Installing Nylon Hinges on Model Airplanes

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A video I did last year and forgot about till now, so I got to editing and here is how I do DuBro type nylon hinges. A bit time consuming but for strong and free hinges they can't be beat IMHO.

I like the straw idea, never done that before. Other than that we do all the prep etc the same way.

The straw makes it a lot easier and far less messy.

I have a question about electric. I have a small Sig plane with a 28" wing span that I built years ago. Since I never put a gas engine engine on it I'd love to put an electric motor on it. What should I be looking for as far as size and an accompanying battery for it? That's the hardest part for me on the electric is trying to figure out what motor and battery goes with each. I have a Super Clown from Brodak that I crashed and when I rebuilt the front end I put a motor that was typically used on their Ringmaster. The problem right away was that the battery that I had for the Super Clown although it worked it was slow as anything until I changed the battery with one that I used on the Ringmaster. Any help would be appreciated as always and I will try this on hinges next time that I have a plane to build. Great instructions.

The more cells in the battery the more voltage that gives you higher RPM. I cheat and look at recommendations on the Brodak site. KV rating on the motor is the RPM per volt. brodak.com/electric-accessories-1.html

NHB or BSI brands, 30 minute or more. Most hobby store brands are good.

Try sonic tronic CA hinges, not the Tower Hobbies crappy ones. The Tower ones are to stiff and do break. Never broke a Sonic Tronics hinge.

I heard they are good but pinned hinges are far more free moving which is what you need on a controlline model.
