    The one thing that surprised me the most on the Aygo infotainment system (I have the Android Auto compatible one) is that compared to other infotainment systems out there, it's really snappy right from the boot. Compared to the Infotainment Systems on a 2021 Suzuki Ignis for example it's like a difference between night and day. The Suzuki system takes ages to boot and even then, it's lagging like crazy. And the saddest part is that most infotainment systems out there feel the same. So.. good job for giving us an amazing system, toyota.

    Yes, totally agree with how quick it is. I was impressed with the two-button unit and the three-button one is ditto as far as speed and responsiveness go. Crazy that it's even more responsive than some of the new electric cars that I've seen in videos, too.

    I also did this on my mk1 aygo. Best thing ever. Combined with JBL speakers and a small Bass unit under the driver side seat has improved this car to a point which is actually better than most new cars. In terms of sound quality and snappiness of the inforainment.

There is a member called Flash22 that is an absolute whiz regarding these units, so they should be able to point you in the right direction. The hope would be as you say, that hopefully the connections are already there and just not in use. Alternatively, you'd be looking at potentially splicing and exploring RCA adapters if needed. Let me know how you get on! Would be super interested in the end result.

  • @jamieaygo

    @jamieaygo

    5 ай бұрын

    Hey! If you search for "86140-0H010" on eBay, it seems that yours doesn't have DAB. The easiest way to be sure if you have DAB is to actually use the head unit when it's in the car and if you don't see a DAB option, then it's not something you have and you'd be better off picking up the one ending YV010 (without DAB), but it seems quite hard to find. It would really be worth searching for the "Toyota Aygo forums" on Google and posting there to see if, for example, you were to just install the YV020 (unit with DAB) unit and not use DAB, would there be any issue. Very knowledgeable folks over there! Let me know what you decide to do and how you get on!

    So, after a little research and some hours browsing Toyota forums, I found that if you need to upgrade a vehicle without DAB to DAB you need a DAB aerial cable. But some people bought the DAB version of this new unit, YV020 to replace their non-DAB units on their non-DAB cars and the unit continued to work on their vehicles. So the unit (without code) I ordered from eBay arrived today. I did this same experiment on my car, which has no DAB. The unit works perfectly. It also came with an Aerial Cable, to upgrade to DAB. I'll consider the upgrade in the near future anyway.

  • @jamieaygo

    Yes, from my understanding it should, although I can't vouch for it experientially. There are a few people on the Toyota Aygo forums that have done it with success, so you should be fine. If you search for "Aygo (2015) infotainment upgrade Android Auto and Apple Carplay", on page 6, there is a poster who says "'I've just swapped my head unit from the basic one (with a monochrome display) to the latest one including carplay in my 3 doors. Everything is working great so far", so you should be good. It's obviously worth considering how you are going to use it as well because I know some of the base model Aygo's don't have steering wheel controls, so you'd just be using it in it's touch form. Just worth noting. Hope that helps!

  • @jamieaygo

    @jamieaygo

    3 ай бұрын

    yeah, I know this is a known issue for some people. Based on your description, it seems to me that the new head unit has a wiring issue as the old one works fine. A few things I would consider would be to doublecheck that all the wires are wired up correctly, which by the sounds of it, they are, but worth checking. It might be worth considering taking a wiring loom from the old working head unit and swapping it to see if that does the trick but then it would render your old unit useless. It may also just be worth returning it and hunting for another one. What I would suggest would be to hop over to the Toyota Aygo forums and pop a post on there as some people have had a similar issue and might be able to offer a fix. In honesty, if you have the capacity to return it, I'd go that route as it sounds like that head unit has an issue. Let us know how you get on.

    Yeah, you need a 3-button unit to use Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The orange "connection" option is for the Miracast/mirror screen option, allowing you to mirror what's on your phone. • @jamieaygo

    @jamieaygo

    4 ай бұрын

    I thought about doing this and the honest answer is, I don't know if it's possible. It very likely is but I think it's worth considering that many aftermarket stereos come with added complexity when fitting them and most people find it much easier just to pick up a three-button OEM unit for the Aygo like I did as it's a straight swap. You don't have to mess about with new facias, electrics or wiring.I very much doubt that an aftermarket unit would work with the steering wheel controls, so that's why most people go OEM.

    Hey! Sorry to hear you are having issues. Make sure Siri is turned on/not blocked. You can check that this works by either long-pressing the power button until the Siri icon pops up or saying "Hey, Siri" and it should come on. Does your phone draw power when you plug it into the USB port? Some of these units can have faulty USB ports. If it isn't, try plugging your old unit back in to see if it works. That way, you can send the new one back if it's faulty. If it is drawing power, try using a different USB cable to see if it fixes the problem.
