Installing an ATV lift, mud tires, and a clutch kit // CFMOTO 1000

Ойын-сауық

DON'T make this mistake like I did! 🤦‍♂️ I installed a 2" Perfex lift kit, 30" ITP Cryptid tires, and a clutch kit from Main Street Cycles. I tested everything out in some super deep snow and my quad did amazing! For about 7 miles...

Hey guys, low gear for that kind of stuff, the higher rpms of low gear makes your clutches spin up, your clutches have a fan built in so the higher rpms creates more air flow thus keeping your clutches cooler

I think it was the combination of the new clutch kit,the 30” tires, being in high gear, and the heavy heavy wet snow we were in, and me basically going full tilt for about seven miles. Had I been in low like the owners manual states, I probably would have been fine.

All belt drive atvs/utvs will have belt or clutch issues if you hold them wide open in deep snow for more than a few minutes at a time even in low. When we ride in deep snow we take lots of breaks to cool the belt down, you can touch the belt cover and check the temp, it will get very hot after a few minutes at full throttle.

  • @BroBuilds

I feel like it’d be way less comfortable and less fun to be in Low most of the time. I wonder if there is a way around that. Maybe the larger tires also play a factor in the increased belt slippage in High.

I put a clutch kit on my Arctic Cat 650 several years ago. It was fine at first, but then ended up eating clutch parts. Mostly the primary rollers and belts (like yours did). Every time I rode it, it always melted the clutch. I wasn't driving slow either - fast paced, and 3/4 throttle most of the time. I quit riding it because it was so unreliable. Even after I put the old clutch parts back in, it kept eating clutch parts. I will NEVER put a clutch kit in another ATV again. I recommend you adhere to this advice. It will save you a lot of frustration and money...

That means it was out of alignment, not clutch problems, it was probably installer error with too much or too little torque on the clutch bolts.

I couldn’t use a torque wrench because the clutches just spin. I used my impact gun and loctite.

the torque spec is like 80flbs for both. unless you but the clutch hold tool you cant really torque it with a wrench. i also used a impact at loctite. i haven't put many km on since installing but likewise for my test drive everything seemed ok. im wondering about buying a performance belt to eliminate some of that stock belt slipage.

My question is this. Do you think the CF MOTO is a quality machine? Here in the northeast you say CF MOTO and people lose their minds wondering what’s the problem.

Absolutely. This is my third cfmoto. I just got back from a 900 mile ride in Arizona with no issues. I have over 1500 miles on each of the other atvs with zero issues. As with other machines, maintenance is key. And one of my favorite things is all the accessories and features you get compared with other brands AND for less money. In the 5 years I’ve owned a CFMoto, there’s also been a huge improvement in aftermarket parts, so they’re catching up there, too.

I own a 2022 cforce 800 and i have a love hate relationship with it. okay firstly it runs very hot, ive reprogrammed the ecu and still runs very hot. a tiny bit of water got into my clutch cover while riding deep and the primary bearing instantly went. they are heavy machines and long, so if you plan on doing mud they aren't the best due to weight and length. so i've installed a ecu reprogram, new clutch bearing, 2" lift kit, 1" wheel spacers, mudder clutch kit, and now shopping for 30" tires and a rad relocate kit. all on a machine that has less that 1500 km on it. also the winch went on it, but that was my buddies kid fault for not keeping tension on cable when he was pulling it out and it jammed. if i could do it all over again id have gotten a can am or a grizzle.

They are junk , I’ve owned two now and with the type of riding I do they fall apart , my Suzuki king quad lasted for ever with very few issues the cf moto was done after 3000 miles Suzuki had 14000 miles on it before the engine went.

That clutch is garbage then if that’s all it took for it to melt shit. My brute force has never done that and I only ride in high unless I’m in mud. And I’m lifted 2 inches on 31inch xm310s
