    This is brilliant! Especially the bit about keeping the purl needle a size smaller to keep gauge. You are a genius! Thank you!

    Thank you! I've been so intimidated by Intarsia because my first attempts weren't... great. This is really helping me get through a top-down base-ball-jersy top I'm making for my neice!

    This is so great! I'm knitting a sweater for my husband that has a section of intarsia motifs and I'm relieved that these 40 odd rows doesn't make it so i have to knit the whole thing flat! I feel my ordinary stranded color work come put so much nicer in the round 😁 really well explained!

    Thank you so much for this, I am designing a hat in the round and this video has been so helpful! Did you slip purl wise or knit wise? It was a bit fast for me to see!

    Thank you so much for this video! I’m knitting the Weasley Sweater and I wanted to do it in the round, but was struggling to figure out how to knit the letter using Intarsia method (vs. duplicate stitch). This solves that issue! :) BTW, I have no trouble hearing you. Audio is just fine for me.

    Lynette Bohanan , I’m also knitting a Weasely themed vest ( The Christmas Morning Vest, actually) and had the same thought! I’d rather do intarsia for the letter. More fun! This was very helpful.

    hi there thanks for sharing video. been knitting for years and intarsia also, but never in the round, never done any circular knitting yet as its always intimidated me but its something im about to spread my wings into. just a bit confused here though as i thought for in the round you just continously knit, Is intarsia knit in the round done different thenn as you purled also, sorry if it sounds a little silly but i am just slightly confused . so with intarsia knitting you knit one side then purl then next? thank you in advance for any help tips or techniques you can offer me, and your voice is lovely btw xx

    Hi Soo, I'm not sure I understand your question, but what I think you are asking is that in the video, you work both the right side and the wrong side of the fabric as if it were still a flat piece, but the yarn over join creates the illusion of "in the round" but also allows you to insert an intarsia design in the middle of something like a sock or a mitten without a seam to sew later. Email me directly if you have a further question.

    Why do you knit in the back loop of stitch?

  • @farwellclay

    @farwellclay

    I knit in the combination style, Dori, so my knit stitch sits in a way the requires me to knit the back leg so it won't twist.

    I know there is no one correct way to knit. I'm very interested in the continental style you used in the video. My grandmother taught me this way and it works well for stocking knit, but how do you do a rib stitch without your stitches getting twisted?

  • @farwellclay

    Because my default purl method make a stitch that sits with the back leg forward on the needle, I knit the stitch from right to left, and it doesn't come off the needle twisted. I'm used to it being this way so I don't even think of it. I do use a Norwegian style purl for lace knitting generally, but I prefer the Combination purl for everyday work.
