Integrate Self-Hosted Windmill and Baserow Database Low-code Services with Python! 🐍 🔥

Ғылым және технология

Learn how to build a ‪@WindmillDev‬ application, powered by Python, that uses ‪@baserow‬ database storage on the back end!
Baserow is a cloud or self-hosted, open source database solution. Baserow includes an administrative web user interface, along with a REST API to manage data. The REST API can be used to create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) data stored inside your Baserow instance.
Windmill is a self-hosted low-code solution that enables you to rapidly build web applications and back-end scripts. Although Windmill supports a variety of back-end programming languages, we will use the popular Python language in this example.
In Python, we will use the simple HTTPX module for interacting with the Baserow REST API. Using a simple .post() method, we can create new data rows in our self-hosted Baserow server, by passing data from our Windmill user interface!

Instant subscription. You covered a ton of ground in under 30 minutes and your explanations were really concise and easy to follow. I really appreciate that you demonstrated things that weren't on the happy path. Also really excited to give baserow a try; thanks a ton for that!!

Great teacher, learned a lot and subscribed. Though I'm having trouble self hosting Baserow, it looks like it has great potential.

Thank you very much for your kind comment! What trouble are you having with self-hosting Baserow? I found that the easiest way to run it is as a Docker container. 🐳

Thanks for the great overview of baserow and windmill tools. I would use headless cms rather than baserow and pure python/nodejs rather than windmill. This is like scratch or app inventor vs native programming. A non-technical person will not be able to reproduce all these steps.

Thanks for your kind comment. I think this helps people similar to me, who primarily write back-end code, to build a simple web front-end for their application. In general though, I agree that writing everything yourself gives you more control over the outcome.
