Installing FRESH + GRAY WATER TANKS under School Bus Conversion | NO WELD MOUNT for 600lbs of Water!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

PART 1! We're showing you HOW TO construct + mount frames designed to hold 600lbs of water using angle iron and bolts! Each tank (fresh and gray) takes up to 75 gallons of water each!
Installing 5 beams per tank, we are estimating that each beam will be responsible to hold 120lbs of weight, dispersed amongst almost 10 bolts holding in each of those cross - beams. Then, 10 stainless steel dowel rods will run down the sides of each tank, connecting to similar angle iron cross beams which support the tank from the underside (this will be in Part 2!)
We feel really confident the bus is able to support all this weight... mainly from the fact that 1. most skoolie's actually hold even more water than we'll have, 2. the wheel chair lift we removed from the back of the bus was almost 1,500lbs • REMOVING SCHOOL BUS WH... AND 3.the bus itself and the rear axel is rated to hold over 16,000lbs !!!
If you have any questions about more details into this first part of our install please be sure to COMMENT below!! Again you'll be able to water the se and half very soon :)

My guy get yourself thick self tapping screws. Those are sheet metal screws and they bore their own holes which will save you the need to independently screw and drill ya know? Other than that, the ingenuity shown by the two of you is only eclipsed by the actual genuine love there clearly is between yall. wish you two all the success and happiness in the world and honestly been in construction/hvac for 12 years, can braze, solder and weld as well have installed thousands of units from commercial to residential to mini splits and wall hung/window mounted units..... only reason I’m telling you that is because I’ve mounted tons of shit to tons of mediums so please feel free to hit me up if you get hung up at all. Would love to help y’all in any way I can. Much love to both of you!!

Thanks for the love brotha! I used some self tappers as well but just ones from the demo. I really think just some small beads with a welder will finish the job. It’s super strong. We may have some questions down the road, appreciate it!

You guys are awesome and I love your channel I bought a 40 foot bus about 2 months ago and have been working around the clock night and day on it!I have done construction for over 2 decades now and still have situations were I'm unsure exactly how I'm gonna do something and most of the time you guys have been a few steps ahead and I have been fortunate enough to get a idea most the time with a lot of things by your videos so thanks for posting your build and hope to cross paths with are builds someday I have a lot of cool plans and ideas with my build started filming and have recorded a lot of the work being done or final results of the work but have no idea how to begin with editing and starting a channel so I'm gonna finish the bus I'm working on then heading to a friend's across the country stay about a week or so get all the editing done then drop videos every week or something but haven't got to my half way point yet but will be very soon and when I do was thinking about starting a Instagram page! I'm gonna start following your page and if at all possible would like to ask you guys a few questions would you be up to answering a few about things I was curious about from a few videos?

I just bought all my equipment and am about to start doing it right now. Thank you. (Let me know if I can link you two)

The bus is looking good... It was kind of painful watching you spin those nuts aaaaalllll the way up those rods though... I would have put them on the top end before screwing the rods into the top rail... :) Have fun, Enjoy life, and Peace be with you....

Watched your video because I found your idea great for my grey tank I just might try another way to attach my unistrut bars . I think you have a great set up for your tanks and good luck on your build. Are you able to keep your bus at a storage unit area..if so lucky you .

You could clean up some of the slots without bolts in the channel you with a wire wheel and weld a bead on 2 slots per channel. Welding upside down isn't fun but they may be able to stay under a welding blanket to avoid burns. I wouldn't trust sheet metal screws long term. If not welding then I recommend grade 8 bolts with nuts locked up top... do the ribs allow access to place a nut? Mine are like upside down Ts below the bus. Welding is not really all that hard to do. You may want to learn basics. It's very very useful... and really fun.

@@ShawnandAsh you both should learn. It's not just for dudes. My daughter is more patient than me and welds a pretty good bead.

Grade 5 would be better than 8 in this case. 5 will bend and flex when traveling loaded, 8 is "stronger" but sheers easier.
