As a software dev myself, I'll tell you that even when being honest to yourself and to your surroundings, 90% done means there's waaay more than 10% left. It's all those things you didn't think of, that start showing up between 91% and 100% of what you did think of in advance.

Now consider how a clueless, non-technical person like Tommy would inflate that number when 1) They have ZERO concept of how anything related to hardware and software is done. 2) They are desperate to get as much money as quick as possible in order to keep their failing meal ticket going.

WalMart won't ship those unsold units back to Tommy's door, what they'll do is call him and say you have 24 hours to come get your crap or we're gonna charge you per diem storage, then they'll charge him rent for wasting their shelf space for a month, then charge him for the lost sales they expected to make from his product. Then when he threatens to sue Walmart someone will read his contract to him and he'll declare bankruptcy.

Like everything else, Tommy probably has his own definition of "pre-orders" and "purchase orders". There is no way that IF (by some miracle) Tommy could produce hundreds of thousands of machines that Walmart, Amazon, etc. will write him a check for millions of dollars before selling any of them. Usually the supplier gives the retailer X number of units and only once they sell does the supplier get any money (next business quarter). Anything the retailer doesn't sell, they don't pay for and they return to the supplier. But that's for established products- which the Amico isn't. In this situation, I bet the deal is more like "Walmart has the OPTION to buy 20,000 units at $150 that they can retail for $250". If Walmart never exercises that option, the Amico doesn't get any shelf space. Then Tommy is stuck with an office/garage full of unsold Amicos that he can spend all day signing to try to convert to "Special Editions" to flip on eBay. Heck, he'll probably try to have them Wata graded so he can sell them "Now with NFTs! Ooooh!" at Heritage Auctions.

The retail portion based on how the purchase orders are set up can completely kill this company. It really depends on if the retailers outright buy the products or if it is structured in which they retain the Amicos for a certain amount of time and then any unsold stock can be returned. The Ps One mini was dropped in price either because the product was outright purchased by retailers OR Sony decided to cut their losses and sent out the approval for a price reduction just to salvage what they could. Places like Wal Mart and Best Buy usually return unsold electronics to the parent company and are then refunded their money and then the parent company off loads the product to a liquidation place at a reduced cost. The Amico has such crappy margins that it wouldn't be able to survive either way.

So the thing about operating systems is that if you're not building your own kernel, you're likely buying a lot of it as a package. In this case, probably an Android operating system. Which means it was probably capable of running android games before they even got their hands on it, and the only work they need to do is creating a custom front-end for users to interact with. I have a feeling that's what the "10%" they have left to do is--all of the work that is their responsibility.

You know what'd be the biggest proof? If Tommy went onto his hugbox forum, and proudly displayed the FCC ID for it. Because that requires near finalized hardware to get FCC approval. If that doesn't exist, it doesn't exist. Even if the percents were remotely truthful; as said those can be a long 10%. Think of it this way. You're having to program an interface for a custom controller _and a custom driver._ Now I don't know about you, but taking a wild guess here: _Creating a driver for anything is a nightmarish prospect at best, which is why people are eager to use off the shelf parts whenever humanely possible._ Addendum: Especially when you're dealing with unsupported software that went EOL the year it came out.

He emphasized "real". Wow. Tommy is really doubling down on the snowflake, crybully talking points of his far-right buddies. He even invoked the "silent majority" like the entitled little jerk he is. We've already seen the fiasco of the much-ballyhooed AARP magazine article (where the author rejected Tommy's entire premise for the Amico) so that leaves his faith-based suckers...er... I mean target customers and "real" social media. So expect to see the Amico coming soon to Hobby Lobby, Mormon book stores, and advertised on FrankTalk and Parler alongside the Patriot Phone and the ClearPlay DVD player(that edits out all the swearing and godless acts of movies).

@@MrTBoneSF History is replete with examples of people using the term "christian" or implying religious values in order to gain acceptance or support of such groups or demographics, or to suggest high morals and good character, when they in fact have nothing to do with those things or more often are the antithesis of those values. It sounds to me like Tommy T, since the wake of E3, Ars Technica, and this most recent crowdfunding attempt, sees that pre-orders are dropping off and even formerly-adamant supporters on KZread, Facebook, Atari Age, etc. are starting to express doubts and concerns about this. So he's pivoting and trying to reel in a specific demographic with Judeo-Christian values by marketing heavily toward them and hopefully pulling in a large number of that demographic with marketing addressed specifically towards them. Perhaps he already sees the writing on the all that big box retailers like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc., are going to balk, so it has even less to do with demographics and more just trying to make commercial deals with smaller (or more focused) retail outlets like Hobby Lobby, Bed Bath & Beyond, Big Lots, etc. You can see clearly, though, with his flip-flop on mature content from Y2K era to his recent statements on the Amico (family-friendly, etc.), that he's a faker and flip-flopping just to try to replace support and prospective sales he already knows he's bleeding. It might be just a purely commercial move, making sure he has *some* store, if not Walmart then maybe Hobby L or Big L, to place his items at. There's nothing remotely genuine (or "christian" if you want to go that route) about this or Tommy T, it's just marketing hoopla to reel in or target different demographics.

If they *still* haven't sold out their initial stock (I extremely doubt they've made more after the first run), even at that price, I wonder how many units they actually made, and how much they actually expected to sell? If it had Crash and Spyro trilogy, along with some other titles like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, I might have already dipped in at original MSRP ($100), 50 FPS or not.

I had pre-orders for 2 consoles. (one for myself and my brother). After the 3rd set back (a few weeks back), I cancelled my GameStop pre-orders. It's sad - as I had delusional expectation that this console would be ready and provide homage to the original Intellivision. I blame myself for being taken in by this charade. It's still a head scratcher as what the goal and customer scope this console was built to satisfy.

Even if this thing had released on time, how successful did anybody really think it was going to be anyway? Did Talarico really think it was going to sell millions and millions of millions of units? Atari finally shipped the VCS and literally NOBODY is buzzing about it! The Amico will be no different! At this point if people invest further into this thing, they’re really just asking to be scammed at this point. The thing is really is as dead as the Coleco Chameleon except it just won’t go away…

Oh please, a wealthy man is getting questions, its too stressful for him. People want to go to bat for this guy? Dude has a Ferrari and hundreds of valuable collectibles, yet he needs more money. He also doesn't want legit gaming sites like IGN or "hardcore" gamers to review the console, yet most of his pre-orders came from boomer gamers who are hardcore retrogamers. Dude is lost.
