Hi Andy put masking tape on both corners of the hood before you start. If you slip it won't damage either the hood or the plenum.Easy to remove after it's fitted up.

Great info - prepping hardware and tools makes this so much easier.

True, and since you're working on your car solo, you'll be able to take advantage all the prepping too. :)

Great tip for installing the hood yourself. It’s daunting moving something that large yourself.

When I put the hood back on my 67 Mustang Coupe. I used a piece of 1/2 plywood between the hinges and laid the hood on it. But my car has "patina" and it's not gonna get paint. I can paint it myself I just don't feel like it. It's gonna be scuff it flat clear and I'm done. My helper that day was my Late 90 year old Dad who supervised me. AKA He watched me do it.

Yeah, sometimes we just have to use what we've got. I wish my Dad was there, if nothing else to just supervise would have been great. :)

Good tip on having tools ready. A battery powered ratchet really shine's here. I like to install the bottom/back bolt first. The hood can't see-saw then when you are installing the front one. Good job as always Andy.

Thanks! That's a great idea about the bottom bolt, I'll remember that next, I definitely don't want to fight the weight of the hood anymore than I have to. :)

Hi Andy, not sure if you have a new hood yet, but I got mine from Champion fiberglass I believe out of Ohio. It was the most economical I found by like 50 percent! It's not an exact Shelby replica but it's a decent piece. Will need some bodywork but for a budget hood it's hard to beat. Also, the owner runs the show and swap circuit so he'll deliver to save crazy shipping prices for something as big as a hood. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't decided which route I'll go with the new hood yet, but it's good to know there are deals out there. :)

White is nice on the underside! Side question.. when you did your Shelby drop, you didn't use the camber wedges correct? Do you think it's s good idea? Do you like the results you got?

  • @AndyKruseChannel

Correct, I did not install the camber wedge. I have a few ideas on what I want to do with the upper and lower control arms, so I figured I'd address that upgrade at that time. Yes, the results are fine, but they're barely noticeable. I put the Shelby drop in the category of "cumulative improvements" as the actual noticeable results from any suspension mod by itself that I've done (with the exception of the Panhard Bar) ranges from "meh" to "I can tell there's an improvement but it's not sliced bread". If anyone was asking, I'd recommend the Shelby mod because it's not likely that they'll stop there. Adding up all these upgrades to suspension pays off for these really light cars, but it usually comes at a cost of pure comfort. My car is not as stiff as a race car, nor does it handle like one, but it is way more fun to drive it the way I have it than the way it came from the factory. :)

@@AndyKruseChannel nice insights! I've done some work with tight leafs, larger sway bar in the front, monte Carlo and export brace so I figured the next logic "meh" to add is a drop.. not sure if i want to do the typically 1 inch or the more aggressive drop and add the wedges... Saw the new lanyard bar from maier and it's making me really want one along with some sub frame rails
