First night I had the STI I did the exact same but with Noico. I had such an awesome experience doing the same with my CTR I felt why not do it on the STI also. Such a smart mod. One thing that helped me a bunch is doing under the rear seat, I put the mat on everything under there.

I am running a similar exhaust setup, Delta Motorworks Downpipe and muffler deletes and Nameless Midpipe. I ran Dynamat in trunk, doors, under rear seats, and headliner area. That does quiet down the road noise, but not a loud exhaust. I added MLV under the trunk mat, between the trunk and rear seats, and I'll probably run it under the rear tray area. It did a little, but won't kill the exhaust noise. The Dynamat and MLV probably added about 50lbs. Muffler delete I think drops about 15-20... Headliner Dynamat made a big difference in road noise and rain. The roof is THIN, be careful.

Use a heat gun, warm it up a little bit as you roll or press it on. Helps make it easier, goes down better. Conforms to the curves, gets in places. What about the trunk lid? And a peice behind the license plate . If the sub really hits, needed usually

I'm doing our shit box 2004 Kia Rio that our son threw away. It's got a good stereo but tin cans are noisy. It's a basic build with manual seat adjustment which makes it easy to pull everything out. Although the windows and mirrors are electric but that's a single cable. Really looking forwards to it. I've had a couple of BMW's ACS 540i and an S500L Mercedes. I know how quiet a car can be.

Souind resonates anywhere it can go. If there are holes and places for sound to travel, it will go there. I would recommend doing the whole rear end on the hatch due to it being in the cabin of the car. It won't necessarily cut down on the exhaust sounds, but it'll definitely tone down the road noise and overall in cabin noise.

With all of your exhaust setups, would you say that the ELH changes the drone RPM's? I might start there, then sound deadening, then a new catback so I don't spend money on parts I've already upgraded. Thoughts??

So you want a loud exhaust but don’t want to hear it in the cabin, kind of funny 🤣. So it seems the Touring Edition is spot on for your build philosophy. As for drone, articles say it is a pressure wave occurring when the sound frequencies of the engine and exhaust are the same, and they resonate with each other, “in harmony”. So mat in the trunk didn’t do much not that surprising actually. As for the stereo system the matting is supposedly perfect for reducing tinny secondary vibration. Doors seem the next logical next step modification. Interesting Kilmat says it’s product weighs 0.5 lbs/sq ft and a box covers 36 sq ft so 18 lbs for a box, yet you seem to think it weighs double that? Dynamat weighs the same as well but is three time the price of Kilmat! So as you said not as much of a dollar investment no doubt about that. AIso was interesting 🧐 to see 👀 the level of effort involved to install Kilmat thanks 🙏 for that. Not a mod for me and my Subie, as I’m into shedding weight not adding any frankly.

I got a box of 36 sq ft, Siless I think is the brand. 80 mil, 2 mm. One box weighed 20 lbs I believe. For my car, I needed around two boxes, smaller sedan, Saab 9-5 Aero. I'd say the added weight is negligible compared to the reduced noise. Up to each of us whether we want to trade a bit of performance for some luxury.
