I am in the planning phase of turning my grandfathers 1963 Starcraft 14 ft. boat into a worth while tiny boat. your videos are priceless, Thank you.
Living in AZ for 25 now, Own a Cajun but who has time to take it to the lake. So I'm quite interested in the urban and have discovered your tiny boat deal. No water makes this old water dog mad. I've been scouring the market for a boat to be my first project. Tried doing this kind of thing a long time ago but chopped up a 16' runabout fiberglass mostly because I thought it would be easier to build what I wanted. Good boat, spent lots of time on the lakes of WI with it was never afraid to mess it up. Unlike the Cajun, which I'd never take the small boat to Powell, that's big water there. I'm surprised at how many boats are out there without titles and people think I'm going to give them money much less that they have the right to sell it. AZGF is in no way about to let someone just bring in a boat with BOS and put another tag on that hull. Then there is like one boat I was looking at up in Queen Creek that the owner had used aluminum riveted to the outside to raise the gunwale, like 6" all around.
Slots slots and more slots! Keep it up bro!
Nice short vid today. I was watching and thinking it, cool I found another boat build to watch. It’s almost like episode 3 season 4 out today, or whatever.
Looking forward to the rest of the decking framing as I will be adding a front deck to my 14' v-bottom in the future. Thanks and keep'em coming.
Love to see the progress!
Your videos have guided me with my boat renovation. Lots of great ideas. Thanks.
Nice video, really interested on the out come of the boat. Will be following for more updates. Thank you for your videos.
Been following the channel for about a year now, just installed one of your subfloor kits in my alumnacraft today, thanks for the inspiration..
I have a boat just like this so I’m super excited to see the process because I’m going to probably do something very similar. 👍👍👍
Man you have taught me a lot thanks for all the help keep the videos coming 🙏
Well done !
Like what you do man. On my second build and I have used your channel for ideas for both my previous build and my new build. Keep it up and thanks!
Coming along, can't wait to see more
Doing this on a 1971 Sears 16/32…. It’s a beater and posting up on Fb/AssTablet soon! 🤘🏼
Love watching you redo these boats.
It was fun doing mine. I ended up having to redo one side but I lucked out and could use the same holes. Keep 'em coming 👍🏻. Also that trailer is actually pretty cool other than that butt ugly green.
I have this exact same boat, I'm going to copy so much of what you are doing, love it
Thank for your help I'm doing a complete makeover on my 1976 Smojer Craft "Lancer Edition " glad to share a pic. Bob the dog trainer Pa
Motivated me to do something sweet like this to my 1967 StarCraft Giving me a lot of options. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Really inspiring! Can't wait to start my own project. And this series really helps cos my boat is almost the same as this😅 it will do perfectly once it's ready👍

Thank you for all the great work you do and for spreading the knowledge! I'm planning on doing one of these myself and I wouldn't be anywhere near as confident that I could without all your hard work with TBN!

@@royallison6430 what type of fishing do you do mostly? I'm taking a 1970 Lund 15.5' boat that's got an open deck and making it into a more focused walleye fishing boat rather than a pleasure cruise boat.

I primarily fish for catfish using jugs or trotlines. I like bass fishing also. My boat is mostly set up for bass fishing. I have a 1971 Grumman 1648 with a 40 Merc tiller handle. I love my boat. It runs and handles well. Thanks to Mike and Tiny Boat nation for all the ideas.
Loving these videos
always cool builds
Thank you!! I'm hoping to get my v hull "upgraded" to something like this.

Very interested to see hoy you handle the bow, I have a V hull with no supports to attach angle to past the front bench seat.
Love it buddy, I just bought a StarCraft 14ft v-haul that I’m gathering all supplies to do this . I’m excited but nervous. Any advice would be absolutely appreciated!

Hey!
Awesome
So I’m going to be building my 1962 16’ Lone Star Skipper have you done a boat similar to it? I am wanting to get the floor as low as possible with all the benches out and do a storage box up both sides from front to back to bring structural stability back to the hull after removing the benches. Btw it’s going to be an open floor Catfishing boat where all the action will be on the back of the boat at the rod rack
Awesome videos. What grade aluminium are you using? 6061 or 6063?
Are you using solid rivets on the side rails? Getting tripped up on side panels. How would install side panels on a deep v side console?
Opinions are like assholes everyone has one. You do you because viewers like myself enjoy your builds and how you have progressed over the years. Shout out from a Canadian fan. P.s. Ill be modifying my boat if it ever gets out of customs . since November what crazy time we live in . Take care be safe and keep on building boats

Im wondering if you would widen the gunnels and how you would do it.been watching this build as it is similar to my boat. Ive thought maybe using one long sheet and clamp it on top to trace the shape of the gunnels then cut it out in a long strip and use some sought of pre shaped combing to drop down on the inside edge and weld it in 100mm increments
@TinyBoatNation
2 жыл бұрын
Maybe
How would you do that on fiberglass boat?
Have you ever tried to add a versatrac equivalent or another sliding track to a riveted boat? About my only complaint on my riveted Alumacraft is the lack of one for accessories. Figured someone would have come up with a way by now but I have yet to see it done.

What rivets are you using on the side

Was wanting to see how you connected cross member to the rail. I am doing a Lowe 16/48 and as you know the sides angle out terribly. I ran my rail as you did but the cross member does not sit flat on the rail. I don’t know if that matters but it is the only way to attach it. Actually I attached them under the rail which caused a gap at the rail so I need to detach and lay them on top. Any suggestions?

Watch the Yak Killer series
So I'm thinking of keeping the bench seats in (cutting out where I need) the boat and going around them, because I keep reading that taking them out is bad. I'm assuming the subfloor and framing restores the rigidity to the hull. I haven't looked through all of your videos, but have you done a build where you keep the bench seats in?
@TinyBoatNation
8 ай бұрын
Just cut out the top of the bench seats and keep the bottom. That way there’s no damage to the hull.
I’m looking to start a build, I’m planning on getting a 14-16 foot boat. Do the tbh kits go to all v bottom boats or does it matter what type of v bottom it is.

Does slotting the metal on the side weaken it? I’m in the process of building a deck system and am slightly worried that the metal would have a tendency to sag or bend over time. Maybe I’m over thinking it, but in my head it seems almost easy to bend a short aluminum “tab”

It’s more just a series of individual brackets. Not one solid piece anymore
What thickness of angle did you sue on the side rail?

👍👍
What are you all typically paying for your 14' aluminum boat with tiny outboard? I'm trying to find one and not sure what the market should be.
@TinyBoatNation
2 жыл бұрын
The market is very high right now.
Doing the side rails is definitely one of the most deceiving parts....it looks so weird. If it looks right...it's not🤣. When I was doing mine...I screwed up on the starboard side and had to redo a good 5' of the front because I followed the top of the gun whale and now, I have a line of extra rivets showing on the outside of my boat cause I had to redo it. Learned my lesson though, took measurements and replicated it to the port side and it worked great
What is the make of your pneumatic stapler and is it a 1/2 inch crown with how long the legs?

Okay Milwaukee, but 1/2 inch crown ? Or 1/4? and how long are the ideal length of legs on staples for average carpet?
i think those nutted rivets were for the old boat emblems no? someone just removed the emblems it looks like and put the rivets back in
are those storage bins/hatches on your website?

Yep, sorry about that. It's been a crazy few months.
Getting an untitled boat registered is a pain in every state, isn't it? In Texas it can take quite a while. I think you're better off telling them at TPWD that you built it in your garage. It always cracks me up when sellers tell me they'll give me a bill of sale and everything will be fine. And it's just not that simple. It can be done but it isn't that damn simple. And if you think about it, that's probably why they are now selling it.
@TinyBoatNation

True that
why are you using wire strippers? I mean use some damn vice grips. make sure they are metric ones though.

WHATS WITH THE GARDEN HOSE?? WHY PLEASE?? Also how do you get it to drain ? Not even rat holes down the centre. Is this you're very first ever Boat project?

You run hose so when you pour in foam, it adds as a runoff for Water if he gets in there

I have ALWAYS Loved the you tubers cry for help at the end of the videos. What math do you or You Tube use to come up with the % of subscribers vs Views. first that would be 19.8% not 18%.. common error.... I guess... But then look at the videos. you have 115k Subscribers. on average you have about 5-15k views on a video. That Math is backwards lmao. it has to be a monthly %.
