The tradition of the bride throwing her bouquet is a centuries-old one that started in England. It was believed that getting a piece of the bridal bouquet or the bride's dress brought good luck and fortune. With this superstition came a mad dash to grab parts of the bride's blooms or garments, resulting in the bouquet toss, which helped the bride get away from the chaos. The bouquet toss was invented as an escape strategy, both distracting and satisfying the frenzied mobs of young ladies so the bride could leave without being harmed.

Personally, I don't mind ones where I go 'OH! That had to hurt!', but hate ones where I go 'Damn! Think they're alright?! 🤕

That dark cloud is Florida in summer. It is always like rains for 20 minutes, then it's all clear the rest of the day.

I remember my 1980s elementary school had one of those "witch's hat" things on the playground (see 10:55). They had to take it down after just a few months. So many cracked skulls, split lips, black eyes. I remember one kid planted his face on the center post and bit off about half of this lower lip. It was even dangerous by 80s standards.

The bouquet toss is who ever catches the bouquet is going to be the next bride. If the men catches the brides garter he is the next groom. That's how it always been in my neck of the woods.

It's just a fun tradition. That's all.

3:50 this reminded me of that WWI documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old. Men and boys would slip off the wood into the mud, all the gear drowned them. You couldn't help them either because you'd get pulled in.
