Insulated Concrete - Vermiculite - Vermicrete - Portland Cement

Attention: The website in the video has been changed to www.PizzaOvenChef.com Over the next few days, I'll be uploading tons of new content, videos of the finished pizza oven, and some tips and tricks I've learned over the past 3 years.
This video shows you the basics of making Insulated Concrete out of Portland Cement and Vermiculite (or Perlite). The resulting mix is only 15% of the normal concrete weight but is heat/fireproof. This makes it a perfect layer of insulation for your homemade pizza oven.

hi, great video. One question, the vermiculite you are using its the one you use for gardening. It comes on 4 ft bag, for $ 30 in amazon. Thanks.

He means perlite, not vermiculite. They are similar but different products. Use perlite. Yes, it is sold as a garden item everywhere -- Lowes, Walmart, etc.

@ Kube Dog. Actually he did used vermiculite. Perlite have a much more white appearance. It's really doesn't matter. They both work the same way. Vermiculite concrete @ 5:1 gives a K factor value of 0.72-0.75 whereas perlite concrete @ 5:1 gives a K factor of 0.71 which is a little bit better than vermiculite.

If that's accurate, it's a very intelligent and helpful reply. Thank you.

I did one with this mix. My channel has a video of it firing up. My infrared thermometer maxes out at 1000F and shows max.

@@siamapalkki3689 google it. Not all vermiculite has it. Regardless, in the US, the content has to be less than one percent.

I see no reason to fret over that. Even if it was, that's a darn good insulator!
