I consumed 250 to 350 g carb per day with low fat, low sat fat, moderate protein. Lots of whole foods but some Cheerios, bread, crunchy snacks. Felt horrible and was gaining weight. Went low carb, higher healthy fat, clean protein, lost aches, lost weight, got off blood pressure meds. It’s clear to me that there are different paths for different people. What is working for you doesn’t make sense but I’m glad you are thriving.

First I want to say I am in my second year of living with type 2 diabetes after ending up in ICU in a coma for a week with my blood sugar at 1500 when admitted. I took 10 units Levemir insulin (twice a day), 1000mg Metfomin (twice a day), 5mg Glipizide (twice a day) and ate absolutely no sugars, no grains and no starches during this last year and was totally unable to get my blood sugar in control. On a daily basis my blood glucose would swing anywhere from 130 to 500. My Dr. called me a brittle diabetic - never quite understood his meaning. I found this on KZread and decided to give it a try. I started on just trying it one day a week - what my wife calls it, "meatless Monday's" but also dis-allowing other foods high in saturated fats like cheeses, fried foods as well as my normal above diet. Within my 1st month my swings started getting much less extreme. On the second month we included Tuesday's and so on. I am now at the end of my 3rd month and Monday thru Wednesday eating nothing but whole foods on those days with absolutely no meats, saturated fats, etc. Conclusion my 30 day blood glucose average is now 140 - lowest ever average for me. I snack on fruit like it is going out of style - I even ate a small bowl of watermelon last night after dinner and my next morning glucose reading was 128. I want to thank you guys so much for sharing this video - it has really brought hope to me and yes I am going to continue adding another day of eating plant based meals and snacks each and every month - thanks again

And you are eating fruit and grains ? How are you doing now ? I am eating the same way you were instructed to. Two boiled eggs for breakfast. No bread, for fruit just berries, meat that is known for fat... Ribeye Steak, Smoked Ribs ( with a dry hot pepper rub, nothing sweet ), grilled salmon, grilled tuna.

Hi Cyrus. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes as at 5 May 22 and as of that date I made a commitment to try, as best as I could, to get back to normal. I searched the internet and you tube and was somewhat disappointed with what I found. That is, until I came across this site. And because of my background I loved the evidenced based approach. Let me provide you with my lab numbers just to demonstrate my journey with some hard evidence. As at 5 May 22, my pathology readings were as follows: Fast Glucose 12.0 (mmol/L) ; Trig/HDL 0.74; Chol/ HDL 4.4; and HbA1c 11.1. I followed your approach rigorously including at least 1 hour walking per day. Twelve months later, as at 18 April 23, there was an amazing transformation as shown: Fast Glucose 5.2 (mmol/L), Trig/HGL 0.5; Chol / HDL 3.3, and HbA1c 5.5. My doctor was amazed and in his words "Just Astonishing". Let my add some added drama to the exercise. As at 5 May 22, that dreaded complication arose, my doctor said that I was at Stage 2 CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and he told me there was no cure and it would be downhill as of that date with only three outcomes: , manage the decline (which was inevitable), dialysis and death. At 70 years of age I was not fearful of death but I was not happy in relation to the quality of life. Here are the relevant pathology numbers related to my CKD, as at 5 May 22: eGFR 75, R-U-Creatinine 7.6 (mmol/L) , R-U-Albumin 35, (mg/L) and Alb / Creat Ratio 4.6 (mg/mmol) . It was all gloom and doom. Twelve months later, again an amazing transformation: eGFR 93, R-U-Creatinine 5.8: R-U-Albumin 10: Alb / Creat ratio 1.7 (mg/mmol). My doctor was amazed at the significant change and my kidneys were functioning in the normal range. As shown above there was nothing anecdotal in my testimony and it was all evidenced based. I hate to use capital letters but the turn around was truly ASTOUNDING. I decided to give myself a treat and had a nice coffee with a blueberry muffin! Oh the sweet pleasure of life, so many treasures abound, some lost and new ones found, and all accepted with small thankful gratitudes. Cyrus thank you very much for some really useful and evidenced based material. I hope others also benefit from your material.

As a Type 1 diabetic I can testify that he is absolutely correct. Fat causes insulin resistance. Any diabetic should eat a low fat, high carb, whole food, plant based diet. I did a low carb higher fat diet for years and I did have stable blood sugar. But anytime I ate any form of carbohydrate my blood sugar was uncontrollable. NOW I eat tons of fruit, potatoes, whole grains, beans and veggies. My blood sugar is stable, predictable and in a normal range. I have incredible energy and feel amazing. If you have diabetes do yourself a favor and eat a whole food, plant based, low fat diet. Your body will thank you.

600 g carb per day? My blood pressure would be in the stroke category. I got off my hypertension med of 10 years by dropping carbs below 50g per day. To each his own but I cannot do more than 100g without joint pain. I used to eat 240 to 300 g carb per day and was gaining weight and feeling awful. Also at the same time, low fat, low sat fat, moderate protein, no cheese.

I spent 8 years trying to reverse my diabetes on low carb high fat. In the end, my insulin resistance became so bad no amount of insulin would get my blood sugar down to anywhere near normal. It was very frightening. I realised increasing the insulin was not the answer. Low carb had only ever ‘managed’ the diabetes by keeping the sugar intake to a minimum. I knew I needed to do something radical. Within 6 weeks on high carb low fat I had to drop my insulin requirement to less than half (50+ units to 20-25 units per day). In just 2 months I have lost a stone in weight. My energy levels, which have always been very low, are slowly starting to improve. I am excited to see what happens over time......

I did a ketogenic diet for 2 years (No cheating whatsoever, no more than 25 grams of carbs a day) because I had a horrible case of reactive hypoglycemia / post-prandial syndrome (From insulin resistance). It worked in the beginning but by the end of the 2 year mark it made my insulin resistance and hypoglycemia out of control...I would literally take one bite of meat and be full blown hypo within a 30 seconds. As a last resort I tried a high-carb low-fat plant based diet like Cyrus is showing here (I had to stick to just fruits and veggies at first though because starches would make me hypo) and I was having no more hypos after 4 days, that was 10 months ago and my reactive hypoglycemia is completely gone. I'm also becoming more insulin sensitive from this diet because now I can eat potatoes and I'm totally fine, no adrenaline release at all. If you're trying to decide weather to go keto or high-carb low-fat plant based because you have diabetes or pre-diabetes, or just for health in general, take it from someone who's been on both sides of the fence...The high-carb low-fat plant based diet is what works! The dirty little secret that the low-carb keto "experts" won't tell you is that low-carb diets actually increase insulin resistance over time because your adrenaline is higher than your insulin, and you body becomes physiologically insulin resistant as a defense mechanism. I had to learn the hard way, but thanks to Dr. Morse and Cyrus and Robbie I have my life back.

This is good to know. Thanks. I have also been following the Keto diet. High Fat and Protein, low carbs. I have lost weight but fat blocking the receptors makes sense. So just like taking Metformin & Glyburide for 20 years or so, the Keto diet would also make the condition worse in the end. I'm still going to do the intermittent fasting. It's one way to reduce the fat blocking the insulin receptors.

That was an excellent visual model of how insulin works in the cells! I have known for awhile that there was a problem with the insulin getting glucose into the cells, but I never learned (or was taught by any doctor/nurse/medical professional) that the REASON the insulin receptors won't allow the insulin to let the glucose in (insulin resistance) is because of too much FAT in the cells! Thank you SO MUCH! On 9/14/2020 you taught me one of the most valuable lessons about insulin ever!! From a scientific standpoint, it just makes SENSE not to eat too much fat (instead of people saying "don't eat this, don't eat that"). Amazing! Thank you so much!!!

After following an ADA diet for years with no appreciable change and after seeing "Forks Over knives", I tried out the diet you guys also recommend, and that was the fix! I had been getting calls and emails from ADA for years asking for donations to help cure diabetes, so I had to post my success with this way of eating to the ADA forum! I expected some serious skepticism, but instead what I got was attacked and called all kinds of ugly names by far too many replies! It was so far overboard it made me wonder if there was a force in place with a protected agenda...after all, who would "donate" to the cure if there actually already was a cure! After seeing the interview with the ADA official in "What the Health", it pretty much clinched my suspicions. It really opened my eyes to all these supposed "health" agencies who are sponsored by the processed, fast food, meat and dairy industries! Revolting that it goes on unabated and most people are not ever aware of it! Thanks for all you do, you are true heroes!

I can attest to this. I have Type 1 Diabetes. When I removed meat and animal fats from my diet, my sensitivity increased to the point where when I took my normal amount of insulin to cover my carbs, my blood sugar dropped hard and fast. I loved not taking as much insulin but it was hard to maintain because I don't have a doctor that understands. Without support, I fell short and went back to my old way of eating for my DM1. I will try again to get back to plant-based eating, but I will need to find a new doctor. This is very informative and should be looked at further to better help those with Diabetes.

Oh My God! We have been doing a low fat, low protein and low dairy diet and it has taken my husband about nine months and I was skeptical the entire time but I have prayed for a miracle and we got our answer. This is the type of information doctors don't want you to know and especially the pharmaceutical companies and because they will be out of business. His sugar level has gone from the five hundreds to 92, 117,101. We exercise and that has helped as well. The low carb diets don't work. We eat carbs all the time otherwise we would have no energy. God bless you for making this video!

I got rid of my type 2 diabeties by eating only meat, eggs and just drinking water. My 14 day blood sugars is now 86.4, A1c 4.6%, 14 day average blood pressure down from 167/86 to 108/70. This morning it was 94/61. I tried going carb low fat and it nearly metabolically destroyed me. Now I need no medications or suppliments and all health markers are amazing. Good markers can be acheived especially when young with a veggie diet but it will not sustain the body as we get older. Not enough quantity or quality of protien, and replaceing fat with toxic sugars for energy requiremenrs will bring on a long term health failure. Also plants are packed with hundreds of carcinagens oxolets and other toxins. Wish you well and good luck but would recomend at least seeing what the many carnivour and low carb keto doctors and health professionals have to say on the webb.

These two young men need to take insulin to survive for the rest of their lives. One of them has his PhD in Molecular Biochemistry. This isn't a fad or scam for them. It's a life or death scenario. I would at least listen to what they have found what works for them before dismissing it out of hand as some comments below have. It might save your life or the life of a loved one. Just eat REAL FOOD, people. Food that our great-grandparents would recognize as food. Food as grown, in its natural form. Fruits, vegetables, legumes (beans), whole grains, nuts and seeds. Oatmeal, brown rice, barley, quinoa, beans - white, black, pinto, kidney, garbanzo, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, peas, almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, etc, etc. Nothing in a box with questionable or unrecognizable ingredients or any kind of fast food. Just cook simply; boil, steam, bake, or eat a lot raw. A green salad a day. A serving of beans. Some fruit. Eat enough to be satisfied. Find some good condiments to put on your food to make it tasty. Avoid artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose. Find some sort of exercise that you like, even walking and do it regularly. The answer is so simple it's criminal. We humans no longer know how to eat for our species. Our taste buds have been exploited by the fast food industry for pure profit. We eat fake food full of sugar, salt, oil and preservatives and it's killing us.

Pushing a low fat plant based diet is the same as pushing a low carb... teach people how to listen to their bodies, to find balance, to listen to the whispers of inflammation, to analyze their digestion’s, teach people how to use a 20$ glucometer for goodness sake instead of pushing a one sided way of eating. Look at all the ex-vegetarians and ex-vegans.... clearly you can also promote inflammation on a WFPB diet. THINK people stop listening to a one size fits all anything !!

There's a lot to take in here. I was diagnosed with type 2 two years ago with an A1C of 8.3. I was stunned and angry at myself. I am a medical professional so I was familiar with some of things that I needed to do. In researching I found that there were some so called remedies that were wide ranged. I decided to not go on meds and to restrict myself immediately. After one week my morning glucose was between 95-113. This was with an extremely low amount of carbs. Over time that did improve and I started to walk more and bike some. Long story short my A1C dropped to 5.9 with eating low carbs. One thing that I found that I just can't seem to grasp is when I did eat carbs again initially I would always lose weight. I'd check my sugar and it hovered around 95-108. I kept saying to myself something is going on that I don't understand. One site will tell you very low carbs, another you can eat high carbs. One will say restrict carbs and it'll reverse IS and another will say it's simply the fat. I am someone that has a great deal of will power when it comes to attempting to heal myself through diet. When I restricted carbs for at least a year honestly yes I could tell that my sensitivity had improved, but not to the point where I felt I could eat what I wanted and see it go back to normal in 2 hours or so so I thought does anyone know what they're talking about? When I listened to this video honestly it's definitely with skepticism because I'm not easily convinced. Honestly I also wanted this to be true because I love fruit and have not eaten much for years now. I hear professionals say too much animal fat is bad and that one there has been my problem. I don't eat red meat or pork, but I do eat more than my share of meat. I'm seeing opposing views in the comment section here naturally, but what I need to see is what happened when they started to eat carbs. What was their morning glucose like and what was their glucoses after high carb meals? It's showing that it improves, but not showing what to expect in the interim. This need to be accompanied by how long it took to come down and what to expect along the way.

Last year I followed Dr. Eric Berg's "healthy keto" and it worked well. I lost weight and had more energy. But I didn't end up sticking with the diet and gained the weight back. I was getting ready to start the keto diet again and then I came across this video. I've always known a diet based primarily on vegetables and fruit is better. But I've always had a hard time subscribing to the idea that meats and fats are bad.

I've been type 2 diabetic for about 30 years. Have been following keto for the last couple of days. I didn't have to take insulin or Metformin, by numbers were 85-122

But you’re making your disease worse long term?! At least by eating Whole Foods plant based we are healing our metabolism, not breaking it further. I tried keto. Google pancreatitis. No f’n thanks. Keto sucks.

Cyrus my friend, my Brother. Its been almost a year that we talked from Skype. I was diagnosed with Prediabetes/Insulin resistance last year. I follow the diet. Eating fruits and vegetables. Legumes for protein, Oats and Chia seeds. After 3 months my sugar was 115 max. After fasting 2 times for 24 hours i cure my body. Its been almost a year now. My morning blood sugar are 70-76. After 1 hour 90-95 and after 2 hours 73-85 max. I don't see 100 whatever i eat. Now i am eating more foods than before. I don't eat junk foods, no processed foods, no meat or dairy. I want to thank you for helping me get my life back. I also healed my body from Adissons decease symptoms. Low fat diet is the way to go. I was eating 5-8% fat when i was in my low fat diet. After curing my self i am eating 20-25% fat each day. ps: I don't know why all those Naturopaths say the opposite. I followed before a naturopaths diet and my blood sugar was the same and even worse.

A great aid to understanding your type of diabetes.Fund it fascinating and highly recommend hearing it through. I plan to make a few changes to my diet but at 95, a lifelong fruit eater-low fat diet person, not too many.

Thank you so much for explaining this. I’m studying to become a nurse and I’m suffering with insulin resistance myself. I did the Keto diet and a low carb diet and my recent blood work (about a week ago) came back not so great. Specifically my Lcl cholesterol and kidneys. I didn’t know what to do because I’ve been “dieting” for many years. Watching this really allowed me to understand what I need to do to become a healthier person. I’m going to change my diet and hopefully things will change for the better ❤️

Much relief after going through this stuff kzread.infoUgkx-ip-9JdKgYMhubLnEjt3OXJkFyS4D2Jd Stress no doubt affects my blood sugar levels. Taking a walk usually helps bring them down. Eating sweets is not my favorite, but if i take a large portion of them, my blood sugar level rises high. I think it's the high concentration of the glucose flowing into the bloodstream all at once. This is a lesson worth taking note of. This is a great material to learn from.

Wow! I have type 2 diabetes and have been eating completely in the wrong way. I was trying the ketogenic diet, Atkins, etc...extremely low carb. This approach is really surprising. But, with all his research and the people it has, worked for. I do believe it might just be the correct approach. Will be doing this. Just a bit worried about eating pasta etc...also, I have been hearing quite a bit about raw food and diabetes. But, I have a very difficult time with no cooked food.
