The US Forest Service has been coming out every day on the north side of town with their big cannons and firing them off strategically at different places to create smaller avalanches to keep the snow load off. So that a major avalanche doesn’t get triggered and then comes sweeping down The Valley, And wipe away our beautiful little town of Eureka!! Our log home is 5 miles from the Canadian border. Up off the, YAAK RIVER ROAD. If you Google Earth it, the road, you’ll come to the spot where the pavement ends and the counties very wide and very well-maintained. Dirt road takes over and take you all the way to the border. You don’t have to worry about any traffic out here in these parts. Regarding placement of the ram clamp on the tie rod. What happens when you turn towards driver? Doesn't the longer part of the tie rod to the driver's side of the clamp have flex?
@MischiefMakerTV
Жыл бұрын
Of course, there is some flex, but the hydraulic ram is simply there to assist the mechanical link (drag link) that still exists. you’d have to conclude that those forces wouldn’t be any different than the forces the tie rod would normally see with only the drag link attached (which is attached further away at the passenger knuckle/steering arm). And steering box/drag link only setups are pretty proven at this point. More specifically, it is less than ideal, IMO, to attach the ram at the center of the aluminum because of the fact that it will be flexing against rocks and other obstacles we hit. The aluminum itself can take the abuse (I’ve run a similar 1.75” 7075 tie rod / 2.5ton steering kit on my rock crawler got the past 3 years - in both configurations), but the rod for the ram itself is not anywhere near as flexible and is prone to bending (the aluminum can effortlessly flex 6” in any direction and still return to its original position because, as I’m sure you know, it has excellent memory). Because of the ends (in this case heims) themselves, this particular setup is closer to only 1ton Steering as opposed to 2.5ton, but given the size and material of the tire, I expect that to be more than sufficient for this application. 😊🤘🏻

We’re heading out on Monday. We’ll pre-run during the week. Getting to the start line is the first goal, getting to the finish line would be great, but there are a ton of variables that could prevent that.

Miss you guys. Thank you for the support!
Regarding placement of the ram clamp on the tie rod. What happens when you turn towards driver? Doesn't the longer part of the tie rod to the driver's side of the clamp have flex?
@MischiefMakerTV
im in Anchorage, Alaska. town is only 12x10 miles. i see you travel what are your travel times . mine are 30 min side to side. lol
Was it ncie to sleep in the car? Then the sitting positions is good!
Fired up Thursday? Shouldn't you be in Johnson Valley by Thursday for pre- running?
@MischiefMakerTV

We’re heading out on Monday. We’ll pre-run during the week. I’m not really that stressed about pre-running, I’ve got a pretty good comfort level with the entire area since we wheel there so much and I’ve got a brand new car, I’m not really going to be pushing it that hard. Getting to the start line is the first goal, getting to the finish line would be great, but there are a ton of variables that could prevent that.
what is left of the original jeep ?
concerned that the ram will bind with the steering when sitting on the ground

This build is supposed to be DONE BY WHEN ?
Is the diff cover/bolts strong enough to hold the hydro assist push? I guess we'll see...

Plenty strong. Been running it that way on MischiefMaker for the past 3 years.

Holly, what suspension is on mischief maker? Thank you
@MischiefMakerTV

It’s a Rock Krawler 3-link rear and the front is a custom 3 link using ARTEC brackets.
You need to introduce the puppy
😎🇺🇸🇺🇸😎
Is it going to get painted after the race ?
The lightbar was no longer covered.
What class is Hollie racing in ? 4500 class?
Took years of watching MASH to come up with that last comment from me
Great but tiered team
We ? Them… You know in race jeeps you use a caged pedal so your foot’s locked in…

That project won’t start officially until late March
Are you going to run it
Where are your Nessie and your face stickers ?
Question are you getting grade 8 or grade nothing from a hardware store
@MischiefMakerTV
Жыл бұрын
All hardware will be grade 8. We just installed the final hardware on the suspension last night. Obviously, we weren’t going to setup the suspension and other parts with final hardware over the past 7 weeks…
Holly, many of us viewers are concerned about you diving into the deep end. Do you have any other racing experience? In order to go fast you have to be comfortable driving on or over the edge of control for extended periods. Is this something you've done in the past?
I hate to jinx you Holly but I say it doesn't start right up.✌🏽. Hey you asked for a comment.😊🙋🏽♂️😊😎.

I bought a tested, tuned and running motor. It ran before being shipped. It ran when it was tested on the pallet before being put in the Jeep. It should run after being put in the Jeep. 🤷🏻♀️

@@MischiefMakerTV Boom! 🏴 Nessie's mum has brains!! I expected nothing less! Woohoo! Nessie will start the first time!! Yay! 🥳🥳🥳
Ummmm, This is like twice in 2 videos that I see you drilling sideways. You guys have a workshop, so pop it in the drillpress already! And if you don't have a drillpress, what are you waiting for? It\s just as essential as a grinder and a welder! Oh, and my guess for running is midday on Saturday.
"Hey my lovelies" , probably the best KZread intro since " We got a call " . And thanks for the music ! If possible, comment the music you use. It needs mentions and support as well ❤️🩹
