Integrating Therapy with 12-Step Programs by Dr. Bob Weathers

As a person with (religious and moral scrupulosity) OCD and food addiction, I found the 12 step program at odds with my recovery from OCD. In my 12 step program i was asked to regularly admit/confess my moral inventory to another person --- *precisely* the compulsion i sought to remove in ERP treatment for OCD.

Notable that CalSouthern/Weathers have not responded to any comments on these videos. I am not sure what is worse in 12 Step culture, a lack of psychological awareness in the substance based programs or the ones that attempt to address psychological matters in this self and peer help context. Both aspects attract dysfunction in different ways, and perhaps on a more superficial level one can find support but the question becomes support for what exactly? Should we trade sobriety for some dysfunctional culture that doesn't actually own their stuff and when wrong promptly admit it? What if a program as a whole is effectively in denial about some of these dynamics?

The 12th step programs are a joke. You don't want to use anything from that.

Я алкоголик и хотел бы проходить шаги на языке оригинала. Я русский бы выучил только за то... Кто-нибудь из билингвов-анононимных не мог бы провести меня по шагам? Ищу англоязычного наставника, согласен и на native.
