't an active Christian at the moment. This video is inspiring me and pushing me to just get up and tell him and know that whatever happens will be okay.

    Oh I love when that happens! I know it can be really scary to come out. Something my spiritual mentor suggested to me once was not using "explosive" terms to begin with - like witch, but to explain what that is first. So taking the long route to present, as you said, what the word witch really means for you, before using that term. It's such a powerful word, a strong archetype and one that I think most, if not all people have a ready made projection of, unfortunately many of them negative. Best of luck with it lovely! I hope you and your boyfriend have a deeper time of connection from you sharing this part of yourself. Wishing you both loads of love xxox

    I'm from the extreme minority group called Protestant Christians, and my girlfriend is Wiccan. Her faith is really good for her, and even though I don't think I could ever practice witchcraft, nor take another religion, I think it's really really cool. If we love you, we'll want to understand your faith and support you.

    great video! Thank you! I can completely relate! I too started my journey after we had been married several years. My husband does not walk my path, but we work much they way you described. strong respect for one another, even if we don't agree. My husband does not believe in magic, or at least so he says. However, he believes in me. And from time to time he will ask me for things, such as a safe travels jar or good luck mojo bag. So we work well together. ♡

    Christian and pagan relationships were around in the first few centuries of Christianity. I don't know how well they worked, but today I can see it being different maybe among protestants and pagans. The general agreement back in the old days between the church and the pagan spouse was that they weren't to interfere or keep their Christian spouse from attending church, which I think is a fair deal. I myself wouldn't want to date someone of a religion outside of Christianity, but I have a very "to each his own" philosophy about just about everything. It wouldn't be right for me to tell someone how to live and I simply have no interest in dictating someone else's life on anything. Good luck to you and your husband and I'm glad that there are civil conversations happening among people of different religions. I don't know if you've seen the comments on other Christian/pagan videos, but this is a much better comment section to view.

    LOVE the dog!! Such a sweetie. "Play with me, silly human. PLAY WITH ME!" Hehe. I also love what you have to say about you and your husband not stomping on each other's opinions, nor expecting agreement as validation. To use a New Agey term, it sounds like you "hold space" for each other's beliefs, and that's a beautiful thing. …This world could do with more of that kind of respect for others in general…

  • @Owlvine

    @Owlvine

    Haha he's SO like that! Yeah, I thinking holding space is a great term for it. And I agree. I think, if you look back at history, we do it far more now than ever before, but we have a ways to go! And there are definitely still a lot of closed minded, rigid people out there. I can still be like that, but I'm more open than ever and pull myself up on it :) xx

    Your dog is adorable.😊. My husband is what I refer to as an agnostic with atheistic tendencies. I had the same thing in the beginning where I wanted to share everything with him. He lets me do my thing and refrains from being dismissive, and I have found other people to discuss religion with. I do know some fellow pagans who don't understand why he never comes to ritual, but it works for us. Thank you for sharing. It's nice to hear from someone in a somewhat similar situation. Have a lovely day.💕💕💕

    This one hits home a bit, but we're a little different. Both my partner and I were born into christian households and both of us converted to paganism before we met. We dated while we were younger, then parted ways and now more than a decade later are back together in a serious committed relationship, only catch is that during the time we weren't in each other's lives he converted back to being christian and I'm still very strongly pagan. Its really the only thing about our relationship that conflicts, and sometimes it can be really rough. Its nice to know (judging by both the video and the comments section) that its not an uncommon situation and other people are making it work.

    I found this very helpful. I’m the only member of my family who is pagan and although I have a few relatives that are not Christians, they don’t live nearby and all of my core family is Christian. I was raised Christian and I understand where they’re coming from but nobody really understands where I’m coming from. I have wanted to find more community but I’m also not very public in my beliefs and trying to keep them a little bit still under wraps from my more judge mental family members

Belief structures are so personal and most of the time something that is so important to the individual, it can feel like a slight if others don't believe in the same way. But it's a growth opportunity! To believe as you do and accept another as they are too. I think as a whole we're becoming more open and accepting of differences, which is very cool :) Many blessings Jason!

    Jasmine Moon ahhh the herb collection!! that is partly how I came out to my husband, he is RC,,,,,I love herbs and candles and when I met him first, I would say I love alot of flavor in my foods and the candles relaxes me while I cook!! hahahahha In 2013 after 13 years of being together I couldnt hide it anymore and to my surprise, he is very supportive and loves the energies I create within our home. We met online in 1999 and met in 2000 I did give hints about "my other side" unfortunate for him he did not get it until 2013, I will say a side of myself I totally did not expect came out, even tho I knew that other side was there, I was not expecting it to be so very protective and he over stepped the boundary which I had no clue existed!!! We laugh about it now but did not back then but now he knows " my other side" and is very respectful but once in a while he thinks I am nuts! hahahaha

    I am currently in a relationship with someone who hasn't really found their path, though he is atheistic/agnostic amalgamation currently, and I think that me talking openly about my faith and practice has created an opening for him to really explore spirituality in a healthy way--because as we've been around each other, even when we were not in a romantic relationship, he's become more accepting of himself and his attraction to his heritage and several different paths. When he had more recently stepped away from Christianity, I found that he behaved differently. He didn't speak his mind as much, he didn't seem as comfortable in his own skin. And I think this can be the case for anyone who takes on a path that was not healthy for them personally--no matter what it was. I think that when we do something out of being coerced or socially pressured rather than following our own paths with grace and honesty, it can have a profoundly negative affect on us and our lives, and/or it can inhibit our ability to be our happiest, healthiest, best selves.

  • @Owlvine

    @Owlvine

    It's very cool that you've created the space for him to explore his own connection with the divine/All. I think it's a really important thing for us all to question and discover, and find our own connection. And I agree, I think being pressured into viewing the universe a way that doesn't align with us can be damaging after a point. That was my experience. I gained a lot from my previous experience, and then it was holding me back. I'm glad I was able to continue my exploration, while taking all my lessons with me :) xoxo

    Something I would say about a Christian marrying a pagan person is that spiritual growth is what matters most. I’ve studied many religions and even practiced but ended up choosing Christianity in the end while keeping this insane amount of respect for all of them. So with spiritual growth being important I wouldn’t ever see a problem with it and I’d even say it would be a situation that would be more likely to happen anyways. I really enjoyed your video many blessings 🎉

    I don't know if you still make videos but if you do, perhaps you could consider a tough point on this subject.... death. When in an interfaith marriage with pagan and christian (like me and you), have you considered at all what the death of either spouse will look like? The funeral? On one hand many Faiths have guidelines on how to handle death arrangements. But at the same time there's the old wisdom that funerals are for those left behind. How can we conconcile respecting our different faith partner's final wishes but also find the closure and healing we need after they leave through our faith?

    I Love this thank you.. First experience I had was a Few Years ago I Felt the same as you and I Just wanted to Shear I Felt so good. when I Finally came out to my mom who is a Christian filled with Fear at First it went bad she did not say Much at first and a week or 2 Latter I got something In the Mail from her Pastor with a Bunch of what seamed Like Booklets for Children, to Indoctrinate them. with all Honesty I was furious and Hurt but after I Observed the situation It only Welded My Faith even More so than Before that is One good thing that Came out of it. I have always Been a witch sense I was a Child getting lost in the woods only at the Time I did not Know what it was didn't start labeling myself a witch until early 20s any how even though I Feel I was Born a witch this encounter with my mothers indoctrinating pastor Intensified my Connection with my Primal roots and Magic so I thank them for that. :) I do Not Talk to her Pastor but Now I understand why my Mom is so filled with Fear and Of course we still Talk she Seams to be ok with my Faith now but Honestly dose not seam to want to Talk about it Much so when ever we Talk I do not Bring it up unless she dose..

    It can be really hard for people to accept such a different spiritual view point from their own. And I think in cases like with your mum they genuinely are fearful for us and it's coming from a place of good intention. It's wonderful that you told her and that you guys are moving through it :) She may never understand or be on board, but that she loves and accepts you is huge. Many blessings xx

    Cool. Thanks. But can you turn your old man into a newt? A shout out bark to your dog from our three here. I was raised a Secular Humanist, and at 16 became an interfaith seeker who kept a light hold on Unitarian Universalism and later 12 step Recovery Movement. I then got into Christianity in a way that recognized Jesus´ teaching personal effort, spiritual growth training, and God´s love, and so no actual conflict with an interfaith life. I eventually married the "other side of the tracks" and a Fundamentalist Christian maverick, but have found my Taoist, Buddhist, Shamanic, 12 step Christianity just rock solid, or water fluid. Sure, there´s gaseous, too, but let´s keep thinking happy smells. So, anyway, God is a freaky fritter, and I´m just living one day at a time as an interfaith Sustainability warrior here as an expatriate in Brazil. Your hair colors are cool. My wife´s a babe, and nature rules. Stay Magic! (Thank you Jesus...)

    Once again very, very good. I love your honesty. So what do you honestly think of your husband's beliefs? I'm not asking about your acceptance of them, but your thoughts about his beliefs. My understanding is pagans are poly theist or at least female goddess believers. Not exactly Christian, Jewish, or Muslim beliefs.

    My wife is a pegan and I'm a catholic in america .... The church refuses to back us but legaly we are married..... Just my family would shun me if they knew but her family accepted me as one of their own on the 24th of feb ... We both see the interconected ties of values even though the religions were different. Just the church i belong to refuses to bless the wedding due to hers being seen as "witchcraft" by the faiths leaders ... Though we both believe that love we share is holy and blessed on its own because in her faith love is the strongest form of magic cuz it cajt be controlled by humans and in mine god is love as taught in roman catholic schools ... So we both feel its the human nature of fearing the unknown is the real reason we are not yet allowed to go through marriage as a sacrament in my faith .... But if god is how we catholics see him the judgement would be our love is just as holy as a catholic to catholic love ... So my perspnal view is fuck everyone else our love is our love no one can stop us

    My Catholic husband is totally fine with my new path but I feel silly knowing he's outside the door and can hear me. Really inhibits me in ritual. I'm just totally silent. If you had any tips on getting over that inhibition I'd love to hear it. and no I can't do ritual when he's out of the house. We have three kids. Getting five minutes to myself is a great treat.

  • @Owlvine

    @Owlvine

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yes I can understand that. I would say the way to move through that inhibition is to just do it. Perhaps start small, talking out loud for breif periods of time. The more you do it, the more comfortable you will feel. You could talk to your husband about what it means for you to be able to do it too, open up that dialog. It will affirm that you have nothing to feel shame or embarrassment about. I hope this helps. Best of luck in your continued journey :) And I know about those times alone! Once kids come along, you realised how much you took for granted, the quiet silences! Many blessings xxo

He isn't sure what to make of it, and having come out of Christianity, I'm a bit wary too. But we really get on well otherwise. It's so hard as single pagan men are so hard to find in my country. We, pagans and witches are a rare breed, but we are growing.

    As to that, it's a very personal decision. I think it can certainly add a challenge when partners are of different faiths, particularly if they're devout. But all relationships have their challenges, we all need to make commissions for each other and compromise to find our harmony. I don't think there's a simple yes or no answer for this one. I know many people in relationships with differing faiths, and some of them are very happy :) I wish you and your man all the love in the world xox

    To answer the title, easily when neither takes their own religion seriously. More of a hobby just for fun type mindset than actual belief. For me i haven't and won't be with a christian, in their minds they think i'm going to hell, and truly believe it as if they are the one in the right and i am the one in the wrong. My religion is one of the biggest parts of me and if i can share it with everyone but my partner due to offending them, what is the point? True test of this will come about when kids come into the picture, either you all will fight about what your children will learn or cave and let them learn about both of the parents beliefs and let them decide for themselves, which is the right call sure, but also points that you don't take your own religion seriously. And in your husbands belief system he is in fact sinning just by being with you as it states in the bible of being married to someone outside your tribe so my point is made that it can be easy when neither takes their beliefs to heart.

    Not all Christians are the closed-minded, mean, judgmental ones that seem to be brainwashed by their church. There are really caring ones out there. But they would catch all kinds of hell for being ok with anything outside their faith. And it's sad, really, to have to be that harsh and shut-down in order to be considered "faithful' or "committed" to your God. Thanks to the higher powers that my fiancé is lucky for me not a Christian. He was kind of agnostic but he's been getting more interested in following my path. that does make it a lot easier.
