Inter was vastly superior, created like 3-4 extremely dangerous plays, and stop Atletico's attacks, already they had 0 shots at goal. Inter could easily have won 3-0 for instance. In Madrid Atletico will eventually need to attack and that would increase the likelihood of Inter kill them. With the entrance of Dumfries and Carlos Augusto in the last 30 minutes Inter demolished Atlético even more (probably they will start at Madrid). Inter has been great as visitor this season, but nobody mentioned it, also has the best attack in Serie A and the best defense en Europe. Two of three results serve Inter to move forward. Finally, nobody either mentioned the incredible record of Simone Inzaghi 's in this sort of matches, not only with Inter but also with (a more limited) Lazio. For god's sake you need to improve your analysis and reduce your bias.

As an Inter fan I’m so happy with Inzaghi. He made stupid mistakes in his first season, made mistakes last season (11 losses is terrible for a club like Inter) but now he’s perfect every game, tactical topclass also against top coaches. With Thuram on the pitch for the whole game it would have been minimal 2-0, Arnautovic was terrible

Hi Max, for me Inzaghi was fantastic in his first year (do you remember that Conte ran out because Lukaku and Hakimi left?. Also, Eriksen's case?) . In those difficult circumstances- and in his first year at Inter- the team played marvelously and he won 2 titles, and was so close of winning the third, the scudetto. To me he lost because the group of players at his disposal was short of enough talented players, was limited and also because had an incredible series of difficult matches one after the another for almost 2 months, that washed-up the team afterwards. That extremely heavy loss was so difficult to manage to all of us that influenced heavily Inzaghi's team in his second season (and also a very difficult one with the World Cup in the middle). But after Lukaku was healthy, and the team was more complete, Inter was terrific and we arrived to the Champions final (and won another 2 titles). We were very close of winning against a legendary team that won the treble. Now, with a more complete set of players at his disposal you're seeing the results. Inter plays great, the best defense and the best attack and he already won another title. I think he is the very best manager after Guardiola and Klopp right now (and frankly with most modest resources). I didn't change him for anybody else (and I think Guardiola is the GOAT). @@max08160

LA Liga has 2 good teams, and Barcelona is not even that good any more. Serie A had 2 teams in the final 4 of the Champ I one league last year, 3 in the final 8, more than any other league. I think this doesnt make sense. Inter had a slip and a deflection that led to city rodri having a great finish. City werent creating chances at all. Lau should have scored or passed to lukaku on his one v one. Lukaku header just wow. Barella should have scored. City always have high posession becuase they dont play anything risky. Obviously in hindsight this doesn't look that good :). But one point they were getting at was that Atleti is incredibly fantastic at home and completely abysmal away from home, so Atleti coming back at the Metropolitano was always a good possiblity

I am always shocked by the lack of common sense from these ESPN pundits. I remember Don Hutchinson saying that he couldn't believe Inter were behind the likes of Arsenal and Bayern in terms of CL favorite. Well, the reason is because Inter got the most difficult tie for a first seed. Given that the tie between Atletico and Inter is a toss up, it means that the latter's odd of being eliminated, hence not winning the trophy, was higher than all the other big clubs, even struggling ones like Barcelona and Bayern. Although, in the case of Barca, they're so bad, I'd still put Inter above them.

Athletico looked very slow on the transition. A better team would had caused Inter more problems. I would expect Inter to go through: they are clearly very confident in the manager and the way they play which will make them difficult to beat by anyone plus last years experience will help them. I’d like to see a Man City rematch over 2 legs.
